Her Response Wasn’t What I Was Expecting

I told something to a friend today and I totally wasn’t expecting her response to be what it was I’m changing some of the details but you’ll get the gist of it I told her that I was able to buy something for a discount because of my age. In other words I got a senior citizen discount because I’m 61 years old it was available to anybody over 55 years old. She is also over 60 years old, so I thought this information will be helpful to her to know that this place offers a senior citizen discount But no, her response to me was that I could afford full price so why was I taking the discount? Oh my goodness, why wouldn’t I?

Omg! It's your privilege as a senior citizen. You are supposed to enjoy the privilege, so why wouldn't you? Why are some people like that?

I feel like she’s disappointed in me now or judging me

@LooeyVille And that affects you a lot? I wouldn't be. There's nothing wrong in what I've done. The next time, just don't tell her anything about discounts at all.

Geez, judge much? That is how rich people get to be rich, by doing things like that. One of the rich people I knew in Northern Virginia (had his own private plane, so I consider that to be rich) would go 3 blocks out of the way if he could save a nickel.

I’ve come across people like that, who won’t take advantage of any discounts. I think they’ve got a screw loose!

I feel she was being judgmental in a way. And maybe she has a fear of growing older? Some people seem to. And oddly, some people don’t use senior discounts because they don’t want anyone to think they are seniors. I agree, that was just weird.

@looeyville That’s a strange attitude to take. It’s not as if you’re trying the cheat anyone.

I'd accept it if it was offered to me.But I never remember that I'm ancient enough to get a Senior Discount at some places..

Wow! Why on earth would you pay full price if you can get a discount? The manufacturer is bound to still be making a good profit.

Honestly I'd take the discount too, that's what it's there for. Being able to afford full price doesn't mean you have to pay it. Your friend's answer was kind of odd, you were just trying to help her save some money.
