So as you know my Mom has been in bed since Monday , after being sick and fainting in the night. So far she has just had half a cup of tea and one slice of bread with tiny amount of butter and tiny amount of marmalade. This morning , she has asked if I would make some leek and potato soup as she would love to try some of that for lunch. Oh my days, I’m pleased that she is at least starting to feel better and wants to try and eat something. Making the soup will be a pleasure. Off I go to chop a leek ! What are you doing today ?

Leeks are so expensive here. I couldn't believe it when I went to make a cream of wild mushroom soup that called for them.

@NJChicaa. The price of all vegetables here is sky high at the moment ….’ They ‘ know people have got to eat so they know the food will be bought regardless of the high prices…..it’s not right but that’s how it is. It’s been a long time since I made mushroom soup, I can’t remember if my recipe calls for leeks or not !

This is a very good soup that I also like in winter. I have to replace a bridge in my mouth, the dentist pulled it out yesterday, I am also having soups. Today creamy pumpkin soup.

@Traceyjayne - I also make cakes with pumpkins. I hope the dentist will not be long. I do not like to go to the dentist.

@LadyDuck. Creamy pumpkin soup sounds yummy. I haven’t even bought a pumpkin yet, and they have been in the shops for s few weeks now. I usually make cakes too. Hope your dentistry work gets sorted out soon x

@traceyjayne Having the desire to eat is definitely a good sign so hopefully mum's on the mend. No doubt your soup will speed things along. I'm taking the cat to the vet today. We only got her 2 weeks ago, took her off someone's hands as a favour - she's about to give birth, no not the cat, the friend whose she was. The cat is about 12 years old. It's unlikely she was vaccinated and I think she's got cat flu. She's also quite arthritic but she's quite lovely.

@xFiacre. Yes, I was pleased when she asked for soup. I only gave her a small portion but she finished it all so that’s a good sign. Well done for taking in the cat ….although it’s a shame she needs a vets visit quite so soon….is there insurance in place ?

That's good news indeed. She must be feeling a little better if she is asking for soup.

@JudyEv. Yes, and she managed a small portion of it. She is still in bed but sitting up watching some tv. Still needs help tiger to the bathroom as she is wobbly still.

Really glad your mom is feeling a bit better and asking for something to eat. Leek and potato soup sounds like just the right thing for her, nice and gentle. Today I'm just getting through my to do list and hoping for a quiet evening.
