How do you do your laundry?

I guess I’m cutting it close on doing laundry, but this morning I’ll go over to my dad’s house to do some laundry. It costs $40 a month to rent a washer/dryer for your apartment here, or you can go to the recently reopened laundry by the main office. I don’t have money for either, so a long time ago my now late mom told me to just come over and do my laundry at my parent’s house. Because of that kindness, I do contribute to the Tide pods for the wash and then softener sheets for the dryer. Luckily, Walmart has erroneously delivered several pails of them to my apartment before, and they tell you to keep them.
I heard in Europe the washing machine is usually in the kitchen? That is kind of rare here. And while plenty of people also line dry their laundry, my allergies won’t allow me to do so.

There is usually (though not always) a tiny “room” (not a real room) , usually right next to where you enter the garage, and it’s usually in there. There is usually a couple of cabinets above where the washer and dryer for laundry sosp, ect…. There is room to stand, manuever, and have a hamper.
That being said, some homes, like my sister’s, DO actually have a whole room as a laundry room. It’s not huge, but it is definitely classified as a room. No matter how big though, it’s most often near the garage.

Hey ….it’s official …. I’m posh.
I have a utility room, it houses a toilet, sink, various cupboards and my washing machine. Also the vacuum is kept in there.

In Italy the washing machine was never in the kitchen when the apartment had a more reasonable size, in those very small apartments it's in the kitchen. I have a small laundry room in this apartment, that is a good size. I have a washing machine and a dryer, but I prefer to hang on the balcony when the sun is shining.

My laundry room is on the second floor and it makes it so much easier to do laundry, No lugging up and down the stairs. My other houses have always had the laundry in the basement so it was a nuisance even when I was young and had plenty of energy.
I'm glad you can do your laundry at your dads and don't have to deal with paying (either renting machines for your apt or using the laundry room)
