It was so very nice to have a lower electric bill!

I used to not dread getting the electric bill like I do now. But here we are, livin' the dream...anyway.
Some of you may remember that for a month this summer, my central air was down, waiting on parts and repair. We ran a window unit, which of course helped tremendously with temps that hovered around 100 degrees for days on end, but I really worried what it would do to the electric bill. Of course, I do what pretty much everyone else does--lights off when not needed, doors shut tightly, I have blackout curtains that help, too. But the electric rates keep rising, up and up they go...and the electric bill is always a stressor when the temperatures fluctuate. I always appreciate the time we usually get every spring and fall that nothing at all is required--no heat, no AC, no nothing. September here was way hotter than normal, as was the first 10 days or so of October. We are finally in a respite period with comfortable temperatures which of course will help, not to have to run either the heat or the AC.
The bill posted Friday. I decided NOT to look at it until Monday, because I was just too stressed out. I got brave and went online to look...and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! If I could, I would turn some cartwheels! What a big relief that was. And we haven't had to have it on all this past week, so that's good. The heat will be turned on when it gets cold, not before. But OH, I am thankful!

We haven’t had the AC on for some time, but then it hasn’t been horribly hot here. I am so thankful the bill was less than I thought it would be!

Well that's certainly good news that your bill wasn't as bad as you anticipated, With the summer heat my electric meter was spinning fast enough to make me dizzy,
We had a few days reprieve with no a/c or heat. Then the cold overnights hit and had to turn the heat on. Days got warm and the a/c was back on. My electric bill probably won't go down at all this month

This only happened one other time a few years ago--and the next bill was a whopper. So I am rather concerned that could happen again.
I am back to wearing a sweater in the daytime and using my electric blanket at night. Son doesn't get cold like I do, he loves the cooler temps. I'm sorry you had to turn your AC back on again.

This home is all electric, so no gas bill. I am hopeful the temperatures will stay somewhat moderate for a bit to give us all a respite of paying high bills.

I have been running the space heaters quite a bit in these last few very cold nights, and was on most of the day yesterday.but other than that, haven't had anything on for about a month. I also don't keep a lot of lights on in here. My electric bill has been exceedingly low. I feel like the cat that swallowed the canary when everyone else is complaining about theirs. It won't last forever though I am sure.

With the crazy gas prices and the constant rise in prices of basic living. It’s always nice to have a bill be less than expected!

This is a weird autumn for us normally by now we have the air-conditioning turned off, but we’ve still had 80° days. It’s always a game with us to try to make it until Thanksgiving without turning the heat on. We had a huge air-conditioning bill last month

Oh, if we have our normal fall temperatures for awhile, it would be so good. No heat needed, no fans or AC.
