I'm In a Food Rut

United States

Happy Thursday Everyone! no complaints about the weather this week. I love waking up to sunshine and it's neither too hot nor too cold. I'm really enjoying this weather and wish it could last longer than I know it will. For the longest time I always thought I would love to have a housekeeper so I wouldn't have to do those tedious chores. But, lately I've been in a food rut and I think I would change the idea of a housekeeper to chef. It would be so nice to have someone prepare the weekly food menu, shop and cook. Of course cleaning up the kitchen afterwards would be a given, Every week I try to run an ongoing grocery list of our usuals, stuff we're running low on and an idea of what to have for dinner every night (with a plan b in mind just in case). This week I'm really struggling because I'm tired of everything and not in the mood for anything. What do you do when you get in a food rut?

I get out my recipe books and find something I haven’t cooked in a while …or try a few new recipes.

Hopefully as the cold weather approaches I'll have more inspiration for heartier meals.

I generally don't get into food ruts, I eat to stay healthy and usually stick with what I know I like so I keep it simple.

I never really do, as I always vary what I eat. The problem I run into is being just one person..I always have copious leftovers it seems, and get tired of eating them. I am going to start bagging them and eating for quick meals when I don't feel like cooking.

Im always cooking for 2 but sometimes even with that we have leftovers. They go in the freezer for those defrost, heat and eat nights. I just seems to be tired of everything lately

Our house help go to the market each day to buy fresh produce and fresh fish. We love having fresh fish on our table all the time.

I am not much of a foodie so can go without or just fill in with whatever.

Honestly a chef sounds way better than a housekeeper, I'd take that deal too. When I get in a food rut I just pick one new recipe off youtube and make it on a weekend, even if it's simple. Hope the nice weather sticks around a little longer for you.

I do as Traceyjane does and eat the same old thing until I come up with something new.

When I get feeling like that, I will either come on here and look for ideas from food posts, or go to all recipes website.

Hey, I am always switching up on stuff, I mostly live on frozen food but also get tired of things but I have to last a month with what i have and I have a very tight budge so sometimes I make odd things like just before a frozen waffle topped with a spicy pork sausage patty, with a slice of tomatoe and shredded chedar, In my toaster oven and I was good,

Would it help to check out a few new recipes? Of maybe list a few of the items you have and have a website/Chat come up with something.
