Public vs. Private

So one Mylotter asked a couple of days ago if my sister or BIL ever brushed Annelyn’s hair. I told her that IS Annelyn’s brushed hair. Annelyn is biracial, and that’s her hair. This is a picture from yesterday, but she had been mostly wearing her hair down. All throughout the cruise people have told her how much they love her hair. Two days ago, when we docked into Sydney, there were probably five people who said they loved her hair, but two people actually touched her hair. Annelyn was a good sport, but after the second person put their hand in her hair and later walked away, Annelyn put her hoodie over her hair, pulled it tight, and said, “My hair is private, not public!”

That's a bit rude.
Good for her for being a good sport, but jeez, people, compliment with words, don't go touching a person's hair without permission!

@AmbiePam It depends. When hubby was working a higher up woman from another office spoke with him. They were sitting together. The woman reached over and patted his knee. He told me about it later that day. I got angry. I told hubby he should talk to his supervisor. He ended up in a meeting with the woman and his super. She said touching was part of her culture. He wanted to know if she would have patted a sighted man's knee?? Hubby's job at the time was being a social worker. Of course even the janitor deserves respect.

I wouldn’t dream of touching anyone’s hair or anything without asking first! And yes, her hair is beautiful.
