Emotional overload can really take it's toll.

I'm not sure if that's the right title or way to describe the past few days, but to me, it is. Son had his eye surgery this past week. It was not in our city, so I had to plan and pack and be prepared for whatever might take place. I know what you're saying to yourself--isn't this woman used to him having surgeries by now? Um...NO. I'm not.
But this one was somehow even more stressful than when he had the surgery to repair his back and arm and ended up with the steel rod in his back, and such a long recovery. I was scared, because I was so unfamiliar of this condition, and knew no one that had ever had this surgery. Yes, I did the medical research and tried not to google myself down a huge pit of despair. I was more worried than ever, because cancer was mentioned.
For those of you who care to know, the tumor was successfully removed. There was no visible cancer, but the entire tumor was sent to be analyzed to be sure, which of course is what we all want. He may or may not retain all of his vision in that eye, he can see out of it but it is blurry and has been for quite some time, due to the tumor.
The idea that the doctor said if there was ''visible'' cancer, they would remove his eye, shook me to the core. He's already been through so much. Outwardly, I was as positive as I could possibly be, but in my head and heart, I was an emotional mess. I didn't sleep at all for like 36 hours...I tried, but I just couldn't. I think that it was just an overload--that my mind didn't' want to accept that it was even happening.
So many people called, texted, messaged, and prayed for him. I was and I am so very thankful for it all, and for help that we received.
For the sweet and caring messages I received from mylot friends, I can't tell you how much they were all appreciated. Thank you so, so much.

I am very glad there is no visible signs of cancer and the surgery went well.
. It's not something you ever get used to, especially when it's your child.

Oh, Eva…we are glad and will be fully reassured when the tests come back negative! And no, I will never get used to this.

I will pray that the lab work on the tumor also shows no cancer.

In all the procedures and surgeries he’s had, I’ve honestly never seen him scared—until this one. One of the nurses asked him if he had any concerns, and he said he was really worried and wanted to back out and go home. He also told the nurse he had never felt that way before. Now if his sight in that eye heals itself and the biopsy is negative, that will truly be a blessing. Thank you, Amber.

You are certainly welcome..and it sounds like you are both through the worst of it. I know you won't relax until you hear about the tumor..but best thoughts and wishes for you both.

I have always tried to be there for the kids if and when they needed me, if at all possible. It’s where I’m supposed to be. They are good people. Thanks so much.

We are glad, too. It will take some time to heal, but that's more than OK. Thanks so much.

I'm sure you feel wrung out after the last few weeks. But no visible cancer is a good result. We are all behind you in this. You are an inspiration to me for staying so positive throughout this whole journey. Emotionally drained maybe, but still putting on a very brave face.
