What kind of food do you feed your pets?

When I was young I would feed my cats Friskies or some other cheapo food. Then I learned about cat nutrition. I learned more than vets know about feline food.
Cats in particular don't process carbs/grains well. It causes them to gain weight. They do best on a meat-based diet whether it is canned or dried. I've fed my cat crew Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost for many years. They have all done well on it and aren't overweight.
Yes the 12 pound bag is expensive at $40+ but it also lasts to feed 3 cats for a month. I think it is worth it to pay for good food rather than have to deal with diabetes, hyothyroidism, etc.

@snowy22315 Same with Fred cat except its Science Diet C/D. He has heart issues, too, so I am feeding him only what the Vet tells me to.

@sallypup He was on that one. He likes it..but it seemed like it wasn't as effective as it once was..so I switched I still have some of the C /D though.

I feed Sadie, Iams, which is what my veterinarian recommended. She loves it. I would never feed her, like Alpo, which js the worst quality dog food as well as the cheapest. Maybe they won’t tell a difference in health now, but eventually they would if I fed them that crap.

That’s why I invest in expensive dog food. Because I would rather keep them healthy than spend money on vets that doesn’t even guarantee their survival.

I buy cheap stuff for the neighborhood cats because they aren’t mine.

I feed my cats a mid range food. I had two cats that got sick on so many things I made them home made chicken cat food.

I feed my dogs with a mix of both dry and wet food and sometimes incorporating chicken meats so that they will have more added protein.

I agree. Keep to whatever would be the natural food for a pet and avoid the processed stuff.
