And This Is Why I Don't Have Pumpkins On My Porch

I know a lot of people decorate for Fall and Halloween with all sorts of beautiful displays to simple little things.
I heard about this from a friend of a friend.
This person has her porch all decorated for Fall with mums and a few pumpkins. It really looks pretty and I've seen the pictures on Facebook.
Well, seems that the other night a mama bear and 2 babies came along and decided that her pumpkins looked tempting. They stole them off the porch, dragged them into her driveway, proceeded to rip them apart, eat their fill, and then left the mess in her driveway.
She caught it all on her ring camera.
We have lots of woods and wildlife in my neighborhood and we've seen bear sightings on occasion.
I certainly wouldn't want to get a notice on my ring camera and find bears on my porch. I'm happy with my few little mums for Fall decorations.

@Marilynda1225 - The wild boars dig with their big tusks, they really make a big mess. I have seen two foxes this morning, they are cute.

We don't have any wild boars here but the bears have become more frequent in our area. Usually in my neighborhood it's the deer that cause all the problems with people gardens.

We're surrounded by woods and farms here but bears walking down our streets in pretty new. Gues they are misplaced due to all the building going on and community of houses taking up their habitat,

You're right @Marilynda1225 it's so sad really because far too many people want them killed simply because they want to survive and have no where to find food other than our suburbs etc

We have a lot of deer here and they do wreck people's gardens. Its just been recently that there have been bear sightings here.

Bears can be very destructive when it comes to finding food. I enjoy seen many videos of bears breaking into cars looking for food.

No bears here. The deer will eat on them sometimes but where I set them they don't. It's close to the dog run

It would make sense the deer wouldn't want to mess with the dogs

I had raccoons get into mine before. A bear would surprise and scare me..but I wouldn't be shocked. I suspect they are in the vicinity although they have rarely been seen in this development. Like skunks, I have never seen one here. Although doesn't mean they aren't here

Well the poor bears were hungry. Being an animal lover I would put some food near the woods for them,

I switched over to fake/plastic pumpkins and metal yard stake pumpkins a couple of years ago. I also live near the woods and we have lots of wildlife in the area. Plus, real pumpkins tend to rot pretty quickly in the Florida heat and humidity.

It is extremely rude of them to leave such a mess
I would probably have been both scared and surprised to see them stealing the pumpkins

Luckily we don’t have bears here .
I do get pumpkins but not for decoration ….for cakes and soups.

Around here the raccoons would probably attack pumpkins.

Your situation is pretty understandable. With lots of wildlife around, it's best not to do things that would attract them to you, 'cause trust me, they will keep coming back, hoping to see more.

What a shame. We also have a lot of wildlife here, no bears, but wild boars always make a big mess.
