How Do You Save Money?

candygurl24 @candygurl24 (1879) • Canada 19 Jan 07

There are many methods out there to save money, but this discussion is not about how to save it while shopping etc. It is about that little change jar in the corner, the methods that you have to save up extra cash that you already...

sassymoon Nice topic. I save money by "trying not to save money". I'll explain. I used to think that if I went to sales (midnight madness sales, weekend sales, payday sales in the mall) that I could save money like that. Well, I always ended up buying things I...

sassymoon your post is timely as i've been thinking about this too. one big fear of mine is waking up 20 years later, kids all grown, and me not knowing what to do with myself and not even knowing what I like/don't like, can/ can't do anymore. worse, waking up next to...

Do you think Self Help Books are actually helpful?

Pigglies @Pigglies (9329) • United States 13 Jan 07

I used to read a lot of self help books. A lot of times, I found they were really so generalized that they couldn't help me. Currently I'm reading "Get Off the Fence!" for tips on how to make major decisions. So far, it seems...

sassymoon I have read quite a lot of self help books. There are some which are full drivel, but there are also a few that really make you think, and make you look at a particular thing in a different way. In this sense, they're helpful. We can't really make...

"Our" Money

kristypants @kristypants (305) • Canada 18 Jan 07

If the husband is out working and the wife is a stay at home mom, do you think it should still be referred to as "our money"? I think that just because being a stay at home mom isn't a technical job, it's more work than alot of...

sassymoon I pity the wife whose husband thinks like this. Being a stay at home wife and mom IS the wife's contribution to the family. Anyone who has tried this will know that it involves more than staying at home, watching television the whole day. Moms of preschoolers...

sassymoon I also thought that I would never use a leash for my kid, but at the bookstore a few days ago, I lost sight of her and I got so terrified. She's at the age where she doesn't like to sit in the stroller for long, and when you put her in a cart, she wants to...
