GraceAlexander1 started a new discussion called Should parents have the right to choose if their children live or die?.
The little girl who died from diabetes has been the focus of some intense discussion. One faction keeps popping up and insisting that, right or wrong, the parents are protected in their choice to deny their daughter medical care. They affirm that religious freedom affords them the right to have the power of life and death over their child. Excuse me. We're talking about a little girl who wou...

GraceAlexander1 started a new discussion called religious rights VS women's rights?.

Oh boy. I live in TX, so of course, the news is all about the polygamist compound raid. How far do we go to protect religious freedom in this country? How long do we let perpetrators of abuse hide behind the facade of "It's our religon"?Do your religious rights top my rights as a woman - heck, as a human being? And only one girl blew the whistle... does that mean that the others we...

GraceAlexander1 responded to a discussion called Mother drowns her 5 month old baby in people.

Apparently, genetics trumps all. She has rights to the child, no matter what, according to current law; it's not right, I agree! The statistics on children that turn upi dead even after intervention is staggering. The kid goes back, or in this case, just allowed to be unsupervised during a visit, and presto, one dead kid. And of course the poor 'mother' pleads it out as frikkin postpartum d...

GraceAlexander1 commented in a discussion called what religion? in big love.

There probably aren't any families like the one on the show that live in luxury, but the show doea have a frighteningly acuratte portrayal of life for the fringe groups that still practice polygamy as outcasts from the main Mormon church. It DOES still exist, and it IS almost a form uf human slavery for the women and girl living in these rural areas. There are several foundations to help women ...

I love the part at the end when the Little prince asks the snake if it will hurt...you can almost hear his voice quaver; makes me cry every time.

I clicked on this to post EXACTLY what coffeeshot said - and said very well, too. Homosexuality was not taboo in Ancient Greece and there are plenty of accounts of gay people in records of that time...later it became rejected as perversion and they went underground...In England it was a crime punishable by death for centuries.

I would quote something from Pulp Fiction, but there are too many good ones... How about another old classic, "We're getting too old for this sh**..." --Lethal Weapon 4

GraceAlexander1 commented in a discussion called It is so difficult to get a writing star. Whats your view? in helium.com.

By the time I had 8 or 9 articles I had 2 blues; I have 22 articles now and still have managed to hang onto them...If you average above the 15th percentile in ranking then you get bonus stars, even if you don't have enough articles to actually qualify for them yet... I also have 5 rating stars, and I have only been on Helium for less than 45 days!

GraceAlexander1 commented in a discussion called Should Muslim women be punished after being raped?.
Actually, this discussion was started in response to an actual event. The men who gang raped the Muslim woman used the excuse that she deserved it for flirting with one of them and were given less than nine years apiece for thier crime. No penises were cut off. I have a close Muslim friend and have respect for the true Islamic Law but the fact remains that acts like this are continually justifi...

Should Muslim women be punished after being raped?

This is a question that has been broached recently in a group I participate in. Under Islamic law, a woman who has been raped is often punished for having put herself in a position that allowed the...

Are women ever going to be treated as equal to men in the workplace?

Women are equal to men in all but testosterone and possibly upper body strength...so why are they continually treated as second class citizens?Lip service is given to women in society and on the job,...
