I posted this under "health" but it could be under music.. or life.. - Does anyone dance when they are all by their self? I love to dance when no one is around.. the doors are locked.. I can turn up the music and move and act as ridiculous as I want.. It's very freeing.. good for ya, and to me, it's very spiritual as when we're by our selves, we follow the next move that comes into our mind/spirit.. - I do worry that sometime we'll go out dancing, or be at a wedding, and I'll have some beers, and forget and dance like I do at home..! but at least I would make a fool of myself without falling on my face! - Dancing is the funnest exercise going (to my mind!:)

Oh I love to dance when I am alone. It's is just like you said, freeing. I do dance with my girls as they are just as silly as I am. However I won't dance in public. I picture myself looking alot like Elaine from Seinfeld LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xi4O1yi6b0

Yes, Elaine from Seifeld.. exactly! I don't often get the chance to dance in public (anytimes' a good time to dance; unless I haven't done it for a few weeks!) But when I do I seem to be able to keep it a low key version of at home..

My kids love to dance and perform. They know all the words and dance moves to the movie High School Musical. Last time they watched it, I was on the computer in the same room and sort of watching it with them. They danced and sang through the final number. Then I sent them to bed. After they were gone I was dancing and singing the final number myself - without the DVD on! When I am in the kitchen preparing dinner I put the stereo on and I dance along with the music. Sometimes I make sure no one sees me, other times I don't care if the hubby and kids see me. The kids will join in or just laugh at me. I'm not a bad dancer they just think it's funny to see Mom let loose, so to speak. And I have no problems dancing in front of people at weddings and such. Especially with my husband because he is an excellent dancer. He has taken several lessons and was even a champion step dancer when he was a teenager.

..that's cute! "high school musical" is a favorite of my granddaughter and I like a lot of the songs!:) We bought the music and have it online for her.. I just burned a copy of it for my grand niece's birthday.. - What you said about your husband's dancing, and seeing the two of you dancing in my mind's eye, made me get back up and dance! - Are you old enough to remember "the monkey" and "the jerk"? I've been known to intersperse my dancing with them sometimes. I think of it as a comic routine thrown in..

Rarely,I will occasionally start dancing; but, I usually SING. My family says I have a terrible voice and can't carry a "tune in a bucket"; so, I usually sing when no one else is around and it is also very uplifting and freeing.

I do it all the time. I don't even realize it's happening until someone catches me doing it. I always have music going in the house and a certain song will just set me off...it's usually the kids who catch me, a look of abject horror on their faces...I'm no Fred Astaire

OK, you caught me. I do dance (my sad version of dancing) on occasion. I don't ever actually dance in real life, but when a music video comes on, or a catchy commercial appears, I'll do my own little jog. And my dogs just stare. I think I might frighten them, LOL. But it is a good way to burn off some calories!

..I danced for three hours with my mother at my brother's house this summer, the evening of my sister's wedding.. My sister in law and her sister, and my brother were dancing too.. My mom's 67 (i'm 52).. Course it wasn't all vigorous dancing! Not on my part anyway! Maybe mom's!

are you kidding me? dancing is one of the best stress relievers there is. put on some good music, whatever it is that you like and dance, dance, dance. i love to dance when there is music playing. i used to be self conscious about it, but now i just don't care. it makes me feel good and i sure don't hurt anyone. heck, if someone is laughing at the way i dance, then that is making them happy too. and tha is a good thing. dance on, my friends!!

Yes, I like to dance when no one is around. The dogs and cats look at me funny but at least they can't laugh. It is kind of an exercise, especially if you do it long enough.

You betcha! I turn on my satellite radio while getting ready for work each morning. I dance about and sing. The kids have usually left or are in their rooms getting ready. The cat sits in a spot in between my bedroom and bathroom...(I am dancing about between these two areas)..and looks at me with a look of ,"what the heck are you doing." I'm sure if he could, he'd laugh out loud!

..yes, my cat is rather disdainful of my carryings on. Cats can have that withering/are they crazy, way of watching humans.. My cats eyes look at me with a cross between a dirty look and "just whaT is her problem!?" :)!

Dancing is basically my main form of exercise. With arthritis and Fibromyalgia I'm fairly limited on what I can do for exercise but I find my body takes dancing pretty well. I love it too, I've always been a dancer. So that works out well doesn't it? LOL

.. yes, my mom who has rheumatoid arthritis likes to dance, and it agrees with her too.. She's 67 and we danced together for three hours this summer, the evening of my sister's wedding.. she's quite a trooper. - I'm glad dancing works for her.. and for you!!

I dance around alot, not when the house is empty. just when i feel like doing it. and i usually whip up a few air guitar moves to combine in with it.

...really? that's funny.. that's my favorite time to dance.. like the saying "dance like no one is watching" - I'm quite expressive in my dancing, and I tone it down when dancing in public.. else folks would think I was somewhat ditzy..

I do.I love to dance all by myself alone in my house with the doors locked.I feel free, and if i goof no one sees me.it is also very good exercise..I agree its a lot of fun to turn on the music and just let yourself dance.

Hi Slickcut! I always can use the exercise, as most things I do are sit down jobs.. or pulling weeds, which seems like it should keep muscles toned and burn lots of calories, but mostly it just makes my muscles stiff, so I walk a little bit like a frankenstein's monster for a minute!

I love to watch dancing but not when I am on the dance floor. When I am alone, I too turn the volume up but I do not really dance. At times, I lost myself by shaking and jumping wildly. Yes, I don't go slow. It was supposed to be exercise. lol.

Yes, I do dance when I'm alone. It is fun and a great form of excercise. I do not dance in public. In public I get too shy..self-concious. But you are right...dancing alone is not only great for the body but the mind also!

I don't mind dancing in public.. but do have to tone it down a bit! Otherwise when I notice people are looking at me like, wow, what a geek! Not that I dance poorly, just that I can get a bit carried away..

Yes, me also. I am not a good dancer. During parties and some social gathering I never dance at all. But, when I am alone I dance a lot. Having my MP4 plug in my ears, I love to dance on the rhythm of great tracks of Bollywood and English songs.
