While small children typically takes nap in the afternoon, our culture generally frowns upon mid-day sleep; however, even those who get enough sleep (but particularly in those who don't, many people experience a natural decrease in drowsiness in the afternoon, about 8hours after waking. And research shows that you can make yourself more alert, reduce stress and improve cognitive functioning with a nap. Mid-day sleep or a power nap means more patience, less stress, better reaction time, increased learning, more efficiency and better health. Here's a fact - Our body needs 7-8 hours of sleep per day; 6 hours or less triples your rish for car accident. So why not take a nap? i usually take a nap in mid afternoon, as most people's bodies naturally become more tired in the afternoon, about 8hours after we wake up. Do you also take a nap? When do you usually take a nap?

I wish I could take a nap but I just can't. I am like such a workaholic. Right now I'm taking like two classes at my University and then three online so that I could keep working. And then aside from working I do a lot of online stuff to earn some extra cash. I really wish I could sleep but when I do try and take a few minutes I just can't because I keep thinking about stuff that I have to do, either it deals with my job or my school assigments. I have gone taken a nap befoer like around 2pm but it's really weird if that does happen. It's like once in a blue moon.

i understand that you have a hectic schedule ayumitakashi but sometimes we should find time to rest, cause our body will not function effectively if we are so stressed. As i've said, it can also increase the risk for a car accident. If you take a nap, just forget for awhile all the things that you need to do so you can sleep for an hour or two. even 30minutes will be good enough. :) Hope you'll have a great day!

I'm the type that i will take a nap everyday if i can. No matter how long i sleep at night.More than 8 hours or less than that.Usually 5 hours. I'm still the same and feel sleepy everytime, everywhere especially in school.Lolz...^.^

Well Claire, I would love to take a nap in the middle of the day, but I work full-time , so I don't think my Boss would approve of that idea! After all - they do not pay me to sleep!! LOL! I do get 8 hurs sleep though - I go to bed reasonably early to ake sure I do, otherwise I would not be capable of doing my job!

In the office i previously worked, we have one hour lunch time break, after eating they don't mind if we take a nap as long as we come back to our desk when it's already time. Usually, we always take a nap and we have a special room where we can lay to take a nap. this is just ok to some companies but i guess not to all. God bless you rosie! :0

Now and then I will take a nap when I get very little sleep at night and feel out of it. The problem is, when I wake up, I am still tired and don't want to get up! I am OK if I go, go, go but if I stop and sleep, I want to stay sleeping because I do deprive myself of sleep at night. I took a nap today, as a matter of fact, and feel BLAH. I want to go to bed rather than feeling energized. I don't think npps are good for me. I have to fight tiredness and sleep when I can at night. I could never even do 15 to 30 minutes. I would be so tired when I got up, it wouldn't be funny. Naps are sooooo appealing but they seem to make me more tired!

I can't take it during work obviously, but there are times I just crash after work and just go to bed. I usually wake up recharged, or other times I just sleep to the next day. I'm now just coming back from a nap and it was a great one. So maybe I'll hang out late at night on mylot.

I can't take a nap because it's too bright outside. I can't sleep unless it's cold and dark in my room. I know that sounds weird, but that's how I like to sleep.

I could use a nap. I just dont think I can spare the time. I guess if I took a quick nap I might work better and get more done anyway. Maybe I will try it out when I have a day that isnt quite so hectic and I will let you all know.

I can't nap during the week but I love nothing more than a nice Sunday afternoon nap. Places in Europe have breas during the day for people to nap and energize themselves before returning to work. A nap can't hurt and if you are really tired it can make you more alert and productive. But sometimes when I nap I can not get a full nights sleep as I am not tired eough to sleep soundly.

Me it all depends on your timing.Between 1 or 3pm.when you naturally have a midday stump in alertness is best[and you thought it was that mind-numbing project at work]If you nap later, you may have trouble nodding off at night.limit naps to 15 to 30 minutes, any longer and you'll get into the deep stages of sleep, whish will leave you feeling groggy. The exception: Take a one to two-hour nap Saturday afternoon if you're planning on partying all night. You''ll feel fuzzy at first, but then you'll be ready to rage.thank you claire and god bless!

When I was a kid it was very natural for us to take a nap.Because in the morning the most time we went work to the garden or around the house and then have a lunch and about 1 or 2 o clock we took a nap for hour or so.But whole family , not only kids. Now I do also take the nap, but not so often, becuase I have problems with speeling.if I would take a nap I wouldn't sllep in the night. So when i take a nao I have to be really tired. And the most times it is around 2 o clock

I can't take naps during the day. I work so I can't. But even if I could I still wouldn't take a nap during the day because if I do I get so mean I don't even like myself. I don't know why I get like that though. So I just never take a nap during the day unless I'm sick.

Hi claire03, I don't usually take a nap in the afternoon, but I have read about what you say here. I am retired and in my day, it was unheard of where I live. A friend and I were discussing the same thing recently, and it appears that even some large companies are checking out the idea. I think that this is a good discussion. Hope you get lots of comments. Blessings.
