What are your plans for Easter Sunday?

Starting a new tradition - easter dinner

I'm trying to be "upbeat" about Easter Sunday this year but since it's the first holiday without my Mom I'm having a very hard time doing it. Usually we would all go to her apartment for dinner but this year I asked everyone to come to my apartment and I'm going to do all the cooking and have a little easter egg hunt for my granddaughter. I'm thinking if I put all my energy into cleaning up and cooking maybe I won't have the time to think about how depressing the whole day will be without my Mom. I know my kids are going to be feeling it to and I'm going to do my best to make it a great day for them and start a new tradition of everyone coming to my apartment for holiday dinners. Do you have plans for Easter Sunday? Who will be doing the cooking hiding easter eggs if any?

For the last few years now we don't do anything for Easter anymore. When my kids were young we would always do the egg hunt thing and then go to church and do it there also. Then we would all go to my mom's for supper and that was always fun since I come from a huge family and everyone would be there. But now all of our kids are grown and we don't get together as a family very much anymore, just at Christmas. It's kind of sad, really. I talked to my son yesterday, March 21st, and wished him a happy birthday and told him I was moving to Calgary in the next couple weeks, so I was hoping he would invite me over for supper for Easter, but it didn't happen. I guess they aren't making dinner either, as his wife is a nurse and is working that day. So I guess it will just be me and my husband, but that's okay too. It will be a quiet time for us.

I'm sorry that this coming Easter will be so hard on you. You have a great plan though. How can you help but have your heart lifted when you see your granddaughter look for Easter eggs? : ) There is a kind of therapy in doing something for other people. I'll be going to church on Easter morning, and then I'll have dinner with my parents. Low key, but we are really the only family that lives in this area. My sister and other family live several hours away.

I don't really have any special plans. I'll go to church as usual then to my parents for dinner - all of us 'kids' get assigned what to bring by Mom, she puts it 'could you bring' but really means 'I want you to bring...' She and my step-dad have a egg hunt for the little ones and then a scavanger type hunt for the 'big kids' which includes anyone how is there for dinner no matter what the age (52 and I still do it).

This is my first holiday without my mom also. she just passed in January. My daughter has a big house and so she has been having the holidays at her place for the past few years and we all cook and bring something. Still mom has always been a part of these things and so it will be different. I will try to get into enjoying my grandchildren and make up some baskets and I'll be working in the afternoon so hopefully it will be a good time despite. I'm sorry about your mom and I hope you and your family will be able to share some good memorys of her and still manage to have a good holiday. My thoughts will be with you.

I am having my brother and his family over for easter, and doing an easter egg hunt for the kids. I am looking forward to it less and less as the time is getting nearer but I know that I will be okay. It was my mothers 2nd anniversary today and a close friend called out for the day to keep my spirits up. She even coloured and straightened my hair for me today to cheer me up....and gave me some clothes that she had only worn a couple of times and grown out of. When she went I called her when she got home and thanked her for what she did. She really made a difference to my day. :-)

Ya know, I am not sure. My Mom always has dinner at her house, I think, or maybe it is at my Aunts? I never can keep track. I am hoping that is our only stop. Last year my MIL did not celebrate Easter at all because they went out of town and besides us and my husband brother, no one else was in town. This year she may celebrate though because it is the first official grandchild’s first Easter and they are living with my MIL. Honestly, I really don’t like holidays. I could just skip it all and be perfectly happy! We do die Easter eggs usually a day or tow before because my son enjoys doing that. I always buy him a small basket, my Mom does baskets for everyone in the family. Usually the weather here is either way to cold or too hot to really do anything outside.

This Easter is going to be rather special to me and my wife. I am planning to take a break and go vacation overseas, to a nearby country. Just for a few days and then back to work. I think I deserve some good rest before embarking on a new online marketing project.

I'll be spending Easter Sunday the same way I've been spending it ever since I was a child. Hear Sunday mass with my family and just spend the day at home with my whole family and just chill out.

Bless your heart, I'm so sorry that you lost your mom, I don't know how you feel because I still have my mother but I know it must be rough. My family and I either stay at home and just relax on Easter Sunday or we will go to his mother's house to have lunch and just relax there. We don't usually know until the day before what our final plans will be. I hope you have a blessed day!! SheliaLee

I am going to my daughter's in Lincoln Nebraska. I went there last year too but this will be the last time I get to spend a holiday with them for a while. They will be moving to Rome NY after my son in law finishes officer training. She will be doing a ham and and hiding the easter eggs. I made the Easter Jars and filled them with candy for my granddaughter and my daughter to share. But it will be fun!

The dinner is at my place, I really need to get cleaning! I also need to cook! We don't have any children, my brothers and I, we have just dogs and cats. I don't know if they would get into Easter Egg hunts. My cat really got into a cat nip hunt the other night. He was battting the heck out of everything I owned. I had put some catnip from the store down, it came in a plastic bag. I'd forgotten about it and piled other stuff on top of it. He was fighting the other stuff off to get down to it. He was really going for it. I'm glad you're going to start a new tradition. Happy Easter Egg hunting! We watch movies instead of Easter Egg hunts which means my husband has got to sift through our movies and find some good ones. I hope the weather is nice so we can go for a walk outside or so my brother and husband can look at stuff in his workshop and maybe I and my sister in law can rock outside and work on some crafts on the porch. Take care

I have no idea what we will be doing for Easter yet. I'm a fly by the seat of my pants kinda girl and I always wait till the last minute to plan stuff. You can bet that there will be food and fun involved though. I'm so upset to hear about your Aunt. I know you are having a very hard time this year. We are all here for you anytime you want to vent.
