You put your mail out to get picked up. The postal carrier delivers your mail, and leaves the out going right where it is? This has happend more than a few times to me. And today I have had it. Whenever we have a sub, this happens.I work from home. I have actual work that gets mailed. My husband usually mails it out on his way to work, but a family friend had car trouble. So in his rush to get out, he left it. We currently have one car. So it isn't like I can just drive down to th PO and drop it off. I thought "No biggie" and put it out. I heard the carrier put mail in the box. It's right next to the front door. I went to retrieve it.. and there was my mail to be picked up. I called the Post office this time, to have someone come by..3 hours later and still waiting..

Laziness is, unfortunately, to be expected.

Yes! Numerous time where we used to live. I would have bills to go out or packages to be sent back and there would be days where the mail was never taken. I even made a sign that said, "Please Take the Outgoing Mail" and it still happened a few times after that. I think I even called to complain because of something to do with my credit card. Can't remember exactly what it was about.

When I lived in a apartment, I ordered some candles from a friend. I started to think my candles got lost somewhere from California to Tennessee. Well, my friend felt bad so she sent me more that she got for free. I heard someone coming up to my apartment door, what I saw really upset me. It was my postman, dropping my candles on my outside floor from elbow level. I opened the door fast, and said thank you for damaging my candles for me. He took better care of handling my mail from then on. Now at my new house, our mail woman has put mail in my box but left mail inside. I haven't figured out how you miss mail inside and a flag up. I also have learned to deal with the fact that I might get my mail around 2 all the way up to 6 in the afternoon, instead of noon like we used to is because our mail woman has a huge route.

It has happened to me a few times too and it makes me so mad because most of the time i am sending a bill out and it must go out that day or it may get there late. Our mail person also hangs my packages on my mailbox and one day someone will steal them or they will be rained on. She also shoves packages in my mailbox also and wrinkles up clothing or whatever is in the package instead of bringing ti to my daughter which is only a couple of steps away from my mailbox.

yes, I have had it happen and as you said, usually with subs...I once chased the mailman down and handed him the mail he left in my mail slot. I have asthma and was all out of breath as I handed it over to him. he said,"sorry, I've already done your place so you'll have to wait till tomorrow. I can only do my mail in order." I could not even respond to that. Then he started laughing...he was just kidding.

I have had that happen once to me, but according to the mail driver when I questioned him the following day about it, he said I didn't have enough postage on it, so I placed an extra stamp on it, and he took it. I think you did the right thing by calling the post office to complain about it. Hopefully it helps for in the future.

I have never had this problem where I live now. It always gets picked up. When I was living in the city I never put my mail in the mailbox to get picked up simply because I did not trust the neighbors to leave my mail alone.

Wow that would be frustrating! I would write a letter to your Postmaster General (I'm sure if you call your Post office they'll give his/her name too) and explain your problem. It might help. Our problem is that we've been here 3 years now and still get previous owners' mail. We've called our Post Office and Postmaster General, and still we get it. I think it's because it's sorted by address and they don't pay attention to name. But it is very annoying, especially when 2 of the previous owners actually still live in town!
