What are the subjects that just get you all riled up? For me it is anything to do with animals/animal rights. I cannot always control my passion and desire to get my point of view across. I have strong feelings about eating and otherwise consuming animal products, keeping pets, zoos, animals for entertainment, etc.. whenever I see someone talking about animals I want to jump in!! I try to contain myself as much as possible, though, for fear of coming across as "that weird extremist vegan girl"... You know those subjects where you feel that if people would just listen to you they might understand why you are so passionate, but it feels like they just don't care to listen so you end up looking loony?!

Animal abuse/rights, environment, child abuse are my main 3 in that order. I try not to even come to mylot if I am in a b*tchy mood cause it never fails to come out here on those issues if I happen to run across them.

Are you a vegan? I only ask because you said animal rights and I am always looking for new vegans to talk to! Yes, the environment is another big one for me!

No, I'm not a vegan but I don't like the way the cattle, pigs, chickens, etc are treated. Even thou they are grown for food, doesn't mean they have to be treated the way they are. I only eat meat from animals that were treated humanely from birth right up to their slaughter. Pretty much means I only eat the meat I buy from my neighbors since I know first hand they are treated right. Almost like pets.

I think it is great you feel that way about not eating meat, but it will not stop me from eating it. I love animals too, and take them them off the street and I do anything that I can for them. I like to stay away from american politics, I am a canadian but some not all mind you but some american act like the want to kill a person that doesn't have the same political views that they do. I have been on a few foreigns in the past that I left in discussed, these people were down right vicious.

and I don't agree with your opinion, I respect your point of view but you do cannot say it is a mistake to a meat eater that is where you do cross the line and get into the realm of judging. I am not judging you and I think it is great that you are a vegan, but your life style is not the only one that is okay, we all have our lives styles and what is not good for one is good for another.

I am not judging anyone, I am stating what I believe. It is the same way someone says they believe those who do not believe in God are going to go to Hell, or something similar. It is not judging them, it is simply their belief. Simple as that. If someone kills an animal for their food how are they caring for that animal? It doesn't fit together in my head. I never said there is only one "okay" way to live. I don't believe that there is or that the way I live is how everyone should. That would be ridiculous!

I realize my actions will not change other people's. I have influenced some people close to me to give up meat, but I know it is not easy to change the way people think and act. It would be a misstatement to say you do all you can for animals if you continue to consume them. That is just my opinion. Like I said this is a touchy topic for me and I cannot stop myself from stating how I feel. I try to abstain from offending anyone, but I just can't seem to keep my mouth shut!

Yeah it's the animals for me too. Cosmetic testing on animals, factory farms, dairy cows, battery cage hens the list goes on. I've copped some slack for speaking up about these things and you find that a lot of people stereotype animal lovers as being crazy stupid animal rights campaigners. They'll put you down without even listening to your point of view. I prefer to just casually drop things into the conversation here and there instead of jamming things down people's throats. I like it when I make a subtle comment and then someone asks me more questions about the issue. I also feel quite strongly about gay rights. I'm not gay, nor do I really know anybody who is but it just bothers me so much and gets me riled up.

Bigotry in any form be it racial, religious , sexuality you name it! We are all entitled to our own opinions and I respect that but what I cannot tolerate is when people are nasty, abusive and hurtful to others as they think their opinions are all that matters - it is very easy to disagree with another persons opinion without falling out, name calling or any other kind of attack! If we could all be more tolerant , respectful and caring of others the world would be a far better place! And so ends Mummymo's sermon! lol xxx

Hunting for sport gets me going. I can remember an argument at work with a hunter and the next thing you know I am pretending to be Bambi's mother running up and down the hallways like a goof. It makes my blood boil. I also get upset about religion sometimes and try to keep my mouth shut but sometimes I just can't. I am an Atheist and work with someone who insists that we all believe in some higher power. I then have to inform her that no, we don't all believe in some higher power. I believe in me! Then there are the people that hate based on weight. I get upset when people think that fat people are all lazy and eat like pigs. These are a few of the things that send me off the deep end. I have to say I get most upset at cruelty to animals though. I like animals more than people.

Wikipedia tells me that stone tools were invented several million years ago, Up until that time humans would have been vegetarians out of necessity. But in the centuries that followed Humans discovered Fire, and learned to cook meat. Meat changed their lives dramatically, for now they an easy source of protein,a source of energy and heat to warm them in the winter and to provide the energy to hunt and gather food. They were better able to raise more and healthier children. People ate meat and Loved it. Meat provides the flavor to make soup, and the seasoning in which to cook vegetables. People have been healthy and happy carnivores for upwards to 1 million Years! People Have for a good part of their evolution have been carnivorous. Our digestive system is that of a carnivore. And the fact that the average person on the street Loves his/her meat proves this point to me! Everyone has the right of choice in their eating habits. As a Senior I have recently cut down on the percentage of meat on my plate. I have discovered that I don't need as much red meat as I used to eat,Perhaps Vegetarians are a throw-back to the ancient Herbivores! Fad diets have always been trendy! Go with what seems right for you and God Bless!

I do not consider vegetarianism a fad diet by any means. Perhaps some people look at it that way, but not I. I abstain from eating animal products not because I believe it is most natural or even necessarily healthy for humans, but for personal, ethical, and environmental reasons. It gives me a peace unlike any I have experienced before and I truly believe it is the best decision I have made in my life thus far. I think at the very least people need to look at how much meat is necessary for them and realize that the majority of people are simply eating too much! My heart is aching every day for all of the poor animals (including humans) out there.

Hi wooitsmolly, I love animals and I can get very upset when I see them being mistreated. So far, I have not given up eating meat, so I cannot talk about those who kill for food, as long as it is done humanely. I am not gay myself, but I have a brother who is, and him and his partner have lived together for over 30 years. They are the happiest couple that I know and it is always a pleasure to visit with them. I become upset when I see gays being treated as second class citizens and sometimes refused even the most basic of rights. I have little patience with those who continue to claim that being gay is a choice. There are others, but these are two of the things that can get me riled. I need to take a deep breath now. Blessings.

Love your avatar! Cute little owl.. one of my favorite animals! I feel the same way about the gay thing. My best friend is gay and I have been very close to her and her partners for a long time. Since way back when we became friends I have had to deal with a lot of people thinking we were dating and getting looked down upon. I usually do not tell them we're not just because it's none of their business and I do not care for people who get their panties in a twist about gay people anyway. Don't people have better things to worry about? Although I have to admit sometimes I think it is funny that people will discriminate against me for something they only *assume* I am.

I don't find your views extremist or weird at all. I am passionate about green issues and the environment and how long it has taken politicians to take notice of things I have known for years about the damage we are doing to our beautiful planet and the destruction we cause to so much of the natural environment. As I get older I get increasingly upset whenever I read or hear about innocent children being made to suffer, from abuse, neglect or cruelty.

Be that weird extremist vegan girl, if that is who you are.... Womens rights, equality, civil rights. I'm big on politics, but what bothers me is I find that politics is very personal and starts at home, and is vested in core beliefs. People just try to think of it as another world, but it's the world that affects this world we live in directly....And people don't seem to care as much as they should.... I'm appalled at all the things that go on in this country, that everyone talks about and says is so horrible, but they do absolutely not a thing...

I have many subjects that get me riled up, some are small, some are large. I am also passionate about animals and animal rights, children and parenting. I get into more heated discussions over the sate of society today, and how everyone feels they have to dress like hookers for whatever reason. My list goes on, it all depends on my mood and the currect circumstances.

Well, for me, it would probably be anything that is unfair. As in unfair rising of prices at the expense of the peope. As in unfair treatment of people when it comes to distribution of wealth. As in unfair treatment of people who work their butt off for a company who fire them without batting an eyelid. ... ... stuff like that. I gripe a lot, but there was nothing much I could do about such things. Drives my wife nutty sometimes. Other wise, as long as I have no worries about life, pretty much anything can go by me without riling me too much.
