My Heart Is Going In & Out Mummy - When my son heard the thunder

We have just a thunder storm and it was overhead and very loud and my son came running across the room (he is 4) and said mummy mummy my heart is going in & out, bless him. He meant pounding but didn't know the word so we snuggled on the sofa until the storm passed. What funny phrases or words have your children used when trying to explain something. Ellie :D

My favourite was when we went over one of those little hills in the road that make your tummy feel peculiar, well my son complained that it 'made his willy feel tickly'

I remember once I walked to the shops with my 2 girls. Jo would have been about 4. We passed a block of flats and there were some kids playing there about her age. One of the little girls was a dark skinned aborigine. Jo said "Mum! There's a very, very, very, very, brown person. I think it was the first time she had seen a dark skinned child. I was amazed at her description, how did she figure it out like that. I was also quite amused. . Same with your son...how amazing that he described his heartbeat so well. It was probably his first time to be aware of it.

Aw! Poor little boy. My son is 8 and he still sometimes hides behind the recliner when there is a storm. I am sure my son had said something funny before, but I can't think of any right now.

Many years back when my little Lisa was three she used to say mommy mommy pick baby up, and I had to 'laugh as she knew her name yet it was always pick baby up so I picked her up and cuddled with her. She 'must have got that baby thing from overhearing my husband and I talking about the baby, she was the baby of our family as we had a son a year older than Lisa. But every once in a while she would call herself baby.lol,

Hi Hatley, that is so funny and just so cute, I wonder why she didn't say her name or just pick me up but use baby. Thank you so much for sharing. Ellie :D

It was just the way he descibed his heart pounding because he was frightened as going in and out, they are just so cute at that age eh! I love storms as long as I am inside and they help clear the air of mugginess but you sound like you would be in the cupboard under the stairs with my nan she was frightened too. Ellie :D

My little granddaughter was painting one day in my studio using alot of paint..I finally told her that she didn't need anymore and she had a big explaination about how it was shrinking and that when it shrunk she really needed more. I really don't know what she meant but she said it in such a grown up way I let her have more paint! LOL

Well how could you not let her have more paint after such a long serious explanation. LOL. They are just funny at that age aren't they. Thank you for sharing this Jill. Ellie :D
