Little Muncher - Eating some bread I threw outside

I had a couple large buns/biscuits left over. So I threw them out for the birds, and squirrels. This morning I caught this little critter munching away yet constantly looking at me in the window as he did so. he was very leery of the object he saw as the flash kept going off. This is the best shot I got of him through my window glass. But he was soo cute eating the bred chunks. Do you set breads of any type out for the birds or squirrels or other little munchers? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

What type of rodents do you have then? The squirrel is a member of the rodent family like rats and mice etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We do not eat a lot of bread, or it goes in spurts, most of the time we do not eat a lot of bread. I will throw it out if I do have some going bad. I throw a lot of stuff in my compost and I know the raccoons and possums eat there, as well as the bunnies, squirrels, and birds. We cut off a red cedar tree and hubby puts full cobs ofdried corn on it to feed the wildlife. Sometimes annoying two legged critters mess with it.They pull it off, throw it in the yard, etc. I cannot wait to see your picture to see whose picture you captured.

Well that's sad that the 2 legged critters do that. We will have ears of corn for them this fall after our corn is harvested as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi GB! That is so cute! we have also this animal at Bali island They living at the tree always near the offering place. they really smart to choose a place for living. Beside flowers and scents, Balinese sometimes put banana, eggs, biscuit, apple, rambutan fruits at their offering. Lucky ones!! I always love to see their attraction climb down the tree and reach for food there with their hand, so cute, specially the tail. Happy posting to you too, GB! OOXx`dian

They climb the trees a lot here. They make their nests in tree tops in the early fall as well to have their babies and spend the nights in the winter time here in Minnesota. They will eat anything almost as they are a member of the rodent family. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

If I put out anything like that for the birds and or squirrels my dog and cat would eat it before they could get to it. A lady that used to live next door would always put out pecans for the squirrels.

I do feed the birds, but unfortunately the way my house is set out, there is no window onto the back garden and so if I feed them I cannot see them come down for it. I would like to get a bird table and bath in there though, that would be nice.

No I don't feed the birds, I am afraid that the neighbours will complain, they don't like the birds and squirells eating up their gardens.

Awwww. that is cute. We like to feed the birds and squirrels also. We also have some geese that land in the pond and we take bread down there, that is outdated, and we break it up and feed it to them also. They eat it right up. They are starting to be more friendly now also because we feed them.

furry friend - One of our cute little squirrels that come to visit sometimes. This was taken out my door that leads to the patio and the tree is right there at the corner of the patio.
Here is a picture of one of our neighborhood furry friends.

I can't do that, either Gus would eat it or Cookie would kill the poor critters. I love feeding squirrels, though, they're so beautiful.

I'm always throwing stuff out there for the critters. I'll toss old bread for the squirrels and birds, and damaged fruit and vegetable pieces as well as peelings go over the fence for the deer, rabbits, etc. All the critters around here are fat and happy (myself included - mayhaps I should send more out the door?).

I save all our stale bread, of which there is lots when the weather is hot, and soak it in water then feed it to the chickens. It's really handy for tempting them back into their house at night if they won't come otherwise, and they always fall upon it as if they've never been fed.

I love to watch the little animals eat. We do not have such things in town. WE use to have some bunnies who lived in the caul-de sack but they are gone now. I loved seeing them but they kept eating my flowers.

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Oh that is cute! However there are only cats that have been frequenting our place at nights and hubby and I usually place a plateful of food for them. They can't come during the day since the dogs are out during those times. Take care and God Bless!

Hi, Grandpa Bob! Yes, I do put out old bread for the birds. The bigger birds, like blackbirds and Bluejays usually end up with some of it. Then the squirrels come out for it. Why they bury bread, though is beyond me! I expect anytime to see a bread tree growing in the back yard! lol For a while now, an oppossum has been eating it, too. She's also been eating the bird seed on the ground. I say she because she is coming out day and night...so I figure she has babies somewhere. I haven't seen her in a week or so. Maybe she has moved on. I have finally found some squirrel-proof feeders! I bought 3 of them. I do put some seed on the ground, too, though, for the ground-eating birds like the mourning doves and the squirrels. These are the first feeders I have found that the little devils can't get into!

What a lovely picture. He was obviously enjoying his feast bless. I have cats so no I don't leave anything out but my neighbour has an area of her garden designed for bidfeeding and the quirrels go there too. My cats avoid her garden as she has a large mastiff, the nearest they get is to the fence and tease her and run off again so the bidrs are safe they. It is lovely to wake up to them all chirping away in the morning. Ellie :D
