My Mother In Gave Me POT........

Okay not the bad kinda pot but a large cooking pot. They came out to celebrate mine and my hubbys birthdays and one of my presents was a pot for cooking large family meals. I think it was a hint as for christmas I got a large roasting pan lol. Now whats funny is my hubby who says he cares less about Mylot was the one who pointed out that this would make for a funny discussion title. So my question is does anyone you know whos not even a member of Mylot come up with discussions for you sometimes?

Oh, that was definitely a hint, lol. My MIL got a pressure cooker for me. Hubby is the only one who cooked with it and eventually, it broke. She knew I didn't use it, but voila, next Christmas, I got a new pressure cooker. And the following one a bigger crockpot. Also something only my hubby uses. Anyhow, I have not yet had the pleasure of somebody suggesting a topic for me.

I certainly don't have anyone who would suggest discussions on myLot. I come up with the idea myself if I am looking for an answer. My husband could care less. My daughter (15) shows a little interest. As for the hints with the gifts, every summer I hold the family pool party since I am the only family member with a swimming pool. But one year I did Easter because my husband's parents were here. I was hard pressed to come up with serving utensils. Throughout the year after that I received gift sets of large spoons and forks for self-serve meals. I have more than I need now. Funny though, I didn't do the pool party this year and no one is expecting me to. My kids are so busy with soccer. Besides, my sister is planning a family WEEKEND up at her cottage at the end of August. Now that Mom is in a retirement residence, I can see the kids having to have the family gatherings more now that Mom doesn't have the place for it (well, she does but it's not as private). I guess I better decide which gathering I'll be holding in the next year... Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, or someone's birthday. I'm not much of a hostess. I hate to cook and am not very good at it, especially for large crowds.

My in laws usually do all the holiday meals at there place so this is re way of saying they like that we do Thanksgiving so they dont have to. The other thing id they live in a mobile home so with the family getting bigger there just isnt much room at their place anymore.

Hi patgalca, you just reminded me about my daughter godfather. Every christmas he puts up light on the roof. We use to make fun of him when he would turn them on. Saying the the planes would confused the house for a landing strip. Anyway, after that everyone would give a new box of minilights so that he could add on the following year. On Christmas eve, when we opened our present he would get at least 5 boxes of lights. in them they had at least around 3 to 4 hundres lights.

No, but that's because my husband don't really get what Mylot is all about. He only uses the computer to play games and to chat with friends through msn. Other than he there are not a lot of people who know that I'm here writing discussions, so that's the reason why I have to do it all alone. Have a nice day

Same with my hubby he could care less about Mylot he likes that it pays me something even though its not much. He likes me to be home to raise our kids so the extra money is a bonus.

It's about the same here. I'm home with the kids while he goes working. He loves the idea that I'm home and that I'm trying to make some extra dollars through the internet, but further that that, he's not really interested. He will listen and answer me when I tell him something, but he can ask me the same question three days in a row 'cause he really doesn't get it. But he let's me go my way without laughing for the little I make, it's a bonus and that's the most important thing. Have a nice day

My Sons try but i generally don't listen. They are twelve and thirteen and the things they come up with is age appropriate- for twelve and thirteen year olds. Tell your husband thanks for the laugh.

Lol, that really is a funny title. I don't really have a lot of people in real life who know anything about Mylot. So, I don't get any help with titles, discussions and the like. I guess your mom really is giving you a hint, she wants you to invite her and the family over for a large meal!

Yeah I think she likes tha I love doing the big family meals as my hubby would never have been the one to do it as he is the one who cooks it lol. Ever since we got together we have been inviting them out and it seems every holiday we get something for dinners lol.

Minnie, my Son Jake is always giving me discussion ideas. He likes to read our discussions sometimes. In fact he is the inspiration of many of mine. It just goes to show how we can incorporate all of our hobbies into our lives.

Hi minnie, That is great, maybe he started to appreciate Mylot now.. Same as my husband, he will always tease me spending a lot of time here and every time we will encounter or experienced something, he will always tell me, post that in Mylot..LOL! Like when I got a lot of okra in my first garden, he was telling me, that will be a great picture in your avatar!

Funny title! My brain is baked, or is that fried. So I didn't get it at first. I saw the pot part, but thought "the" had been left out. Like I said, fuzzy brain syndrome. Too many late nights. My hubby used to give me great ideas for discussions. Not so much anymore. He's busy with his own thing and boycotting Mylot. He wants me to do something that pays more money. I'm still working on that part!

My hubby tries bless him, but his ideas are not fitting with MY type of discussions if you know what I mean. I always say to him that it is not a bad idea and that I will get around to it and then he forgets luckily LOL

No not yet...I haven't been a member that long. My husband often times wonders what I write about on here, but I haven't really told him what it is all about. Well maybe you'll get your husband involved with Mylot before too long..lol.

Very catchy title you have there . No one really comes up with many topics for me to start . I usually do them myself , but there have been ideas my friend has gave , but I dont use them . I am not one to start many topics . I did when I first joined , and now once in a blue moon I will post . I know this is random , but my aunt gave me a huge pot as a xmas gift , but what sucked was it was used

I think they are thinking of you cooking a big Christmas dinner. Well you will have plenty of time to get new recipes. But back to the discussion. No one has come up to me and said, "I heard you are a member of myLot, why not asked them," etc. but I get many ideas from what I hear or what is going on in my life, so in a roundabout way that is true. But even though I told some of my friends, I am member of myLot, no one has asked me to start a discussion on something. Maybe it is because I do not give anyone my id name who knows my real name.

Some people seem to prefer to keep Mylot private and there own thing but im pretty open and since my dads on here anyways no secrets can be kept now lol. My dad and me talk about mylot when together so my hubby hears about it all the time.

LOL--good one there, that title really captures one here. Yes that really does seem like an obvious hint that maybe your family is expecting you to have a Christmas dinner at your place. Mmmmm...can't really say I know anyone who isn't a MyLotter who suggests a discussion topic or title, but will often get "inspired" from some news story--does that count? hehe

Hi minni and happy birthday to the both of you. But, let me tell you a short story, it was for christmas, and we all decide to give a joke gift. One of my friends got a pair of underwear, about 4x's her size, this joke continue on for several years. And yet noone knew who gave them to her. I started to laugh when you mention the large pot. lol I wish someone would help me out once in a while. My husband is always asking, what I write about. I tell him that I respond to everyone's post. Than he will ask, but how do you know what to say. And I tell him, well it depends on what the discussion is about. "my husband, and you like doing that?", I told him, yes I do. but he won't give any ideas. That is why I don't post to many discussions.

My 8 year old son has tried to give me a few ideas about discussions to start before. He hates to read, but he likes to look over my shoulder and read what I am typing while I am on here. Sometimes he actually comes up with a good one.

A large cooking pot is useful to cook one dish for large family gathering. Maybe you can start looking for nice one dish recipes. I find that cooking to many dishes for a large family meals very tiring. But with one dish where you can put all the ingredients together in one big pot, is less tiring ang yet delicious. I am sure you have some responses on this topic. Share them with your husband. Tell him we can discuss any topic on earth in MyLot as long we abide by the rules. Happy cooking!
