Dreaded Errands!

I have to run a few errands today..including buying groceries, washing the car, going to the bank etc. But the one errand I hate to do is to go to the dealership and get my car worked on....first because I have to sit around and wait for it and that seems like a waste of time and second because if they say something is wrong with it I am at their mercy as I don't know a thing about cars and what is required. My car is under warranty but still I really wish I knew more of what they are talking about when I have it worked on. So that is my most dreaded errand or chore to do. What is the one errand you really don't like to do and put it off until you can't wait any longer?

Paying bills of water and electricity. Many people are already ahead of me. It will be hard and boring to wait while your number is 300. That's a long wait.

Balancing my checkbook- And I'm an accountant! I hate to do it! I don't mind buying groceries... I use coupons and it makes the process fun- I also love having all the food in the house I hate to deal with car dealerships too- I for the life of me can't figure out why a new car would have problems! It irritates me to no end!

hi jill! my most dreaded errand.. paying my internet bill. ^__^;; not because i don't have the money. its because i'm just too lazy to go out just to pay a bill. most of the times i pay in the service center located in a mall. i always hesitate to go there and pay. there'd always be too many people. and i hate using that automatic machine even though its easy to use. i also don't like going in paying centers outside malls. there'd be no airconditioner and it would always be hot and there'd be long queues. i hate waiting in a hot weather. so i usually put it off and delay my payment. ^__^;; just like recently. i paid my two months due only early this month. and i think i'm still behind my payment. ^__^;; its a good thing the internet company doesn't cut off my connection even if my payment is delayed for over a month.

I love errands. When my brother sends me out to do something it usually means that there is something for me. Once he asked me to have the tires checked and he gave me money for it with 500 pesos extra for my effort. Another time he sent me out to have the brake pads replaced, that netted me a thousand pesos for my pocket money. I love errands. Lol!

Hi Jill, I'm with you - taking a car to the shop is very high on my most "dreaded" list. However, paying bills, while not an errand, is absolutely my most dreaded task. No matter how hard I try, the after-effects of depression/stress/worry over finances is alwasy the greatest right after paying the bills. I keep thinking things have to get better soon, but they aren't and I don't know what to do about it. I'm a stay-at-home mom, homeschool and work a couple of part time jobs (VERY part-time) and trying to do more than that seems impossible. And putting my kids in public schools where I live is not an option so it's not likely to change much anytime soon...unless I happen upon a winning lotto ticket! lol

I understand the bill pay thing! And hopefully the worm will turn for you soon and something will come up to help you out! You never know! Think positive!

well, my dreaded errands will be collecting the rubbish, put them outside in the big bin and then bring it outside my complex every week to be collected... i really don't like to do that as the rubbish smells really bad and the bin is really heavy when it is full... fortunately, my hubby always willing to do it for me... take care and have a nice day...

I hate grocery shopping! Absolutely hate it! I put it off until we are out of food. Sometimes I put it off until the weekend and make my husband go with me because I hate going so much! I think if we had peapod internet grocery service or something similar, I would be using it, but we don't. :(

I really don't like the grocery store either....I walk around not knowing what to buy. I live by myself and don't always feel like cooking and don't want to fill my body with junk food so it's tough. I totally understand where you are coming from!

I have two dreaded errands: One is going to the pharmacy to pick up my medicines. I call them in ahead of time, but when I approach the pick-up counter, it irks me to see there are people waiting and/or milling around. The second is going to the Post Office to buy stamps. No matter what time I go, there is a line with people mailing packages, wanting money orders, etc. Luckily, the Phila. P. O. has a separate line for Passports, or I'd get impatient altogether.

You are soooo right! Especially the post office! Lately everytime I get there one line is clogged up with the passport thing!

I hate getting my car serviced too. They always try to "sell me a tale" about how something is going, or is ready to go on my car. I can't stand it. Plus the last time I went they changed my air filter without asking me! Then they charged me almost $20 extra for it! I also hate going to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) for any reason, the lines are always herendously long! Have a wonderful night!

Sounds like you have a very busy day today. I am in the same boat with cars. I can turn it on and drive it..lol Do you take a craft along to help pass the time? This helps me alot when I am waiting for any kind of appointment. I hate going to the grocery store so my husband does the shopping. He likes to do it so it's his chore now.

That's a very good idea! I'll have to think of something I can bring with...the last time I had to do it though some chick next to me talked on her cell the whole time so loud we all got to hear way more about her life then we wanted to know....turns out that they will come tomorrow while I am at work and pick it up and then deliver it so I didn't have to do that today too.....

I agree about car work, as think they charge me more than my husband. Its really terrible buying a vehicle also, as they don't speak to me the same as my husband. I get really mad at their treatment. The one place I dislike more than car places is the IRS. They send countless letters that all say the same thing and put me on hold for long periods of time. It doesn't matter if the question is simple, as it still takes a long time to get an answer.

It definitely is going to the grocery store. I would say going to the doctor, but I don't think that qualifies as an errand even if I do have to go at least once a month. I hate going to the grocery store. I don't mind navigating the store, it is those lines at checkout that annoy me. If they are going to have so many checkout lanes, can we please have more than half of them open?

I sure don't like going to the grocery store--that's definitely at the top of my list of errands that I don't want to do. But it seems like I'm in there every other day or so! It's such a bore. I wish I could just grow vegetable and fruits and bake my own bread so I didn't have to go. Well, I probably wouldn't want to do all that work either. Don't ya hate taking your car in to the dealer, though?! I just go along with whatever they say. Because, really, how am I gonna dispute anything they say? I don't know anything about cars either. Well, I usually take my iPod and/or PDA to watch a video or read a book that's on there. Good luck with the whole car thing.

I dont like going to the dealership because I dont want to spend the money. I dont really like getting my hair cut, becaue it costs money and also I'm not sure how it is going to look when it is finished. I go different places to get it done so I'm not really friends with the stylists or anything. I wouldnt say I dread it but I dont look forward to it. I need one now but am using the heat as an excuse not to go.

hi jillhill washing clothes is my most dreaded errand as I always have two loads and I have to share the wash house with other tenants so at times I can only do one load at a time then sometimes I have to wait for dryers to be emptied. and it seems like no matter what day or what time the thing is busy, I would love to come in find two empty washers, wash clothes and load into two empty dryers without waiting on someone else who is trying four items in each of three dryers. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
