Have you been to some amazing looking swimming pools or natural swimming spots?

I love swimming and I climbed some white terraces in Turkey to find a gorgeous Roman swimming pool with warm spa water. The air temperature was cold but the water in the pool was delightfully warming. I was in Australia with some friends and we drove up to Crystal Cascades and we went swimming in the refreshingly cool natural pools of water. We bathed under a waterfall and enjoyed swimming around. Where have you enjoyed swimming? An amazing swimming pool if so what was it like? A natural swimming spot if so what was it like?

All these places sound absolutely gorgeous. My favourite was swimming in an underwater cave in Fiji. You had to actually dive down and swim through a tunnel to get in. Then you came up at the other end into a cave where you could breathe. There was a hole high in the top which let the light in. It was amazing. I also love swimming and snorkeling in tropical reefs. There is nothing like being surrounded by colourful fish and coral with white sand below you, warm water around you, and a bright sun above.

Thanks for your excellent response. I adore snorkeling but it is not something I can do in my home country. I met some divers that were going to the North Sea and thought that they should try the Great Barrier Reef. I love to see colorful coral and can get carried away by the current when I am having an awesome snorkeling experience. You were brave to swim into a cave but were rewarded by seeing a grotto. Wow!

You have a very beautiful country, and there is lots to do instead of snorkelling! I don't know if I could swim in the North Sea though - too cold for me. Do you swim at home? I think I saw on the news that your historic pier recently burnt down. Is that your area, or do I have my wires completely crossed?

Yes, my home town's pier burned down but half of it has been reopened, the bit that joins the street. I went there yesterday and saw that many attractions have been added and I gave a small amount of money to help them rebuild the it. I used to swim in the English Channel when I was a child and feel numb in the water and freezing cold once I got out of the water. I couldn't stand the cold British waters for a swim now I am grown up. I love tropical seas where the ocean feels like bath water.

There are many beautiful waterfalls in Thailand where you can swim. I swam in one on an island, Kho Chiang, (which means Island Elephant) several years ago. Although the day was hot, the water was almost freezing, but very invigeratiog. I felt like a new person after that swim. There's a hotel in Sattihip, about 90 km east of Bangkok called The Asia Hotel. The interesting thing about this hotel is that it hes two swimming pools built into the slope, not quite steep enough to be labelled a cliff, leading dpwn to the ocean on which the hotel is built. A fresh water pool is at groung floor level. This is where most visitors swim. Further down almost to water level is a second salt water pool. Aside from the magnificent views, you have the option on fresh or salt water swimming. I love reading about other people's traveling experiences.

Yothink my overseas u douldn't find me swimming in Kakadu. Crocks, even if you can't see them don't make good swimming partners. I lone reading your experiences, and I think I'd like to visit Ectonia, however I thnk my overseas travel destinations are limited nowadays.

I love to go to tropical islands, see cliffs, splash around under a waterfall and go in charming looking pools so think that Thailand would be my kind of place. The hotel you describe has some wonderful pools. I also love reading about people's traveling experiences. In Australia I went to Darwin in the wet season and took a trip to Kakadu. There were many bugs and insects there. I went swimming in a swampy looking pool and it was blissful to get away from the bitting creatures. In other areas of water there were crocodiles.

An American lady asked me where I was going and I said Tallinn, that is capital of Estonia and she thought that I said Thailand. Oh, it so funny. She asked if I was flying there I told her I was going by bus. After a while we sorted out our misunderstanding.

There are many beautiful waterfalls in this world unfortunately they are not near where I live. I have never actually seen one close up, but I would love to swin in one. I can only imagine how refreshing it must be. Maybe one day I will get to swim in one.

I hope that you get to swim in a cool and refreshing waterfall one day. The water is so fresh and the scene so tranquil that the experience is so relaxing.

I went to Moose Pond. Lots of rock outcroppings and little fingers of land and/or rock sticking out into the pond. Usually some indentations of land near them that you can put a canoe into and go exploring. One small area is beech. We walked around and found blueberries and the flowers for the future wintergreen berries were out. There was a wonderful river when I was a kid that had terrific waterfalls. Now it's poluted with everyone's water coming from their homes straight into the river. Dishwashing liquid, clothing washing suds, all kinds of stuff, sometimes even toilet paper and worse. Humans can be so discusting!

Thanks for your excellent description of Moose Pond. I like to get in a canoe and go off exploring. One time I did this I was in a canoe wearing my swimming costume because it was so hot then a storm made the water really rough so I went around the edge of the inlet. It is a shame that the river that you knew when you were a child is now polluted.

Hi, I have never been in an amazing swimming pool like you have! But I remember when I was a child and swimming in very beautiful water falls, me and my friends loved to go and swim there at least twice a week. We normally went there early morning and brought some food with us and went back home late afternoon. It's sad now because it doesn't look like it used to. But I will always remember it the way it was.

Your childhood memory of your childhood times by the beautiful waterfall sounds lovely. It is sad that it doesn't look as pretty anymore. I went to Belize and did an unusual swim into a cave wearing a swimming costume and a helmet. I then did much climbing and saw broken pieces of Mayan pottery.

Growing up in Strathpine Australia we had a fresh water creek running through the forest behind our house. In certain spots the creek became wide and deep enough to swim in. The water was clean and we drank from it except from the areas we swam in, lol. We hung a rope with an old tire from one of the trees on the bank and swung right into the water. Most of the time the kids brought a picnic for whoever came. It was awesome. It was also the place where I got kissed for the first time. Ah, sweet memories.

A fresh water creek sounds delightful especially where it was deep enough to swim in. Swinging from the old tire on the rope into the water must have been such fun. It is lovely that you could drink from the creek too. You have some wonderful childhood memories.

Those places sound really beautiful. How amazing to have been able to see and be near those. I am afraid mine ins much less interesting. Either a pool in a backyard, or our local community center. Nothing quite so majestic!

A small pool in a garden can be a relaxing place for a swim. Some community centers just have a swimming pool. However one pool near me has a wave machine and a rapid river. Thanks for responding and have a lovely day.

Here in the Philippines, there are plenty of natural pools and hot springs. There are are also sulfur springs which are therapeutic. It is wonderful to bathe in the warm crystal waters.I've also bathed in a waterfall and it's a very refreshing experience.

Wow! I have to go to the Philippines one day to experience the waterfalls, natural pools and hot springs. I was imagining snorkeling and island hopping but now I can think of even more wonderful watery experiences. Thanks for responding and have a lovely day.
