Would you consider buying a bag that was worth more than a thousand dollars?

I was actually looking at the bags section of Ebay and I saw some really expensive bags that made my eyes go rooound, not only because they were really expensive but also because there were people who were actually bidding on them. Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermes and Prada are but some of the Über expensive bags that are out in the market. Do you really think it's worth spending so much for one bag? Well, if I were really Über rich as well, I'd probably love to have one but for practical reasons, I'd stick with cheaper bags that are versatile. Of course, if someone would ever decide to give me one, I wouldn't say no. Lol.

A purse is a purse, it holds car keys, wallet, cell phones, junk, paying more than $20. for one is useless to me, I shop at Khol's when I want a purse, they have 80% off bags and you can get a really nice one for maybe $12. It don't dance or give you the weather report, it is just a bag to carry your stuff in when you go out, now I guess if you was a rich person and had nothing else to spend your money on, it would be ok, but for most of us that isn't the case. My opinion it would be to show off. We seen a girl at the place we eat the other night had a purse on her arm, I don't even think she had anything in it, and my daughter said she paid at least $400. for it. She was swinging it around to make sure everyone saw it. I had to laugh, she didn't look like to me she needed a $400. purse the way she was dressed, how she was dressed showed she could not afford a purse like that. I learned when I lost my home to the flood and huricane of Katrina, that the price of things is not what is important, That couch we had to buy from the thrift store sit just as good as a new one. There is too many things in this world worth more than a purse that cost a grand.

I hear you... and it's sad to hear that you lost your home (I hope things are better for you now) and yes, I agree with you that things don't have to be new or expensive to serve its purpose. Thanks for sharing.

SPending that much on a purse is in the "Top 10 Stupidist Things to Spend Money On" list. Just cause you have money, doesnt mean you have to be stupid too...at least I didn't think it did. Maybe things have changed - I haven't been watching the news lately. Anyone that does spend that much money on a purse deserves to loose all the money they have - anyone making that stupid a decision, deserves to loose all they got. I have a really hard time dealing with blantant stupidity in people.

I watched a segment on one of the tv shows that we have here and it featured a person who collects signature bags. Her "everyday" bags cost more than a thousand dollars... and she reserves her really expensive bags for special events. Rarrr!

That screams nothing but "stupid, stupid, stupid!" And just shows how stupid she is! I'm sorry, but that is such a waste of money, she should be slapped into next year for wasting money like that.. I dont' care how much she has.

Is the expensive bags designed very beautiful? Maybe it is a good means of attracting customers.

Well, with the Louis Vuitton bags, they have some really nice designs (which, unfortunately-or is it fortunately? [Lol] have been copied by other people) but still... I don't think it's really worth the price.

I would never go for such costly bags. and I would suggest also not to go for it. Coz its not worth it. And if I am a celebrity or an actres and have lots of money then I might go for it. But otherwise no way.

I really don't think u should buy them. After all whats the difference between those bags and regular bags excepts they have more designs and are 1000 times more expensive.

Well my husband actually bought me a bag and purse for my 30th birthday and it was around $300, not so much as $1000, but i do admire some of the handbags that are at that price. I think mainly we want them because, yes, they are different from the regular bags in that anyone can buy a regular bag, it takes to be rich or very lucky to be able to get a bag that is made by those designers, and not everyone can get one, so you know that the bag you have is rare, it won't be on every girls arm, and some people like the admiration they get when another woman sees them wearing this really expensive bag. I think alot of people buy them on ebay because you can get a bargain, it's cheaper than buying it at the flagship store. But then again, i also like going to the flagship store because you get the retail bag as well you know? It's a kind of memory of when you purchased the bag. Even after i have my bag, i still want others and i'm always telling my husband "oh look at that one, it's so lovely!", i guess he buys them to make me happy, but not always. It depends how much the bag or purse is. :)

I know... expensive bags have really nice designs and yes, they do get an "oohhh" and an "ahhh" from me as well. teehee... but it's not something I'd buy for myself. My fiance bought a bag that I really like that was around that much as well and I cherish it a lot. Ebay is a good place to buy the only thing there is sometimes, you're not even sure if it's the real thing. Buyers have to really check the feedback of the seller to make sure of that. I would definitely not want to spend two to three thousand dollars on something that is not real. I'd probably faint if that happened. Lol. Thanks for sharing my friend.

definitely not, there is no way a bag can be worth that in raw materials and labour. it's just a bag. it can't be that much better quality to cost so much more. things like this are all about OTHER PEOPLE knowing how much you spent on them, and I find it vulgar. I don't care if other people think I've spent a lot of money on something or not. wanting other people to look at something and think, oh look they spent hundreds of pounds on a bag, aren't they great, is just shallow and stupid.

and if someone gave me one, I'd probably sell it. unless that person would be really offended. I'd say to them, I'm really not into expensive bags, would you be offended if I sold it/took it back to the shop, and spent the money on something that I would really enjoy.

I wouldn't spend that kind of money, espcially from Ebay. They have just settled a lawsuit based on the fact that people were selling designer bags that were in fact fakes. Now they have to pay restitution. Having said that, I do love designer bags, but there is a way to get them without buying fake or spending over a thousand dollars. I go directly to the outlets which sell the bags at a fraction of the cost. We have both Coach and Kate Spade where I live and I've gotten some great deals on designer bags. Also, there's Bag, Borrow and Steal, a website which allows you to rent a designer bag and then return it.

hmmm.. They really have a website where you can borrow a designer bag? That's neat. I have a couple of Coach bags that I absolutely love and aren't too much of a pain in the pocket. Well, the first one I bought. The second one was given to me. I also find some of the bags from Dooney and Bourke nice.

Hi rose, If I had the money, I don't think I buy it, I rather buy 5 bags and the matching shoes and one bag. I would go shopping and get me kinds of clothes to match my shoes. i bet this ladies are the one's who can afford to buy all the expensive stuff. they all kinds of money and don't know what to do with it.

I would never buy a bag that cost that much. You are just paying for the name on the bag which is really stupid I must say. My purse cost $65 and I thought that was outrages but it was the only one I could find that I liked.

I guess if it was up to a certain amount, I would buy it especially if it's something that I really really like... but if it would blow a hole in my pocket... I think I'll be contented to just look at it. hehe.

Expensive bags sold on eBay are also likely to be copies, counterfeits, or whatever word you like to use.

True... there are a lot of counterfeits on ebay although there are also several legit sellers of those bags. They have something on Ebay that would help people tell if what they're buying is the real thing or not

Good day... If my pocket is deep, maybe once just once for my loving partner because she deserves it. I really do hope that one day I could even just one time and make her really happy because I'm sure she's not expecting it. It's not the price per se but what that price can men to her and that it can make her smile because she'll feel once again how much I love her.

No way, i'd never buy one of those bags, nor do I have that kind of cash lying around and if I did, I sure wouldn't spend it on ONE bag when you can have tons of them to go with each outfit and plus money to spend on other cute things. Whoever buys those bags must have money coming out of thier you know WHAT... lol

Nope...no handbag is worth that much no matter whose name is on it...a handbag is a handbag....if you spent that kind of money on one then to me it would be a waste and I would rather spent that amount of money on something more important.

Hmm, No! I'm not into handbags at all, and I probably wouldn't pay much more than $10 for one, let alone $1,000! I just don't get the appeal of handbags, especially designer ones. What makes them better than a canvas one you can get from a high street shop? I really don't get it, lol! I agree with you, I'll stick with the cheaper versatile ones as well. And I think if someone decided to give me one I would just sell it! I wouldn't know what to do with it myself - wouldn't really fit with my usual attire, , and I'd find the money a lot more useful!!

I wouldn't pay a lot for a bag, but I probably would for a book! I suppose it comes down to what our priorities are. Now that I'm middle-aged, I'm actually trying to cut back on possessions a bit - I think we all have too much stuff, and in the end it makes us feel bogged down. I don't think it makes us happy, either.

I would never myself buy one. Of corse I'm not the bag type. If I could afford it then I might for a significant other. You know what ever makes you happy. If you can affod it and can then by all means do it. But seriosuly I could never buy an accesory for 1000 dollars. That is unless it was a big bag of grass. lol

rerely do we get bags of most fashion....i think that we can spend of about thousand dollars not very often but for atleast at countable times and very rarely....obviously prada, gucci are expensive kinda preferred ones...it merely depends ...if you think that it makes you feel happy on having them, you can spend else if you are satisfied with any kinda bags for cheaper costs, you can buy them instead...but do remember that the ones with much costs are always a step more in quality than the least cost ones...

I don't find that to be the case. I normally spend about £20 on a bag, and they're smart and good quality and last ages. very expensive products tend to be the same quality as normal priced products, just with inflated prices because of a name or logo on them. yes they're better quality than a £5 bag. but no more better quality than my £20 bags.

Woah! Never! I never need to carry a bag for one but $1,000 dollars! That's ridiculous. Think of the other stuff you could spend on it. Really, who has $1,000 t spend and goes "I should buy a bag" :D. Haha. If the stuff inside a bag cost less then the bag then theres a problem :D.
