Do you hand wash your clothes?

I am still hand washing my clothes, every single piece. Sometimes I feel very lazy to wash clothes by using hands, but I have no choice because I don't have a washing machine. I hate to wash heavy linen such bed sheets and blankets. I want to have a washing machine but sometimes I think is not necessary. Maybe I need to bear with it. How about you? How do you wash your clothes? Hand wash? Washing machine? Who wash clothes in your house? Maid? Parents or yourself? Please share, thanks.

I have a number of little pieces (lacy tank tops and such) that really demand handwashing. Plus, I handwash dry clean only items (skirts and such, but not heavy coats); I dislike dry cleaning chemicals and costs, and the pieces have survived numerous handwashings.

There have been things that I have washed by hand, but most of the time we do them in a Washing machine, and actually, that is the way that I prefer to do them as well. For me, it just would take too much time to do them anyway else, and considering Seattle is rainy and damp a lot of the time, it just would not be feasible as well.

I used to handwash them when I was single. Now we use a Washing Machine for most clothes. The clothes that are more delicate or new are handwashed by my maid.

In our previous town home, we had a washer and dryer, so it was very convenient. But then we moved to a different place, and we had to do laundry. But, we're moving again lol and our new place will have a washer and dryer in it. I'm really happy about that. I do hand wash my bras and panties mostly. I have a lot of clothes, but I've outgrown them since I became pregnant, and I have a lot less maternity clothes, so I have to wash more frequently.

Hi yenwie, though I usually do my daily laundry using the laundry machine, I still hand washing some clothes occasionally. There are mostly those quality and expensive clothes which are not suitable to be dumped into the washing machine as they are easily spoiled. Sometimes I put them into the laundry beg before dumping them into the machine. I’m a bit lazy so I always try not to put on such types of clothes and this actually could save me the trouble and time to hand washing them. posting and take care.

I only wash clothes by hand if it says to do so on the tag. If there were a "hand-wash" service for clothes I would use it. There are dry cleaning services available, but I have never found a "wash clothes by hand" service.

I cannot imagine having to hand wash all the clothing that is worn in my house. There are 6 of us and I would be doing laundry non stop!!! I think once you actually had a washer and used it for a while you would wonder how you went without it.

You must be really doing the hard work. Hand washing really takes a lot of time and patience. It's very hard to wash heavy linen like bed sheets. I use washing machine in washing my clothes because it's very fast, easy and convenient. I do the washing alone because we have no house maid.

I still handwash a lot of smaller bits of clothing, but its because its not economical to turn the washimg machine on for a few things,so if ive a small pile of lightweight things then I will just handwash them,if the weather is good they can drip dry,it makes for less ironing but otherwise I put them in the spin dryer.

I have hand washed my clothes for some time now and am not afraid to admit it seeing how until only a short number of years ago there was of course no other way. I do not wash my blankets by hand because I do not have space enough to hang them to dry properly without taking them to a laundromat but I prefer hand washing for most else. A washing machine is convenient certainly but I try not to make many decisions just because they are convenient. I can take stains and spots out by hand with personal effort more reliably than a washing machine and I can ensure things are washed and rinsed as thoroughly as I would like which of course means an investment of personal effort but I feel strongly that if I could not make that effort then I would need to strengthen myself as it is not such a big thing and being unable to do it would feel odd to me. It is a bit of effort, well quite an effort to get many materials good and clean but I do not mind putting personal effort over ecological waste from time to time. Also though I own almost nothing but simple clothing of plain colors without patterns pictures or words so I do not worry when I use nearly boiling water to soak the clothes in. After scrubbing them well by hand I run water to rinse and I add hydrogen peroxide to the water (a convenient alternative to bleach that is color safe) and soak it again in near boiling heat. It is at times astounding to see the amount of dirt that can come out of clothes that appear clean when they are washed thoroughly and you see the water draining. I do not rinse passivley. I scrub each item of clothing and material again by hand in the water though the volume of water is less. Then I will often rinse a last time with plain water so I can be sure the loosened dirt and oils have been fully washed out.

Washing machine? I already have one. I wash my clothing my self. Although I use the washing machine also but I prefer to hand wash the cloths occasionally because I think it gives me the extra stamina. I use the washing machine just to wash those heavy bed sheets and other heavy cloths. Yes, washing machines come very handy when you are exhausted and have no energy for hand washing of clothes.

Hi, we are rather fortunate that we have a washing machine. So that takes care of the heavy washing like tshirts, jeans, towels, bedsheets, all my hubby's clothes and so forth. I still hand wash, though. Especially my clothes that I wear to work - jackets, pants, cotton & silk blouses - anything that I do not wish to iron .

When I was in the Philippines, I am used to hand wash our clothes. It is very tiring so we decided to buy a washing machine. It helped us a lot doing the laundry with washing machine. But I still hand wash the delicate stuff.
