School case: A teacher warned her student orally for three times because of misbehavior ( very disruptive in class ). The student ignored the three oral warnings and continued to be disruptive, the reason why the teacher got angry and scolded the student in the class. The student spit on the teacher's face, and as a reaction, the teacher slapped the student's face. If you were the teacher, would/ could you do the same? The teacher, by the way, was suspended because of the case and the student dropped out.

I was shocked with this kind of a student behavior.I am sad that the teacher was suspended. If i'am the parent of this kind of student,i will not tolerate this kind of behavior.I studied in a public school and also an teacher's enemy number one for making noise in the class but i respect them if i do mistakes in classes. This kind of behavior is a cruel one.The authority of the school should way the case the teacher have done it to the student.Teachers deserves respect, coz they are the one who helps the parents to be a better person.

The teacher was suspended?! Great! That will encourage more misbehavior from students who thinks that being a badass is cool. Too bad he dropped out before he was given a sanction. Acts like that against a teacher should be dealt with seriously.

I would have just sent her to the principal's office and I would have let he or she handle it. If a student is going to be like that, then he or she should not be going to school.

I don't care what they do, you can never ever slap a student. I was a teacher in college for 4 semesters. I had some pretty disruptive students at times. The worst I would ever do is make them leave the classroom in front of everybody. I would never hit them this is unprofessional. Do you know if the student dropped out because the teacher hit her? Or was she going to drop out anyway? If she dropped out because of this, I am doubly sad.

WOW! i think it would really be hard for anyone to remain calm after someone spits in there face, and its kind of difficult to figure out what would be the right thing to do in a situation like that, sometimes you dont know what you would do until your in that persons shoes, but oh my.

That student is wrong, if I were a teacher I would normally because teachers are human also. There are rights for the teacher is not easy also, stress are common factors, and your students are also bully. Many college teachers are lucky because their students are mature enough and they are not kids. Handling of high school is very horrifying sometimes.

This student shows a heavy case of disrespect, even though I can't say scolding or slapping a student is right I can see why teachers get upset and don't know what to do about this students anymore. Sometimes they can't even send them out of the classroom because they merely won't go and you will have to make them leave by force. These kids shouldn't be allowed to visit a regular school, they should be thought some respect in a school that allows teachers to physically handle students if needed. I don't mean slapping them or otherwise hurt them, but remove them from a classroom by picking them up if needed too. These students have gone wild and will not listen to someone pleading to please behave. I understand why the teacher slapped the student and I think suspending is wrong. This only proofs that students can get a teacher suspended getting on their nerves for long enough to make them do such a thing. Unfortunatly, for some students it's a challenge getting the teachers freaked out and suspended or removed.

To be frank i would have surely gave the student a nice blow and would have took her to the principal to take further action on that student by warning her to her parents.. i really dont understand in our place teachers are treated as guru.. but nowadays we dont give much respect but still i have never heard such situations happened in our country

Why teacher was suspended, it was fault of that student.. i think the student dropped out because of his own behavior. the teacher was right..as three oral warings were given.. to teach few children there are few diffrent ways. i think teacher was not at all wrong.. thanks and enjoy :)

Ah.. A Slap.. So cheap.. I would have broken my foot in the student's butt. Students are supposed to respect teachers because they are the ones who make them ready for the future. If the students think that they are better off without them, then why attend school and waste both their times. I wouldn't care about being suspended. People would say that keeping calm and letting the authorities do the job would be the best option, but hey that would set an example for other students that they can take chances with you. The next day someone else might do something that would surely hurt you, but an offense {from their point of view} not so strong that they should give a punishment. What would you do then? People always ask this question that why should we respect the teachers. You can notice a very common trait among these people. They are either snobs. Or either the ones who didn't understand the concept of student teacher relationship. And most of them are not really successful in their life. That's because they failed to respect a person who was trying to make their future better for them. Indian Slokas have a small verse which compares teachers to Gods. I do not think that respect should be given just because they are teachers. If you like your teacher then respect them because they are caring for you too. I you hate your teacher, respect them because they are in a position higher than you are. bourne

I totally agree with you bourne. Each of us should respect to learn, and should learn to respect. Even if you are the richest or the highest ranked person in this world, you still need to respect others as others respect you. Thank you for your response and good day!

Honestly, I think if I were the teacher and the worst to happen was a slap in the face because the student spit in her face, then she should have be given a award for keeping her cool. Me personally, I probally would have been so enraged out of control. For me that would absolutely be the worst that someone could do to me was to spit in my face. That is just disgusting! Obviously this is a very disruptive child, and I would venture to say this was just another day of trouble for this kid.

I could have done that, too, because spitting on the face is really off for me. Sometimes, we could not really control our temper. Too bad that it happened inside the classroom. Thanks for responding. Good evening.

As a mother it was wrong for the teacher to slapped her student's face. She could have reported it to the principal or guidance councilor or call the parents to talk their child's behaviour.Although it was very disrespectful for the student to do that to the teacher but she has no right to hurt the student.

Both of them are wrong. As a person, she could slap anyone who spit on her, but as a teacher, her behavior, especially in front of the students, bring a negative impact. It is pity that she was suspended. The student puts me to shame, I hope he can realize his mistake and correct it, otherwise I can't image what his future will be.

It's just so bad it happened inside a classroom where it is really not allowed to hurt a student even for a bit. Yes, I agree both of them have done wrong. I appreciate your response. Good evening.

I'd choke the kid. Seriously. I have short patience. I think the teacher is right to orally warn the student. I think what the kid did was unethical. His parents should have counselling on raising a child and the kid should have counselling too. On the part of the teacher, I think she was just shocked at what the kid did that is why she slapped him. I would do too if I am the teacher. But I think I would choke him more until someone stop me. I just cant stand kids like that. I love kids but rude ones? I just hate them.

That was the initial reaction of the teacher. She was not able to control it. Maybe, the student had problems at home that's why she was able to do the spitting. But still, it was so wrong to do that.

I think the teacher was just reacting to the sudden slap...the teacher should have shown more restraint, but after all is only human and there is only so much that a person cna do or take before they "snap". At least they suspend and didn't fired the teacher.

The teacher understandably lost her temper. With so many students that teachers have to deal with I really don't think the teacher should have been suspended. I do agree the student should have been punished however like you said the student dropped out and its a good thing for the other students trying to learn.

hi djoyce while the teacher should not have struck the child yet I think I would have slapped the brat myself as spitting in your face is the greatest insult one' could give to a teacher or anybody else for that matter. But of course the teacher should have kept her cool for awhile longer, as slapping is also an insult close to the spitting insult. hope she gets her job back as she did not deserve suspension I dont think.

I would certainly have wanted to smack the student, but I would not have. Spitting in someone's face is one of the most disgusting and disrespectful acts that one human being could perpetrate against another. Heck I think you should be allowed to smack someone if they do that to you, I think there should be no punishment for that after all spitting on someone is an asault against you and you have the right to defend yourself if asaulted. But we do have rules and laws and smacking someone is something that is going to get you in to trouble, so those with any common sense would not smack another person.

Oh my, is this in high school, college, or even grade school? I guess the student deserved that suspension...but I also think the school should have not suspended the student but instead, give heavy punishment and in turn do some corrective measures. That's also the school's function but that institution easily gave up on the student. As for the teacher, I would definitely be insulted if I was her. I don't know what I'll do though if I was in that situation. Sad to say, I may have done the same. A child that unruly is more than insulting to a teacher.

No I wouldn't do a thing like that. I won't lay a finger on the student (so he can't charge me with anything) but I'll see to it that the full brunt of the law will be given to him. I will exhaust all means, be it academically and legally and demand for a public apology or I'll continue with mu case...or perhaps to give her/him a lesson I'll pursue legal proceedings.
