Put That Kid to Work!

Yesterday a friend and I laughed out loud when we saw a pair of those socks with mop thingees on the soles. This takes it a step further: http://s2.thisnext.com/media/230x230_no_border/Baby-Mop_AD8EA055.jpg It is an article of clothing that turns crawling infants into robotic dust mops, sort of. Well, just look at the expression on that adorable child's face! I can hear the dialog now, "I'm tired mommy, can I go to sweep?" and mom says, "Sure honey, there is another floor in the next room." The little cherub is like, "HUHHH!?"But seriously, has anyone here ever tried one of those autonomous self-powered floor sweepers. I've seen them in the stores, but somehow I'm just not ready for that sort of thing. Are you? Any funny stories? Have you ever been tempted to put your kid (or somebody else's in a mop suit?) Do you think some people might not find this amusing? PS: A special thanks to the myLot member who sent me the link.

Though I do encourage my kids (yes, even the 21 month old) to clean up after themselves, I don't think I'd get them a 'mop suit'...lol. It certainly would be funny to me to find a child in a mop suit. It would be entertaining for a while...but if anyone seriously wants to get cleaning done by a child in a mopsuit, I'd wonder what kind of parents they were and would certainly not think it's amusing.

I would also wonder what kind of cleaning they expected to get done, but nevertheless the picture brings a smile to one's fact. I don't think anyone is supposed to take it too seriously, although one friend here said she does put socks on and do some dustisng with her feet. I have never tried that.

Anytime I can lift the workday stress a bit off the shoulders of a person who has not yet attained the blessed age of retirement (Hah! And you have quite a ways to go!), well I am only too glad to do so

Hehehehe no I never thought about putting my kids to work that way. I think that even as a baby, my daughter wouldn't have fallen for it LOL I"m not even saying that it isn't a good idea, it's just something that never crossed my mind and one that I am not sure I would use even if my kids were yougner:)

I had a good laugh too when I saw the photograph. Either manufacturers have found an innovative method of getting a home cleaned, or they are suggesting a new way of exploiting child labor without breaking the law. I doubt though that this new "innovation" will take off in a big way. I also doubt its effectiveness in getting the odd corners cleaned such as behind the cupboards, under the beds, etc. Imagine getting the kid to crawl into such nooks and corners...LOL.

Thanks drannhh for voting my post as the BR. I still find the photograph amusing. 12 months later, I still don't find this innovation idea selling anywhere in the stores and supermarkets. Looks like the idea didn't take off at all!

Have a good sleep and do awaken rested, but to tell you the truth you are porobablky making more sense than to put a kid in such a costume. However it IS very cute, I think, although I wonder what that youngster will say about it 12 or 14 years from now Dad! Mom! How COULD you???

hey thats really funny! actually one of my Nephews is just 2 years old and she wants to do all the household work just like her mother. she takes the broom and run around the house to clean ,she takes a piece of cloth and wipes all furnitures in home. you wont belive this, she wants to cook now itself! so its always fun to live with Kids.... Enjoy Parenting....

Now if your niece will just do this when she is 16, too, then all will be well in the universe. Surely if she continues like this she will grow up to be a famous chef :-)

Excellent and then when you have your first little one cleaning up the floor you can have your hubby take a picture of you with your feet up reading a magazine and a cool iced tea in your hand and then when you post that photo we will all have another wonderful laugh!

That photo put a big smile on my face... this is the first time i have heard or seen such a thing... and i think my husband will go berserk if i would ever put it on my daughter... she would look like a catterpillar with hundreds of small legs... but the baby on the photo looks very cute... I think the world is not yet ready for that sort of fashion for kids... some might stage a protest of putting babies to work... or the fashion police might even put the parents behind bars...

lol! Well, why not? I mean, they're down there anyway, and it's not like they're doing anything they weren't already doing. lol! It'd be extra padding on the knees for them, too, on those hard floors.

Yes, padding on the knees! So comfy that as another member commented above, the little tyke may be ready to drop off for a nap right there in his mop suit.

My son would love it if I put little mops on his feet and put him to work. He would be running all over the kitchen with those things on. Heck, I think it would be kind of fun to have a pair of mop socks myself.

I have heard they have those, but haven't bought or I guess even seen one in the stores, but then I dont' shop those isles much. But what I do do is save old socks - and just put them on and "swipe" under the cabinets at the floor to get into the actual corner where the mouldings meet. I have a swiffer and my little 2 you grand daughter loves to sweep - so I just let her have at it - sevearl times a day she'll decide she needs to sweep so I just let her. I am seriously considering buying one and cutting off hte handle to her size so I dont' have to worry about her hitting anythign above counter!

I remember having my own little broom when I was a toddler. Don't remember too many things back that far, but the sand pail with the little shovel and the miniature broom were treasures a long time ago.

Its really funny and i believe it may not used by most of the parents for making their kid to work. But may be for the purpose of cleaning the places of where the kid goes orelse it may be used by the parents to clean.

I had nerver heard of them,,,what a great idea! Not that I would put my kid to work or anything but i clearly remember when my son was 10 months old and was a crawling monster! He would crawl so fast and anywhere. We were in a fancy department store and i just let him crawl around on the floor there and suddenly the cleaning woman passed by and laughed so hard when she saw his clothes all dirty from the floor and said, well he just saved me an hours worth of mopping , he did it all by himself!

What a cute thing to say. That must have been both funny and a bit embarrassing!
