Have your kids already gone back to school? In the U.S, it seems we go back the latest. Most other states go back in August, but here in NY, our kids go back tomorrow. I'm very excited for them. The summer has gone by rather quickly though, have you noticed that? So what's new with school this year? My twins are going into 1st grade, and for the first time they will be split up. They were in the same class for kindergarten. I'm wondering how they will react to being in seperate classrooms all day. I'm hoping it will make them get along a little better once they get home. My oldest is going into middle school this year. He has to be there an hour earlier now, school starts for him at 7:30. I'm not a morning person, but hopefully I'll be able to nap once they're all off to school. He's now taking a bus as well, which is really odd because the middle school is actually connected to the elementary school which he walked to last year. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that in a month or so it's still going to be dark at 7:30am so they don't want the kids walking now.

Well this is my 3rd straight week of "the first day of school". Two weeks ago we moved my 2nd daughter into her dorm and she started her freshman year in college. Last week Monday my oldest started her senior year in college and my 3rd daughter started kindergarten. Tomorrow my little guy starts preschool. My college kids are already adjusted and my freshman actually came home Sunday to visit and spend the night at home. She left with clean clothes and a bunch of food. My kindergartener seems to be doing well. We are still trying to figure out the bus schedule. It has been running really late but they should get it figured out soon. She told me today that kindergarten rocks! My little guy is all excited about going to school. After seeing and hearing all about school from his older sisters he is ready to head off to preschool. He keeps telling me he is in the 3's (3 yr old class)!

My toddler will be going to preschool next year at this time most likely. I am looking forward to that.

Good Grief your kids start school early! What time do they finish if they start that early? My children went back to school today, I was really sad to see them go, but they were really happy about it and they both seemed to have had a good time when I picked them up. My daughter missed her brothers a bit but not too much, she had me running around after her all day!

The middle school starts at 7:30 and lets out at about 2pm or 2:45. The elementary school bus will pick my twins up at 8:30 and they'll get home around 3:30 or 4pm. I really won't miss my kids much while they're at school, I enjoy the peace and quiet during the day. And the little ones definitly won't mind it, the older ones do nothing but make them whine all day, lol.

Well howdy neighbor. What part of NY are you from? I am also thrilled summer is over, as my kids have been extremely whiney since school let out, and acting up a bit more than usual these past couple weeks. I still have 2 little ones at home with me during the day, but 2 is so much better than 5, lol.

our school started back aug 25th. my daughter had kindergarten orrientation that day and then the 26th was actually her first full day. it was so weird putting her on a bus. she did pre-k last year but i had to drive her and pick her up. i was so nervous for her because she is shy and very sensitive. but she seems to be doing pretty good with one week in so far. so now i just have the younger 2 at home, and though you'd think things would be quieter, they aren't! they are certainly making up for their sister being gone. well, only 3 more years till they all are in school!

My little ones are so different when the older kids are in school. They're quiet and calm, because nobody is teasing and tormenting them, lol.

Most kids here used to go back to school the day after Labor Day which would have been today. But now, they are getting closer and closer to the first of August. Our grandkids started school on August 8th. To me, it is entirely too hot to put the kids back to school then. They start football games immediately and it's entirely too hot. They kids have had to be put through strenuous practice all summer in order to be ready to play so early. It's just too hard on their bodies, I think. Also, it has really shortened their summer vacation. I believe they are trying to get to the 12 month school year, which I am definitely not in favor of.

Our school district starts football sign ups and practice long before the school year starts, but the actual season starts when the kids go back to school. I agree it is too hot for the kids to be in school, but we've gone back just after Labor Day since I was a kid, it hasn't changed yet. When do yours let out for the summer? We let out at the end of June.

We've only had 2 months of summer for as long as I can remember. But they get a few breaks during the year as well.

Yes, most of the schools around my area in South of the UK are back to school tomorrow, I can't believe the Summer holiday has gone so quickly, trouble is here we haven't had much of a summer, mostly wet and it's been very disappointing. I enjoy the kids being off because the time I travel home I don't miss the traffic as it coincides with the kids being let out of school. The nights are drawing in quickly, it doesn't seem long ago we were changing the clocks and getting ready for lighter evenings! Now we have the thought of being bombarded by adverts etc for Christmas! Is it any wonder time flies by? I used to love it when I worked in the school seeing the new intake coming in and getting to know the kids from scratch.

The kids here in NC started August 25th. When I take my kids to the bus stop it is dark at 6:35 am but when the bus comes it starts to get lighter so it's not so bad.

My son started 3rd grade way back on the 14th of August. It seemed pretty early to me, but I guess most schools are moving it up. He will get out in the middle of May.

The kids here went back to school on the 20th of August. And then I went back to college on the 25th of August. It's weird how they plan all the dates and times. I wonder why they can't just make them all the same, or at least all the same dates on a statewide level!

Well hello there. I am in england and my three children go back to school tomorrow. My fourth child is out at work. Other schools in our small town went back today, but our school decided to have monday and tuesday as teacher training days!!! I have twins as well. A boy and girl of 8. Since they started school they have always been in different classes, something the school prefers, but I would have asked for them to be in different classes, they are together a lot and share a bedroom, my twin boy cannot share a room with his 10 yr old brother as they fight too much. When at nursery they went some sessions together but not all of them, my choice again. Apart from making the pack lunches in the morning we have everything ready for school. We have had a very good holiday, and i shall miss the children tomorrow. I work from home so at least I will be able to do a full days work, the day will soon pass

Monday was a holiday here, and typically the children go back 2 days after the holiday. My twins also still share a bedroom. They're 5 and the oldest is 11, I think that's too big of an age gap to share a room, and they do fight as well. I asked for them to be in the same class in kindergarten just because of the fact that it was a big transition and my daughter was very nervous about it. Now they are both excited about school because they know what to expect.

I guess you should be a morning person now. But as you have said, you can always sleep after your kids had gone. I like the idea that their school is offering the bus because it would be dark. It is a very thoughtful act. Good luck on your kids' schooling!

Woohoo! It is always exciting for me to know it is back to school again. When I was a student, I always think of the things needed to buy for school. But thinking about the tuition fees sucks :)
