just got through reading a discussion from a mylot friend, and it triggered this thought. Is it wrong for us mylotters to have a sense of humor, to laugh at ourselves, to be a bit sarcastic in'our discussions? to me this poster is priceless and a lot of mylot friends do agree with me.Should discussions that make us laugh and cheer up up out of the daily grind be Banned? I say no not at all. let the few who have no sense of humor try to understand these discussions. Your thoughts on this please.

I have a dry sense of humor and I use it on a daily basis.. I answer any post in my own thoughts and I try never to take myself very seriously.. I feel as if you can't at least laugh at yourself, then you are in very bad shape.. I for one, enjoy a good laugh, so keep up the good work all of you funny Mylotters..

Without silly, sarcastic, biting, incisive and plain dumb posts, why would we bother to be here on the Lot? We're not becoming millionaires!

Nah, I don't think they should be banned. Sometimes we all need a good laugh. Times are stressful with Gas prices going up and so many people foreclosing on their homes we need a mental break.

Well, it depends on what type of topic is. If for counselling or support, I will give my full sense of sincere sympathy and kind advice. If for sharing a laugh, I will definitely show my sense of humour. Still, I have to be careful with the wording or phrase as mylot is a big community that mylotters are from all over the world.

hi madona1 it was strictly a topic of humor not meant to do anything other than to make us laugh and joke and kid around a little. we were not talking about counseling or any serious subject.dont you know what humor is? lighten up there'will be manydiscussions of the serious nature as always. I am just talking of someone not appreciating having a sense of humor and having a discussion about that. this is one year later and w e need humor even more.

Instead of banning such discussions, we may start a system poll and terminate the discussions fall below minimum votes.

hi trv 231 no no no,.no system p olls that is just what we do not need all those who are sourpusses can just jolly well bypass any'discussions that they do not like do not penalize those of us who do have a sense of humor because we all enjoy a laugh or a smile e except for a few fuddy duddys.let them answer only to the serious discussions. they are not banning anything. I just mentioned a yr ago that one mylotter had no sense of humor at all. he did not get his wish as my lot realized he was just a person who hAd no sense of humor what soever.

I think that it is great that we all can discuss topics and feel free to add humor, sarcasm, and laughter. It is very nice place to express oneself and uplift others in need of advice, encouragement, or to gain a smile on the face. No discussions that bring a glow , cheer, or laugh to our spirit should not be banned. I look forward to reading these discussions every single day. It is like reading a book to ride the wave of an imagination, however the illusion is real.

One of the main reasons I keep coming back to myLot is that there are so many different types of discussions enough to match any mood I may be in. I really enjoy people with a sense of humor. Sometimes I get a kick out of posting a ridiculous/facetious discussion and get some responses that the poster could not ready between the lines and realise I was only joking!

I replied I think the cure is worse than the song I keep hearing. He didnt get into the mood of it at all.

humour is good. I know the poster that you are referring to and I agree with you. His humour & sarcasm are wonderful. He gets his point across and manages to put a smile on most faces in the process. My guess is that some don't read the discussions all the way thru.

I think that some people don't always get the humor, so it's a good idea, at the end of the post, to somehow make it clear that they are being humorous. Life without humor is not worth living!!

You know what amazes me is lately, and this is everywhere not just here, is how unfunny and basically unhappy people are. Sense of humor seems to be missing, common sense is also out the window. Life is so very short and in a flash it can be all over. So I say have as much fun as possible in life. People who attack other posters shpu;d be banned, not the ones who are just enjoying themsselves and adding a little life to this place. Besides with all the nasty political debates going on, it seems we need to lighten up.

Hi Hatley, I think that it's wonderful that we can have fun and laugh and kid around. Those are my favorite kinds of discussions. I know the mylotter who you are referring to! I can't understand why the few mylotters who can't seem to find their own sense of humor and don't recognize when someone is just being sacastic in a joking sort of way have to try to spoil it for the rest of us! If you don't want to have fun, then stay out of those discussions!

24 Sep 08
No not at all!!! these discussions are the highlight of my time on mylot!!! we dont spend all our day being miserable or too serious about things so why shoud we be like this in our discussions!!! even if a discussion is something we have a serious opinion about you should still look at it with an open mind and take it in the context it is written....we dont all have the same humour but if you read them properly you more or less get that the poster is having a laugh....and a bit of friendly banter is all in good fun!!!! hugs Jessica

hi jessica and angelia one yr later. we need to haved a mix and add some fun and humor in our mylot lives.without humor mylot would be very boring and dry and sort of dusty and who wants that at all. We all can use all the humor we can get and what is better than to get it here and share it with our mylot friends. we can be serious at other times but why hot have a time when we can take off our shoes and just laugh.

humor in a discussion is good here and i agree with you on that...although due to some language barriers some may not be able to really got it or digest the humor injected in a particular discussion..some may not understand or maybe offended on doing so ..just like on sarcasm but i guess being sarcastic sometimes in a discussion will make the reader not to really comprehend it due to some reasons i had stated above...in my opinion i guess humor is good to a certain limit....its everyone's discretion on what kind of humor be in a particular discussion thinking that it will be read globally and atleast understanding ones countries culture and tradition..and besides in doing we must also remember the guidelines and rules this site is imposed or whatever to us ...

Humor is essential. My own humor is usually on the sarcastic side, very acidic. I don't think someone should be banned for saracasm. Although once I was fired from a job because I laughed too loud. Laughter is good for you. It's healing. Did you know that even if you have to force a smile, smiling produces endorphins (the feel good chemical in the brain)? A good belly laugh stimulates the entire body. I love to laugh.

I have an odd sense of humor, so when I actually have human interaction, there is a lot of confusion as to whether or not I'm being serious. As for web postings, usually the sense of humor is taken correctly. I have then tendency in real life to act like I'm serious even if I am joking. People take it all wrong and this usually leads to misunderstandings...and fighting. When people read something, it all depends on how they read it...it could be take seriously by one person and as a joke by another. Oh, and by the way...it is NEVER wrong to have a sense of humor.
