I prefer reading short paragraphs (with simple language) which are straight to the point. I hate reading long posts with take several paragraphs to read. Do you skip long posts?

Actually I prefer the longer posts. They usually give more information and I am able to gain a better sense of where the discussion is supposed to be going. I don't mind having to take the time to read them.

I write long posts with short paragraphs! In myLot emails, posts are all squashed into one long piece of writing, but on the site they look better with spaces around the paragraphs. I'm not going to write shorter posts. I will continue writing long ones. I don't feel it's worthwhile responding to discussions that only require a short answer. Of course I will read a long post if it interests me. I like to know people's opinions and read about their life experiences. It's why I enjoy participating at myLot. I wouldn't spend time reading and responding if I didn't.

No, I don't skip long posts. Long posts tend to let you know what the poster mind set is, what they asking for for and does answer alot of questions. So there is less confussion. I answer what catches mt eyes. Of course I have some frioends that I respond no matter what they post.

I have to agree with you. I think it helps getting to know the person better. Plus, it brings the coversation down to a more personal level.

Same with me also. I also like short sentences and short paragraph. However, I don't skip any post at Mylot, whether it is short or long.

It depends on what the topic is personally. I see some where people are just rambling on about how their cat got loose and they had to chase it through the bean patch or whatever and I really don't care to read those. If it is an interesting story or news article I will try to read it. If it is something of interest I don't mind spending the time to at least get to the point.

Skipping long posts is akin to skipping more than 60% of posts/quality content in myLot. Think about that before skipping another "long post" next time. It may be time-saving or less of a headache for you, but I assure you, IMHO(In My Honest Opinion) getting more knowledge/info from all posts is definitely much better than choosing what to read. It allows you to see from more Points of View(PoVs) and as I mentioned, allows you to learn more. Long posts may not mean it's not "straight to the point". Do know that there will always be things that cannot be expressed "in a few words". Sometimes summarising things will totally change the whole context of said summary. I am not forcing you to change your mindset about "long posts" or anything, just thought you might want another PoV. As a rule of thumb, because I type long posts, known colloquially as "Walls of Text", I also read them.

You have expressed it not only in a few good words but it does to us read easy to understand, to write a story is not reserved for me.. thank you and best regards,

Yes, usually I will skip long posts. First, some long posts are copied and pasted article only. It means nothing to me. Second, some long posts are very complicated and I feel a headache to read it. I prefer to clear and short discussions much more. I love China

well ronaldinu it depends upon my interest and topic. if i like heading and i find interest in postings then i read whole words else try to summarize just by reading a fwe lines of that post. sometimes evev i leave small posts because thats not belong to my interest like movie name(which i have not seen), situation of any country like that......... i find interest and keep most of the posting in internet, love, computer and life issues. what about yours?

I try to read all posts in discussions i start...and as many as i can on pages i load. If they get too long i tend to skim them picking out the finer points.

I try to read both long and short posts although I do admit skipping out on longer posts at times. I guess it depends on my mood, but as I do write long posts myself I try to be fair and read long responses / comments. Oh of course with reading others discussions that are long.

Everyone has different reading habbits , i think . So i don't mind short or long paragraths if i feel it is very interesting . I think you should change your reading habbits because whatever shor or long , we have to read it carefully , and try to grasp the writer's ideas . And know the writer's thinking . So it is important to know the sense that the writer is telling you after you read .

I only read long posts if I think it will be really good. Other than that I like shorter posts also. And, I don't usually respond very long either. I just say what I got to say and try not to babble.

Not necessarily. It also depends on the discussion's title. If the title is interesting, I start reading the discussion. If it doesn't have to do with the title within the first paragraph, I quit reading the post...

i am just the opposite, ronaldinu. If the subject matter is interesting I think it's worthwhile to take the time to read a lengthy post. Sometimes things just can't be said in a few sentences so the poster has to go into some detail in order to make their point. You might be missing out on some really interesting topics by limiting youself only to the short posts.

Hi ronald it depends on the subject really with me, I normally always read them especially from my friends but sometimes I do miss them out. I do agree with you though the shorter ones are good and more easy to respond to. My last discussion is abit long-winded but am so annoyed about how the shop I had to take my laptop back to couldn't fix it..it just seemed like it would be good to share it with my friends...littleowl

I sometimes do that as well, skipping some parts of the post, especially when I get the idea and gist of his/her discussion. But I think it depends on what she/he writes, if it is really interesting to read despite it was too long, I'll read it, but if it is not I'll probably skip it and just post my response.

i hate to say it but i do 90% of the time.. which i feel bad for since i have rambled and made long posts myself but when it is sent to me in an email its hard for me to read.. even if the poster does paragraphs and try to make it easy its still all pushed together so anything with like lists are hard to read.. i dont have time to go back to that persons site and search through all of their discussions to find it later since i never have enough time as is..

depend on topic and how the mylotter explain their points.but if all mylotters keep skipping long posts, there's no point of having discussion over here.because some people put an effort to post,do some research, some preparation in order to give beneficial and quality discussions.maybe that's why it's kinda long.
