What an irony.

It seems funny to me that in the past few years so many are trying to take religion or "God" out of our society. They are trying to ban nativity scenes in public buildings...take "In God we Trust" off our money... ban prayer in schools, but they have no problem walking into a church to vote for a new president or other public officials....just seems strange that in our town most of us vote in churches where "God" is the most prominent figure and those same people stand in line to vote! Guess God is still around! Just sharing my thoughts!

Hi Jill, We have similar in the UK, festive lights instead of Christmas ones, PC brigade gone mad, but God works in mysterious ways eh! LOL and if the only way people will go to church make them the polling stations for a while. I prayer at home but do attend my local church for family services and in fact my sons school does encourage the children (with parental consent of course to attend church for the Harvest Festivals etc which is why I chose this school but the original assemblies with prayer are not allowed any more either which is a shame as it gave good moral teachings from an early age. My son made the teachers laugh when he got to the church cos he said before I do anything else I must say hello to God from mummy as she is at work today and can't come LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

I have no problem with Nativity scenes just as long as when it is Hanukkah time , you display a huge Menorah. And when there is a Islamic holiday, there is a display too. There is no way G-d can be taken out of the hearts of believers. The problem is that not All Americans believe in the same G-d. And just because you are not a Christian , you are not a second class citizen.Freedom of religion is the Only reason I would die for this country .Any other country I Would be a second class citizen or even killed because I don't follow the established religion.

Whew! Was I too harsh? If so, I apologize. I just get passionate when it comes to religion.

You are right.....and I do think that all religions should be acknowledged when they celebrate their holidays!

Since we are a free country, I really believe any and all religions should be able to express their ideas and beliefs about any holiday. In our big city, many also vote in churches. It's not the typical religious experience to walk into a church to vote for the President. I was raised one religion and converted to another just before getting married almost 40 years ago. I have no problem with any religion or belief. Everyone needs to experience and believe exactly as they want to whether others agree or not. We celebrate the holiday season of Christmas since our kids celebrate the holidays with their spouses. Not a problem and I am just happy to be able to celebrate with them. Glad I'm still here to celebrate. Life is good.

LOL, very true. I voted in a local high school, but the church I attend was used as a poll place. A lot of churches around here where. I think it is kind of funny that I bet a lot of people are like, I'll never set foot in church again! And then they have to so they can vote! Kind of an irony.

I know what you mean. I think that it is the central problem with out society. We probably need to put God back into our society, in order to inprove our ethics and morals.

I have never seen anyone forced to believe in G*d. But when you have a stucture to build charater on....you can build morals and ethics....we are seriously lacking in those lately! That is something that should be taught if it's not instintive...or we're in for bigger trouble then we can imagine....

Speaking of this.... On Halloween a kid dressed as Jesus and was kicked out of school, but yet if a kid goes as the devil its ok???? I dont understand it either. I think people go too far with religion. I mean if you dont believe thats fine, but dont make it so others arent allowed to worship or believe too. America is known for its "freedom" but everyday we somehow seem to forget this. it's sad really.

I agree with you. It sems that putting up a navity scene is our right. I am very sad that they are trying to take this right away. I do see your points here and thank you for saying what needed to be said.

This is the biggest mistake your country is making. We depend on God for more than we could ever think. Part of the reason that things are not well, a big part, is this business of denying God. Look at how good life was in America in the days when people served God. Look at the country now. God is essential.

We also voted in a Church. The same people that wants God erased has no problem using his House (and his name)when it comes in handy. That is just another example of how people will say and do anything to get others to do what they want them to do.

That hasn't been going on here, actually. They are going to the high school to do that. I don't think they should be having the people in the churches like that, it doesn't sound right to me. Whatever happened to the separation of church and state? That's what we seem to be trying to get more of, at least on the liberal side!

Here there is no other place that has enough room for the voters...I think it they didn't want to go vote in a church they might makes special plans for those people...

That my friend is the main problem in society. Taking God out of day to day lives. Stripping the words "In God we Trust" from money, and trying to take religion which is a representative of basic decency out of society (the public eye in general) is what is causing society to break down if you think about it... God isnt pertaining to which religion when you say the word rather means the creator, a greater power. And denying that basic thing there is what is messing up everything else as a chain reaction... corruption, scandals and so on.
