Farmers may now be charged a fee for owning livestock that passes gas!
A recent Supreme Court decision allows the EPA to use the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gases. The New York Farm Bureau says for each gas producing animal, you would you'd need a permit and the new regulations would mean $175 for each dairy cow.
In the new rules, other livestock, like pigs or beef cows, would cost less. Right now, nothing has been put into law and even the EPA is lukewarm on the idea.

I mean really, a fine for an animal passing gas? This is a ridiculous idea! It would put a lot of small farms out of business, and of course in the end our prices would sky rocket, as if they aren't bad enough as they are.

This is a joke right?? No way can I even believe that there are extremest who think that animal gas is bad for the earth. What kind of world do they think that we are living in anyway... I thought that type of gas would be 100% safe, it's ALL natural for crying out load!

Sadly it is no joke, but the article does say that the EPA doesn't seem too serious about putting the law into effect.
