Inauguration Day

With a little more than a week before Bush hands over the torch to Obama, what are your plans for that day? Will you be at home watching it on the TV or maybe listening to it on the radio? If you'll be at work, do you think that your boss will turn on a television somewhere if there is one, or let you listen to it on a radio, or maybe watch it on the internet? I plan on watching it on tv while I'm on the phone with a friend of mine. The night that he won, we were on the phone watching together as he was giving his acceptance speech. I'm not answering my call waiting if it goes off. I want to watch history as it happens. DCMerkle

It's hard to say what I'll be doing that day. My husband is in the midst of transforming a vacant building into his chopper shop so I'm back and forth, helping with some of the light work. With the grand opening scheduled for the beginning of February, we might be busy that day. I'd like to be able to watch it though.

spalladino, See if you can record it somehow or get a friend to record it. You'll get to see it on the nightly news, but having a copy of it would be worth it. DCMerkle

That's a good idea, DC. I don't normally record programs while I'm not at home but I'm set up to be able to do it through my satellite service. Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm Canadian, but I'll still be watching it on tv. As you said, it's History, and how often do we really get to be a part of it when it happens.

sparkofinsanity, There have been things that have been of a historical nature that we may not have wanted to be a part of, but this inauguration is something that the whole family should gather around to watch whether you voted for Obama or not. I know that you won't be in the only person in another country that will be watching this. DCMerkle

I will be watching it on TV as I do everytime a new president is sworn in. It would kinda be neat to be there. Maybe one day I will make it to an Inaguration.

lilwonders, I would have loved to have been there also, but even though I don't mind crowds, I think that the crowd there would have been just a little too overwhelming for me. I think that the first inauguration, that I payed attention to, was the Carter inauguration. DCMerkle

Even though I live near Washington DC I plan to avoid that place like the plague. It is going to be a traffic nightmare. I plan to watch it on TV at home and if there is a local event somewhere I might go to that to see what is happening. I think it will be an interesting and amazing event.

snowy, I wouldn't blame you one little bit. It will be a mad house in D.C. I remember going to D.C. for the Cherry Blossom festival when I was a kid and my father, who was from New York City, was alway complaining about the traffic, imagine that!...lol I hope that you can find an event that makes the day worth while for you.
