Have you ever walked by someone and thought to yourself about how they really stink because they put to much or perfume or cologne on? Well today I had an appointment for my boys so we walked to our appointment and as I was walking down the hallway to the office this guy walked right by me and boy did he have way too much cologne on. It just made me gag because it was too strong, I had trouble breathing because of it. So I said to myself that the Cologne Company called and said they want their cologne back...lol. Have you ever experienced something like this?

I can't stand the smell of Coconut Butter, so I had to quit riding the bus where I live to school.

Coconut Butter smell is not that bad if it is mixed with like cucumber smell. Because this way it evens out the smell. It's ashamed that people think they need so much fragrance stuff on and not alone that but to just pile it on it is just insane. Happy Mylotting

If it was just the occasional smell of it it would be okay with me, however this was with every single woman who walked onto the bus...ugh.

Now I don't blame you there, if I was on a bus where every single women was wearing it I too would not ride the bus any more because of it. I mean it sounds like no one on the bus has a taste of their own or something.

Perfume really bothers me. I can get a headache from really strong perfume. Sometimes I have felt the need to get up and move away from someone with to much or to strong a perfume on. Don't wear the stuff myself.

Yes I feel like that to when people wear strong perfume. So I so bucked my butt really fast by the guy so that I could breath fresh air that was not intoxicated by the stuff that people think that they have pile on themselves or bathe in the stuff. Happy Mylotting

Yes I have. I have a tendency to notice women more than men. I hate it when women bathe themselves in their perfume. I have a really good friend who does that and she can never understand why we never stand really close to her. We have tried to explain it to her but she just doesnt seem to get it. She always says its never strong enough. But I have gone shopping with my husband and kids and walked by people who are wearing so much that my kids notice. And my kids are honest enough to ask me what that nasty smell is. Believe me, I had to turn and walk the other way on some of the comments my kids have said.

That is so funny but yet serious that your children are honest with the comments that they have. I don't like to pile the stuff on and it's not often that I wear perfume, I in fact prefer body spray because the way I see no matter how much of that you pile on it never gets to strong. That is strange that your friend just does not get it when it comes to advice that you have. I would think that she would want your help so that people don't treat her like she is nothing. Maybe one of these days she will listen. Happy Mylotting

When we were created in the likeness and image of God, he created a natural perfume for us too. Isn't it interesting that man believes he can improve on God's creations? I utterly detest artificial perfumes, and will sometimes almost gag when in close proximity with a heavy perfume user.

Hello, I don't have anything wrong with perfume or cologne it's just that I don't like it when people over do it though. And I feel that god would not have made the talent for this kind of man made item if he did not want it here on earth, but I could be wrong who knows.

Lol, that is a good one, the cologne company called and want their cologne back. I've got to use that. But yeah I have walked by both men and women who put way to much perfume or cologne on and I'm like geeze did they pour the whole bottle all over themselves. Sometimes I'll just walk by and start coughing due to the strong scent

Hello, I'm glad that you found that joke amusing I was starting to think that no one would find it funny when I was reading each response. I'm glad that your going to use to the joke. I just thought that at the same time of making my discussion serious that I would also make it funny. Yes the coughing gets to me when people use to much on themselves and it is like you can taste it....yuck is my opinion on people who use to much. Happy Mylotting

Yes, I've had this happen a few times before. Like you, I wanted to gag. Although I don't mind a small amount of cologne or perfume a large amount grosses me out. The time that I remember most though, I didn't walk by the person, she walked by me. My husband and I had gone to one of his favorite restaurants as a child. He claimed that they made the best fried chicken, even better than KFC. I had never gone so I didn't know what to expect, but I thought it would be fun...that is, until the waitress with the overwhelming perfume came to our table to take our order. She had on so much perfume it made me feel ill, literally. Well, I somehow got my order taken along with my husband's and when she was out of ear shot I complained to him about her stench. My husband on the other hand wasn't bothered by it...his nose was plugged up from allergies, lucky b@stard. LOL After she brought us the food, I couldn't bring myself to eat it because at that point the whole restaurant (or at least the spot where my husband and I had been sitting) smelled just like that waitress. And it was still powerful after she stepped away. As my husband wasn't bothered by it he ate his meal and then we bagged mine and left. I was so relieved to get outside and breathe some fresh air. Ahh! Good thing it happened then and not now as I am not as quiet as I used to be.

Wow, I think that both your hubby and I are very lucky B@stard's then cause my hubby too can't smell a thing because of his allergies. Man I wish we got to trade places with them so that they know how we feel...lol But hey I still love my hubby no matter what. That is not right to have to sit there having an order taken from a waitress that stench like that. What is sad is that she should not have been working if she is going to have that much perfume on. The only reason I know this is because when I was in school for Culinary Arts us girls were always told not to wear make-up if you are going to just pile it on and not wear perfume if you were going to pile that on too. So why her boss did not say something is way beyond me. But you know this for next time when you and your hubby goes out again. Because if you encounter the same thing you can tell her she violating the rules of Culinary Arts. Happy Mylotting

I do this all the time. Always end up in an elevator with the man that bathed in their favorite cologne and I end up dizzy from the fumes? What are they trying to cover up?!? It doesn't make things any better that certain fragrances, no matter how strong, set off my allergies. Even if it doesn't stink I have to avoid it for all my sneezing. I think there should be a law against wearing way too much perfume or cologne. But how to enforce it?

I so agree with you there, there should be a rule or something because it does get to be to much. There is no need to bathe in the stuff it gets to where i feel like saying something to them but I don't want to offend them in any way.

I have come across many times the people who wear so much cologne that it makes you gag. I swear they take a bath in it before leaving the house. Maybe it was their way of taking a bath?? There are some woman who smell like the entire cologne department in the store. I wonder if they smell what we smell when they walk by us. If it is that strong to us, it has to be that powerful to them. They must taste it all day or are they ammuned to the smell? I was in a store getting a coffee one morning and there was a woman at the counter in front of me that was wearing a bottle of cologne. When I got to the counter and before this woman left, I had asked the clerk load enough, "Did you break a bottle of cologne? It smells like it." The clerk said no and smiled. I know that woman heard me as she turned her head to look back. Hopefully she got the hint and maybe will change how much she will wear the next time.

Wow, that was just the right way to say that. It was not said to her face but still to where she could hear ya. I wish I was the type person that could do what you did. But it is good that might of gotten the hint. To me there is no need for people to wear to much. Happy Mylotting

I have to say that yes, that has happened to me in my time. I have traveled by some people where the perfume or cologne just permeated the air so strongly that my throat would get a little itchy. I personally don't where a lot of perfume but when I do I try to be moderate about it. It doesn't have to be over done.

I know the feeling of the itchiness and I also get like the taste of the stuff on the back of my throat and yuck that is just sick. It just gets to where I want to say to them hey did you know that you have too much perfume or cologne on but I don't because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Happy Mylotting

When I was a kid, before going to church, I tried putting on some perfume, and I didn't know what it was, but what I remember is that I sprayed a lot. By the time the mass started, I almost passed out, good thing my mom was there to stop me from hitting the floor. Too much perfume is never a good thing hahaha. Maybe grown ups who do this just want to get noticed, or try to mask some other "odor", making things worse. :p

That is just funny. Not knowing that when you were little. But that is how we learn our lessons. Yes it does make things worse when people try to mask out other odors by using perfume or cologne. It was a good thing that your mom stopped you from hitting the floor. Happy Mylotting

This reminds me of a time I flew to New York from California. I was already in my seat waiting for take off and a few more people were still getting on the plane. And then this women sat right next me. I was by the window. She had soo much perfume on. It seemed like she literally bathe in a whole bottle of perfume. It was so bad. I knew there was no way that I could make it to New York with that smell. So as soon as we took off and she went to the bathroom, I ask the stewardess if I could change seats. The stewardess could still smell the perfume in the air and she couldn't even stand it. There wasn't any coach seats left, so they let me sit in business class. I felt bad, but I am very sensitive to smells in small places. And I hate getting sick, especially on a plane. lol... I only use perfume on special occasions and not much of it. Anyway, have a good one! :)

Well I gotta say that it was good that you got to get a different seat then cause that would just suck to have to sit next to a person for a whole trip smelling like that. I too only wear perfume once in awhile and when I, I only put a little on because I know how sensitive people can be to different odors. Happy Mylotting
