Unemployment has hit our family hard!! My mother and sister have been unemployed for months. My sister in law just lost her job a few days ago. My 1/2 sister has been fired as well. My hubby has 2 brothers who have recently lost their jobs. My hubby is holding his breath. Anyone else in this boat? And is it about to sink altogether?

you are not alone. There is people out there that are in the same boat. Right now, My fiance and I are struggling to pay our bills. We do have jobs but our pay just cut to 15%. I don't know where to get money to pay for our loans. We do feel it is going to sink. At times, I feel it is better to get unemployment then working as everytime i get paid i don't see the money. It is just hard. With the recession and the basic items are expensive, i don't know how people survive. To your family and you, just keep looking for a job and i hope that you would find one.

wow, you are certainly having a rough go of it. what sector are they in? do they all work in the same fields? i think we are almost on a brink of another depression and its up to obama to stop the flood of unemployment. i hope your family find jobs soon.

I am so sorry to hear about your families misfortune about losing their jobs. I am hoping that soon that everyone will be able to get a job. Nowadays it is so hard to keep companies afloat and then they let employees go and times are hard enough as it is without losing ones job. I sincerely hope that your family gets their jobs back or gets a job to help them.

I lost my job in September, and still out of work. I am considering taking a CNA class because at least folks in the health care industry will have jobs up and running and I feel I can start there, and then move to where I want to go. (Nursing School) I have filed for unemployment, did NOT receive it and when I went for welfare or TANF, they told me to apply again. From what I hear about this new stimulus package that is in the Senate, only a small percentage is for us the people and that is real discouraging. Please if you can, go to my profile and check out my discussions about the bailout(what if you got it) and my unemployment woes. Peace. To answer the last question, I pray it don't sink altogether but it seems to me if folks want to do for self, they want to do it for themselves!!

I have 2 brothers that have been let go or laid off from their jobs in the last few months. One brother has a few options as far as places he can go to look for a job. By that I mean different states where people will put him up if necessary. The other one is grounded where he is and is not looking outside this area.

I have begun to take the recession seriously and I am, for once, following what the politicians are doing with regards to it. I can't really do anything except hang in there. I have, in the last few days, started thinking about how I can help safeguard my family in case I lose my job.

I hope that your husband won't lose his job. In these uncertain times, my family is still lucky because we still have our jobs. But this does not mean that we are not worried or complacent. All of us are implementing small economics in the house so that if ever (I hope not) this happens, we will be able to survive the crisis. My prayers to you and your family and hope that you will be ok after this.

I have voiced this quite often here on Mylot, I lost my job seven months ago. I know this economic situation is hitting a lot of people pretty hard. Your family seems to have been hit very hard. I am struggling, struggling, struggling. this month is the first time ever I have not been able to pay my rent in full. And to add salt to the wound, my husband was fired from his job last friday, they claim he was not making his quota, he is a salesman. The company said this, even though they kept sending him to impoverished areas where people did not have the money to buy new carpet. I take it personal, because all the other salesmen are doing very good, because they are being sent to affluent neighborhood, so of course their odds for making the sales are good. So now both of us are without decent paying jobs. My husband can not even collect unemployment because he was an independent contractor. I feel for your family, and hopefully soon they will be back on track. Honestly, I think it is about to sink altogether.
