Well here in Minnesota it's been above average temperatures. WQe have lost a lot of snow cover due to the warmth and sunshine. So today I spent a couiple hours outside chipping away all the ice formed from the melting snow along the curb of my street. I cleared out a lot and cleared the sewer of ice as well so the melting snow has a p[lace to drain. If I don't do this I end up with a huge area of ice on the end and up onto my driveway which isn't safe. This shot here shows about one fourth of the ice I chipped away. There's more to the left in this photo as well as a lot on my lawn and in the driveway as well. Gawd I love this physical draining work each wonter thaw. NOT! Well it is exercise after all. Do you get a lot of exercise outdoors in the cold winter months? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I get plenty of exercise shoveling snow! I don't do the ice chipping that you do but that's a good idea about the sewer and I'll keep an eye on the one on my street.

My first winter in this house I called the city complaining about the ice/water back up in my drive. They said it was the residents responsibility. Yet we pay what the city calls sewer and water fees. Well I asked them what the fees are for if not to clear the ice so I didn't have to. I got no answer. So I do it and I still have to pay the water and sewer fees every three months. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yeah, I hear ya...I pay taxes to the city, presumably for street maintenance and stuff but only the main streets get plowed, salted or brined. My street is a mess when we have a heavy snow, especially this last bunch with ice between snowfalls. I was home for a week because I didn't want to slip and slide the three blocks to the main thoroughfare!

I get exercise int he winter also when it snows or if we have ice. We put salt down and do some shoveling and breaking ice also. There seems to be work with every season.

I try to avopid salt as much as possible due to Buster. The salt damages his pads of his paws if he gets too much on them. If I use it on the deck out back I sweep it off as soon as it melts the ice to avoid problems with Buster etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't really get any exercise outside in the winter, it's too cold or too snowy for me. I miss walking outside. I do exercise during the winter on my treadmill. I walk on there everyday.

Not really. All I shovel are my back and front steps...the rest my neighbor does...I hire him as he is retired and so it gives him a bit of cash.

I do mine as it is a great form of exercise when I shovel by hand. The snowblower is the lazy mans exercise I guess. At times I have to use that though due to the depth etc of the snow at times. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hey Grandpa Bob! That sure is alot of ice! That must have been some chipping job! Looks like alot of work! But, I'm sure it is a necessary job to get rid of the stuff! And good that you cleared the drain! Looks like you are a real pro at this stuff! Guess you been at long enough with those Minnesota winters! Give you alot of credit! It seems like it's not easy living in Minnesota! But it sure seems like a great place to live!

Yeah it was a lot of ice. A lot of hard work as well. I was soaked with sweat and smelly even though it was only 40 degrees out. This takes a lot out of me each year but it is good for my heart I reckon. Minnesota grows on one actually. I am used to this type of weather and work etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hey, I'm in Minnesota too! Go us! :) I agree, it was GORGEOUS out today - although only about thirty degrees. Definitely a nice change from the usual crappy winter weather. I definitely don't get out enough during the wintertime - it's just too darn cold. :(

I also walk my Buster ever so often as long as it's not too cold out for either of us. He loves it but when theres a lot of snow he hates walking in it and prefers to run through it. I can't run through it like he does. He got 2 walks this week so far. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't get enough exercise in the winter or summer. Right now if you go outside you will have to hang on or get blown away but it is 75 degrees right now.

Hello Grandpa Bob. Right now the weather in my hometown is getting much warmer and it is good for the outdoor exercise, but back to my hometown for the winter vacation I have been very busy with my family life, visiting relatives from one house to another. Still I think that this is also some kind of outdoor exercise that I like. Thank you so much for the discussion and the photo, dear friend.

You have so much work because of the weather. We have such mild weather compared to you. We have had storms on and off but just rain nothing big and we are still in drought conditions. We need weeks of rain to catch up to what we need.

Hi Grandpa Bob! I do have enough exercise in cleaning the front and back yard whether it is in summer or in the rainy months here in our place. It usually takes a minimum of two hours in cleaning and watering the garden and all the yard. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

I don't get hardly any exercise at all any more. About all I can do is walk a little bit but here at my daughters house there is no where to walk. We live on a narrow road with deep ditches on each side and hardly any shoulder. Not only that the road is twisty and has a lot of traffic. They go pretty fast too, so I know they would run over me before they could see me. Anyway, I am going to have to find some way to get in some exercise.
