If we could all just talk

Don't you think the world would be a better place if people could just talk to each other? Just really hear what the other person has to say...find compromise, instead of delivering ultimatums... Maybe things would be better if we realized we're all in this together...

I agree with you! It would be better to solve problems through discussion, understanding, caring, seeking not just our interests but also the interests of others. The world needs a new and better attitude. Live the dream!

Enlightened self-interest. Hm. The ground beneath our feet should be enough reason to seek the interests of others. You are absolutely correct. I live the dream as best I can, but I'm looking for people to share it with. No use in having a dream if you end up alone, right? :)

Keep on sharing your dream. You may find that there are many others with the same dream. As my friend John Lennon sang: "You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one"

Good point. There needs to be effective communication: Talking and Listening. But not just listening, actually hearing what a person has to say. And respecting them for their individuality. If only.

We seem to do this really well one-on-one. Polkitics and languages get in the way, though, and nation-to-nation, it just doesn't seem to work at all. If special interests weren't as owerful as they are, maybe there would be a chance. I'd love for it to happen!

It will be but before that I think we have to change our attitudes first. We need to discard or control certain characteristics like thinking we are always right, we are far superior than other people, ego, self-indulgence, greed, paranoia, and mistrust. These are among the characteristics which have prevented the world from becoming a better place. Even on this site you may have met members who are like this. We still have a long way to go. all the best, rosdimy

Perception is everything. We change our attitudes, we change the world. We might have a long way to go, I'm just not sure how much time is left...how long can people go on hating and killing each other? Well, for as long as they do, I'll just try to love them more. I figured out in bed last night (I'm an insomniac) that the easiest way to emotionally exist, is to love. When you love everything, it makes it hard to be unhappy, or cruel. Now, how can I say love everything? There are bad things in this world. Very bad things that hurt people. But they also teach people invaluable lessons, and open others eyes to the truth that exists. What I mean, is Truth. Or maybe acceptance. But what I mean is what is real, is true. And accepting reality for what it is, allows us to understand how things can really be. Despite it all, I'd rather "the truth that draws a tear, instead of the lie that draws the smile". Even tears are tokens of love... I ramble.
