What do you do when you are sick and miserable and your nose appears to have turned into a rather iffy faucet over night? What do you do just for comfort? What do you do to get past your cold?

I drink a good ginger juice to cure my remedy. I boil gonger into water till the water reduces to half and then while going to the bed I just drink it off. This helps me in overcoming my cold quite a few times so try it once you are suffering from the cold.

make something warm to drink and go to bed. sleep seems to be the only thing that does anything for me. most of those over the counter meds don't do anything.

I usually take medicine when the cold is very much worse. But in most cases, I just drink plenty of fluids and juices.

For one I take Mucinex, read the symptoms on the box there are several different ones to choose from. It sound like you possibly could have allergies, check with a doctor, or try some sinus over the counter medication.

I buy lots of soft tissues and a coconut lip balm. That is helpful for the sore skin around my lips and nose. I use my fingers to apply some around my nose area. I drink cranberry juice when my throat is sore. If I feel it is necessary I drink watered down lemon juice. At night I make sure I have loads of tissues and a glass of water because my throat gets dry when I can't breathe through my nose.

i take some flu tablets. and i down loads of warm / hot water down my throat. at times, when the nose is really blocked. i might get a little temperature or my head will hurt a bit. times like these, i'd just hide under my comforter and seek comfort.

when i get cold, the best remedy which i like is to inhale steam in which some kind of balm or drops of eucalyptus oil are put. it creates great aroma and i feel very comfort, i dont eat lemons, yogurt kind of stuff. i never prefer using any kind of medicines when i get cold, because what i believe is if left like that it will itself reduce within three to four days and i have read somewhere that no medicines work for cold, i dont know whether that is true or false, but then, i dont prefer using medicines and instead inhale steam that comes from hot water.

Mine usually goes away on it's own but for my honey I get "Niquil or Dayquil" that usually helps.

Sleep. That's the best way I get over colds (especially when they're just starting), and if I don't get enough it seems like the cold lasts forever. I take a healthy (sometimes double) dose of a nighttime cold medicine because they get rid of the stuffy nose and make you SLEEP. They also are apt to give you interesting dreams...but that's for another discussion.

I never take tablets or such things for cold and cough. If at all the nose is running too much, then i take cold-act tablet, otherwise there are many home-remedies like milk boiled with turmeric powder and ginger etc. If there is cough which is choking the throat then 'Sitopaladi' churna from Dabur company is my best choice, it is consumed with honey for throwing out all that cough from the throat.

My number one remedy, is to eat a clove of raw garlic. The problem with this is the smell and it's OK if I am not going out socializing. I also juice ginger, apple and garlic together and drink it.. . Derek

When I get a cold I try to take some kind of medicine so the symptoms are not so bad. If I have runny nose and watery eyes i try to take an antihistimine but it is hard to do during the day especially if you are at work. I don't get colds very often so if it is a bad cold I usually stay home because my eyes usually water so much I can't work anyway and I can take the antihistamine and then nap for a while. At night the one thing I always take is Nyquil or even the store brand of Nyquil. It works for me and lets me get rest which I think a good nights rest helps you get over it, at least it does for me.

A glass of hot milk with a teaspoon of honey and a dash of whiskey before I go to bed. Makes me sleep like a log even if my nose is bunged up and I feel better for having had a good night's sleep. I repeat every evening until the cold starts diminishing.
