Since when does a president fire a private citizen?

I can't believe a president can fire a private citizen! Just because the head of GM didn't want to build golf carts! Electric cars will be dangerous in freezing temperatures-once again, Obama thinks the U.S. only consists of California and Florida. Electric batteries will explode in freezing temperatures. I guess if you live in North Dakota or Minnesota you don't count for anything in this president's eyes. And where is this magical new energy he promised during his campaign? So far I haven't seen it.

January 21st 2009. That is apparently when the President of the United States decided that he could do anything that he wanted. The bad part of it is that on this same day the other 2 branches of government decided that it was ok. I did not know that about the bateries. I will have to look into that.

We are getting deeper and deeper into tyranny. Why can't anyone see that?! Our "representatives" are going along with these insults to our constitution. We can scream all we want and they won't listen. I'll bet that within a year there will be a revolution. People are going to finally be fed up, and I'll drag my old body right out to the front lines!

"I'll bet that within a year there will be a revolution." I hate to even see it thought of, because it's going to be a very sad day for a lot of people, but what can you do? As a dictator, Obama should know the people will revolt.

Obama reminds me of a 12 year old in a toy store. He can't hardly wait to design the next Obama-mobile. I'll bet that this is really what this is about. That's what Hitler did-he helped to creat the Volkswagen. "I'm gonna make my own car-it'll be a piece of crap that people in Wisconsin won't be able to drive on the snow or ice, but, oh well!" Ever seen a Prius try to drive on ice? My brother knows somebody who owns one, in Denver. They hate it, in the winter time. I guess in Obama's world there is no snow and ice. Just skittles, unicorns, and damsels in distress...

I think a revolution will be the only way out of this mess. Obama is just as bad a Hitler, only this time, because he is here in the US, there is no one to stop him!

Haven't you heard? King Obama can do anything he wants. Congress goes along with him because the only dissenters aren't given a chance to voice their opinions. If the King wants golf carts, he'll do anything to get them, even trash the Constitution of the US.

It is a good thing we have nanny obama to look out for us. Run our businesses, handle our healthcare, feed and clothe us. Don't worry about the promises not seen through, he will take care of you!

Well, the government is making it clear that they are taking over anything and everything they want to and anybody who doesn't do what they want done is going to be stomped on. I wonder why the bailout money was conditional to the auto makers and not to those companies that handed out the big bonus' to their workers out of the bailout money...seems like double standards to me. This is what happens when we allow the federal government to get involved with the private sector...it is not longer private and the government can decide who gets to keep their jobs.

because he's the president? what does THAT mean? I would suggest you read the constitution, he has no such power.

Marcia, he is the President, NOT the Emperor! He can't just do whatever he wants because he wants to. He swore to defend and uphold the Constitution and the Constitution limits the power the President is given.

He sure thinks he's the emperor. I'm waiting for him to start erecting statues to himself and making people worship them.

Since when does the government fire a private citizen? Since the private citizen in question has run a multi billion dollar company into the ground and been bailed out oby the government once and is coming back for more money. Since the taxpayers now own a great big chunk of that CEO's company and the government represents the interests of those taxpayers.

The way I see it, if you are not drinking the koolaid and singing the praises of the leper messiah, you don't matter. Washington will not stop with the banking and auto industry either, the apparent goal is to have the "state" running everything.

The "state running everything" is socialism (really Communism), plain and simple.

I know that, too bad the blind followers of the leper messiah fail to realize it - or worse, think it's OK!

The president requested Mr. Wagoner's resignation as part of the restructuring process at GM. GM has promised to focus primarily on cars that are fuel efficient, as well as cars that are electric like the Bolt, which is set to be released next year. These fuel efficient cars will enable the company to better compete with Toyota and Nissan and be able to increase their market share in the industry. It's predicted that in the near term, the Bolt will represent a small percentage of total sales.

Based on the most recent news reports, GM was slow to implement changes to their operations, and in fact tried to deviate from the agreement they had with the goverment. I think this may have been one of the reasons the GM CEO was asked to resign. The board of directors would have had to approve the resignation as part of their ongoing process to successfully restructure the company and continue to receive bailout money.
