Have you ever tried counting those sheep? What is the maximum number of sheep you have counted at a go?

I can't remember... I did try counting sleep but fell asleep and forgot how far I got! It would be far simpler to just open the curtains and count the sheep in the field! Brightest Blessings my friend.

I can't sleep with the windows closed, but they have to get over the fence at the bottom of the garden first and through the holly! ha ha!

I never have a problem falling asleep, so no sheep for me. In fact, often I fall asleep when I don't intend to, most often when I'm reading in the evening.

I didn't try to count them although I have learned this lesson but somehow I can't imagine them jumpin over the boundary wall. Thing which I do is imagining a cricket match and try to count the shots they play!

How about mixing the two ideas and imagining sheep playing the cricket.Well of course there are some black sheep already in the cricket field.

I tried once or twice. I got jumbled and therefore more stressed. My numbers would get all mixed up. And beyond a 100 or so it got boring and I was still awake.

It makes things worse I suppose.Imagine a situation where you are trying to sleep and instead trying to extricate from a jumble busily.

Backwards Bala from 100 till 1. And guess what i never got beyond 74 sheep. Did i fall asleep ? No. I went on muttering something confused between sheep and the numbers. I could not sleep at all after that.

I think that is a fallacy my friend, because I have tried it in the past and the sheep refuse point blank to jump over that damn fence! Love nor money or a nice patch of daisy infested grass will get those sheep over the fence. I have tried replacing the sheep with other animals but to no avail, so I have given it up as a bad job! It doesn't work for me. I wonder if sheep to help them get to sleep county humans jumping over the fence until they nod off? Baaaaaaa!

Nope. I never did that. I remember counting the stars and counting numbers backwards as a grown up though. As a child, I do not remember staying awake for sleeplessness. Play, study, more play, eat and go to bed. All followed spontaneously and going to bed would mean going to sleep! such simple, happy life!

Childhood is a bliss. Its sad how children are growing up so quickly, losing their childhood. Let your angel enjoy every bit of it and your joy would be manifold. I know you do that, still just said.

I usually don't have any problems (thank goodness) in falling asleep. I never go to bed unless I am almost dropping and then as soon as my head hits the pillow I am gone However I did try counting sheep and found it was not working very well until I read somewhere the trick to make it work - you have to count them BACKWARDS It seems that if you start from number 1, being an infinite number, your brain will keep on counting. If you start from 100 and go backwards to number 99, 98, 97 your brain will relax as the sheep get over that fence. Try imagining them jumping backwards too like a film in reverse and it's even more fun!

I think Ive done that when I was a child. I just wanted to try if it was effective. I remember getting to more than a hundred and fifty, then I just about gave up, rolled to my side, closed my eyes, and the next thing I knew it was morning.LOL! I guess I shouldve counted those sheep with my eyes closed huh? Maybe I counted those at least a few more times during bedtime but nowadays I really dont have to. I dont have insomnia anymore and I can fall asleep whenever I wanted to, as long as its night time. Actually, in the waay early hours of the morning cause I my 'bedtime' is at 3am, especially nowadays that its vacation.

No idea! I don't have any problems falling asleep at all these days and I don't enjoy counting sheep. In the past on the rare occasions that I had problems going to sleep I used to think of a movie I had seen and play it to myself from beginning to end; I usually didn't get to a quarter of the film and I would be off to snooze land!

No, I haven't done that since I was a child. I was told that then. Now I turn the ceiling fan on low and try to count how many times it goes around. It's hypnotic and I go right out.

Yeah balasri, I had tried counting sheep if I couldn't fall asleep earlier. After counting 100 sheep, my eyes still opened widely I then started counting one black sheep, followed by 2 white ship, 3 black .... the next morning when I woke up I had forgotten completely, actually I had how many sheep of white as well as black color before going to my sweet dream. Nowadays I could fall into sleep easily. I don't have to count those sheep anymore Happy posting

Ya, tried a few times but its doesn't work for me as I alway miss count and have to start all over again. That make me more awake and I couldn't remember the maximum count. If I could remember the maximum count then it means that I'm not sleeping at all.

No, I don't count sheep, but I do have a little radio plugged into my ear. I like listening to the talkback and the quizzes they have on at night - and usually I fall asleep right when I DON'T want to, because I'm listening to something interesting!

Hey balasri! I have tried counting the sheep jumping over the fence, but to no avail! I just kept counting and counting and I finally got bored and tired of counting! I wonder if that really works for anyone? It surely didn't work for me! If I continue I would have gotten into the billions if I could remember what number I was on after awhile! So, no that isn't going to help me fall asleep! I need to find another and better way!
