How do you feel when you don't get mail?

Since I've moved I haven't gotten nearly as much junk mail as I used to, it's all just bills now, but the lack of junk mail has certainly been noticed. At least one day a week my mail box will be totally empty. No bills, no junk mail, not even a coupon circular! Normally I panic a little when I don't see any mail. I wonder if maybe the mailman forgot to stop at my house, because it seems rather impossible to not recieve any mail what so ever! There was a time once a few years ago where the mail man refused to deliver mail to my house because my mailbox was not attached to anything, but instead of telling me, he just stopped delivering my mail. A couple weeks went by before I called the post office to find out where my mail was! So I guess that's why I question the lack of mail sometimes when my box is empty. What goes through your head when your mailbox is empty? "Yay, no bills today!"?

It's kind of like, "Dang even the people who send Junk Mail don't think I am important today." I get lots of junk mail. Most of the time it is not for me though. It is addressed to the people who used to live here before. Unless I am expecting something it does not really bother me.

I used to get that too, but not here. Nobody lived in my house before me, actually it was the office before I moved in, so my mail is my own, and my box is usually pretty empty. It might be making me upset because of all the holidays we have this month and I keep hoping I'll get a card or something even though I know there's no one to send me a card... ah well!

I love getting mail - not junk mail but mail as in letters etc. I have my work address as may mailing address as mail is not delivered to my home. I woul dhave ot go to the Post Office to collect it - standing in long lines etc. I remember as a child, waiting impatiently for the Postman to come on my Birthday. he would always wish me Happy Birthday and hand over seven cards. There were always seven each year - I don't know why. However I would always open a card from my Aunt first as hse would send me money. We have in our family so mnay letters handed done from the early 1900"s. Including telegrams that announced to my grandmother that both her husband and son had been killed in the 1914-1918 war. The telelgrams would have a bl;ack border on the envelope. This was to alert the postamn so he would go to a neighbiour's house first to let them know that their neighbour was going to get bad news. Even now, (and I know this is so last century) if I have attened a dinner party or some event - I write a thank you note on a card and send it in the post. It is always appreciated. Good post

I never got cards in the mail for my birthday until I became an adult. As a child, all my friends and relatives lived close by so would see me on or near my birthday. But now that my mom has passed, I no longer get cards on my birthday.

I don't care much about my mail, because most of my bills I am able to pay online. I hate junk mail and tons of papers I never read...I rather have no mail in my mailbox...

I love it when I first move because it takes a while for all the junk mail to catch up with you! When we moved here four years ago it was bliss, not a single piece of junk mail and I have done pretty well in making sure it stays that way I make sure that all the boxes are ticked on anything to stop it and make sure that everyone else in the house does so too!! I think that I only get one bill through the post now everything else is on a direct debit from the bank.

I get very little mail as I moved countries and the junk mail people haven't yet caught up with me! Just about everything I recieve is from the bank, and the very occassional personal letter which really brightens my day. When my postman comes he beeps his horn as he's too idle to get out of his van and walk to my postbox, so not getting mail quite suits me.

Hello katsmeow1213 , I moved a month ago so I find it a nice break to not be getting junk mail. Only thing I have to remember is who and what places I gave my address change to.So I like the yay no bills today, not that I very many to begin with .

I too am still trying to figure out who does not have my new address yet. I think everyone who is important has my new address, but my mail is still being forwarded from my old address too, so I have a chance to see if I've forgotten anyone or not.

Have you checked your bank accounts or credit card accounts? Diverting bills with a temporary change of address card is a classic trick of identity thieves. Surprisingly the postal offices are not more careful.

I think that would be illegal to not deliver mail just because your mailbox wasn't attached to anything. I don't know though. In any case, my fiance and I usually on receive catalogs or packages thus far, so when it comes to bills or not getting any mail, we're not too concerned.

I hate when my mailbox is empty because that means no freebies and samples. Oh, and coupons! I can't live without those. I'm so frugal but other than that I really don't care if there is mail or not. I'm sure my mailman likes it, last year there was a lot of samples out there and I would have a full mailbox and he stack stuff up on the front porch as well LOL

When there is no mail in the box at all I am happy that there aren't any bills but I do understand the hint of concern that you get. I sometimes wonder myself about my mail carrier. We have gotten a notice that are mailbox is too short by about 2 inches and that we need to raise it but my husband said that it is sunk into concrete and practically impossible to get out with out destroying the post. We have 2 mail carriers, one is really nice and always says hello and waves the other is a complete witch. I wouldn't be surprised is she did hold our mail because of the mailbox. Then usually the day after we don't get any mail we get a ton...the box is stuffed.

My response to this question would be, there is no news it can not be bad. Though having said that I tend not to have bills to pay. I do get somewhat annoyed if I am awaiting a cheque payment or some form of job interview confirmation. However when I feel that all my mail is from the junk circular leaflets and so on, I do not mind not getting any mail.

The mailbox being empty can only be a good thing. It's nothing but bills and junk mail. Unless Ed McMahon personally walks up to my front door with a ten million dollar check in hand, I'm happy to not receive any mail.

I love not having bills, but when I don't get mail I feel kind of lonely. Like no one loves me lol. It is a silly feeling, but it happens. :D I can't believe your mailman stopped dropping off your mail, that has to be an offense of some kind. Not getting junk mail is nice though, isn't it?

I always feel I can get mail everyday, when somedays I don't get maiol, I feel weird. If I don't have anything exoected, I feel alright that I don't get mail somedays but if I'm expecting something, I feel very excited when it is time when the mail come.

Well I have subscribed to a lot of magazines and periodicals which I usually get during the first 2 weeks of the month.......so I keep checking them until I don't get all of them......and the second most important things are my bills I always hunt for them.....specially my telephone bills......as if I don't pay my bill on time they would disconnect my line at the same time also levy a late fine on me......which I definitely wont like to pay....so usually these two are my priority......sometimes when it does not come at its scheduled time and date it really scares me......although this happens very rarely......

I don't receive a lot of mail, and I actually am happy about it. We have "no, no" stickers on our door (which means we don't want to receive junk mail). The only thing junk mail is to me, is a thing that is bad for the environment. Thousands of kilograms of paper get delivered each day, and almost no attention is given to it... Bad stuff!

I also dont get mail at least once per week. I have never had any problems like you have, though. There are even days that I will be sending mail, which is taken, but I wont get any mail. I love it! It means when I do get mail, it is usually something good. I love that feeling of being excited about the mail because it is probably something you want. I also like not wasting all of the trees that go into junk mail! In fact, I have most of my bills set to paperless, so I dont have to waste paper on those. I hope you can get past your anxiety of no mail and come to enjoy it!
