Gas or charcoal?

We have a gas grill here at our house. We use that quite often, usually once a week, even in the winter. Steaks and burgers are always done on our grill, no matter what time of year it is. We don't often get the priveledge of eating food cooked on a charcoal grill. But last night we had a cook-out at a nearby park where they have those BBQ pits for grilling. We bought a small bag of charcoal and grilled some burgers. Since we don't do it often, we could definitly taste the difference between meat cooked on a gas grill and meat cooked on a charcoal grill! Wow! It takes a bit longer and a bit more effort, but the taste of meat cooked over charcoal is so worth the effort. Hubby now wants me to buy him a little charcoal grill for Father's Day. Which type of grill do you prefer? Which do you use most often?

I do not possess a grill at all. I would love one though. We used to have a small charcoal one on the farm and the food tasted very good. ZYou have inspired me to go and check out the prices. I am always in admiration at the way you enjoy your time with the children and take the effort ot get them out of the house etc. enjoy the summer.

Aww thanks. I hate sitting around the house myself. I'm actually feeling guilty that I'm sittin indoors now when it's so nice out. But whenever hubby is home I make sure we're out somewhere unless it's too nasty. Good luck finding a nice grill. I can't imagine life without grilling!

I live in a hot country so it is something that can be used all the year round. I don't know why I haven't bought one before - or even looked at the prices. I am going to check out the prices.

When we are here at home we have a gas barbecue, as well as a elecric george forman barbecue, but when were away we have a charcoal disposable barbecue. I do not mind any kind of barbecue, as the food is always great that we cook on it.We have two at home, as we always invite loads of people around to join us for a barbecue.

We prefer Charcoal in this house! There's no point in grilling if you don't get that char flavor in your food. TO me a gas grill is no different than cooking on the stove in the house except you are outside and you are not heating up your house in summer.

We just have a barbeque grill that is out in our garden, unfortunately someone left it out of the garage and it is now all rusty and ruined so we will not be able to use it. But they sell disposable ones in our local supermarket which are quite cheap so I may just invest in a couple of those this next week if the weather is going to be good. The taste of a sausage or a burger on a barbeque is fantastic they are just so tasty even if the burger is a cheap one it is a fantastic taste when it is cooked!

I do like the taste of food cooked with charcoal, and I love the smells, however, with charcoal you always have that chance of having too lighter fluid aroma, or sometimes you even get the lighter fluid taste on the food, yuck! Gas is much, much easier to cook with, and probably more reliable unless you run out of propane. They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

When I lived with my dad, he likes grilling and smoking meat. Even in the winter. He uses charcoal. I'd have to say that using charcoal has a better flavor. And using wood chips is good too. Seriously, once you get a smoker and learn how it works and know it, you'll love it forever. There is nothing better than smoked meat. Well, besides marinated and smoked meat. Hehe. Mmm... Smoked brisket... Mmm...

We have a gas grill for up at the camper....it's got the burners etc on it so you can cook a whole meal. It's been a long time since I had anything done with charcoal! It does make the meat tasty.

Gotta be charcoal! That's just good stuff. Makes the burgers taste so earthy.

I love meat cooked over charcoal. It just has that wonderful flavor that I really like. I have only used a gas grill a few times before. I definitely prefer charcoal. You can get one of those little table top sized ones for pretty cheap at Wal-mart.

Every food that we eat it cook in a gas, then if we want to eat grill fish and eggplant we use a charcoal, because gas is wiser to use than charcoal, gas also is also cheapest in using, it end up to 2 months whether when you use charcoal if ever cheapest in price if you going to use it it seems like you also waste your money, once you use it you will never use it again.
