Once I worked as a Lecturer and found this is the job which needs not at any hard work and also the laziest profession.Even if we try to work hard in this profession, there is not option or provision for that. Doing things repeatedly made me disinterested in this job and hence I resigned and looked for some other.I feel this is the job for those who don't like to work hard and who don't like to do new things with innovation. But the earnings are too good here. What do you feel?

You obviously aren't cut out to be a teacher. After being in finance all my life, I moved to Thailand where I became a TESOL teacher. And it's very difficulty and mentally tough. You also have to be creative to be a good teacher, that means you don't do things repeatedly, as you create different ways to teach the same message. You didn't say what you are diong now, but I'd be interested to know.

I appreciate your comments, even though I disagree with you. I worked in finance for many years, and that was boring! For the past eleven years I have been teaching ESL in Thailand, and basicallt we are teaching the same thing, we do teach variety of students from ifferent dackgrounds. I have come across uninterested and lazy teachers, but no more than you see lazy people in other professions. I have also met spme pf the most creative psople working as teachers. It's this creativity that keeps students interested, and the job fon. I think a lifetime in any vocation would have its boring mpments. I have loved my last eleven years.

I agree with you in this regard. In every profession there are lot of lazy people . But due to their laziness, only some part of their work will be affected. But as a teacher, if we are lazy, then it will affect the future society as we are supposed to lead the younger generations. In real life, as the salary to them are too high they feel secured life and hence they are not bothering about anything.Of course they should be the role model to the students. Thanks for your reply.

To keep the students attentive the teachers need to be creative and I agree with you. But as we have to teach the same thing to the different students, that too in the same day. This will make the teachers very much disinterested on their work. If the teachers are given different subjects for every term/semester then it may be possible for them to be creative. But in actual practice it is not possible and the institutions thinks,if the teachers are experienced in some subject, then only they will teach well. This may true for some some time, but as the time goes on, he will definitely loose his interest in that particular subject. For you kind information I am now in IT.

For my own perspective of teaching, it is not a lazy person's profession, Yes it is repeated kind of job, but imagine the world without teachers from our childhood and adulthood. I love teaching only to my nephews and nieces, because i am not patience in teaching large crowd. I easily lost perseverance to teach those who are not listening so better keep it to my niece and nephew.

If we teach only once or twice, that will not make us to loose our interest in teaching and for that you need to prepare the material every day. But if we come to this profession, we need not prepare material every day except for the first or one more year. If some one is preparing the material every year for the same subject then he is not suitable for this profession. As there is no need of knowing new things for our profession, laziness comes automatically. Thanks for your response.

I wanna to be a teacher but it is really difficult. I do not like teaching for it's a repeated job without creativeness and passion. You just need teach the same content by repeating. But,as you said it is a good pay job so there are too many people take part in the competition of being a teacher. Anyway,I have to try my best to be a teacher.

Teaching the same thing again and again is the boring one and of course it is the easy job and it don't need much work except for one or tow years. But as this is said to be the noble profession and also as the essential one, they are being paid well and I feel this for their patient. Thanks for your response.

I have never done teaching as profession but I have taught my friends in my college life. When ever I had completed some chapter of text before others then I taught them that chapter. This has also helped me understand the text better because when you teach someone some thing then your concept also refine. Thats why I love teaching it helped me a lot. I think teaching as a profession is also great. Because when you can see that your students are doing well in their life then it gives a great satisfaction. Again teachers also get respect from others.

As you have taught the lesson once or twice you found it interesting and of course while we teach some thing we are learning more about that. But if it was your profession, then you might find it very boring, as usually we don't like repeating the same and we are in the want of new things every day and in this profession the possibilities are very much limited. If you go for the new things, then you may fail to finish your subjects in time, that we are supposed to do.Thanks for your response.

Handling many people and tolerating the noisy environment is the main part of the teaching profession and as you know this well you stayed away from this. Even if you are the teacher, you will find it very boring as we need to teach the same thing every year to the different students. Thanks for your response.

I agree with you as without the teachers nobody is there. But teaching and teaching profession are different.Teaching is just let other know what you know. If we come to this profession, we need to do the same thing again and again for years together to different students .This need no extra work except learning some teaching skills. Thanks for your response.

Yes, I have been a Teachers Aid, for an Elementry Junior High even a Senior High. I even dealt with kids with Bad Behavior which I didn't like. I use to work in a Kindergarden class with the children thiose kids were so smart, I even told them how to read at 4 to 5 yrs old.

Dealing the kindergarten child is tough rather than teaching them as they will not listen to us easily. But seeing their face itself will remove all the pain we faced. AS you have dealt with the students in the high school, you might be familiar with the repetitiveness in the subject. Will it require much time to prepare for the same subject again? I feel there is not need of preparation and just looking through the syllabus or the topic is enough. Thanks for your response.

oh yes... i do like teaching and i had been an assistant lecturer before back in my uni in my home country... i disagree with you that this job is for somebody who doesn't like to work hard... i find that teaching is a very tedious job and required lots of hardwork as you have to prepare the materials, check on the student's work, prepare exam questions and counsel the students if they have problem... a teacher is a very noble profession as you are not only feeding the studdents with knowledge, but also change their lives... and if you are a good teacher, you will be remembered forever by your students... take care and have a nice day...

It seems that your home country is India ( as we are also doing the same)and please let me know about it,if not.. Yes I did all the works you mentioned and the only problem I met in that profession was that we had limited number of subjects and I did not like to teach the same subject again. That's why I lost my interest in that and i resigned my job. Thanks for your response.

I taught a few adult education classes when I worked at a community college several years ago. I didn't find it dull but, then again, I didn't do it for long and these were hands on computer classes with very motivated students. I taught basic Windows, Microsoft Word and also a class in beginning Excel. On the other end of the spectrum, I have had instructors who were obviously very tired of teaching what they taught and it showed...unlike the ones who actually loved what they were doing.

As you have worked for a short period and the lesson you taught is interesting, you did not find it boring. But if you continue to do the same for years together, you may find it very much boring. Also it seems you have not dealt with very young students and in that case, controlling them in the classes itself is a big task for us,apart from teaching. Thanks for your response.

I love to teach and up unitl the point that I moved almost 2 years ago, I was teaching CPR and First Aid. I never tired of teaching people these life-saving skills, and I still do what I can to help people know about them and what to do in an emergency. I also love to teach kids new things. They are always so curious and eager to learn when they are young. It makes it nice to help them learn new skills. I know that teaching is not a lay profession at all. There is a lot that needs done to make a class go smoothly and to really help the kids learn. Those teachers that do as little as they can get away with and really don't care should not be in that profession at all.

The lesson you thought was very much related with our daily life and hence it is very interesting as almost all of the students will show interest to learn such things as it is easily understandable. Also development in this field is also more and we are able to teach the new things everyday. But in some technical subjects, though the developments are still more most of the universities are not including them in the syllabus immediately and hence we need to teach the old things again and again.Even after the development we are forced to teach the outdated one. This is the issue we have to face in this profession. Thanks for your response.

I worked as a tutor, but never as a teacher. I have also taken so many seminar classed during my studies and got aprpeciation from my teachers. I think I am good at teachign, Mathematics is my subject. But, I don't like to choose teaching as my profession because in my country teachers are paid very less. When I was in school, my dream was to become a school teachers, when I reached college I changed my opinion. Now, I am working with e-learning industry as an Instruction designer. I might go to the job of teaching, which I like, when I become old.

Currently i'm a course teacher for elementary student. That's my part time job. I'm happy to teach children. I like them and they like me being their teacher. I never mind about my teaching earnings because i think the most important thing of being teacher is our pupil's success. From this part time job, actually i get paid in good. I believe i earn good part time income because my pupils are satisfy with my teaching method. Now there are on exam and we're study harder. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Teaching to the elementary students is less harder than controlling them and keep them to watch the lesson is the harder thing as they will be interested only in the plays. Also teaching might depends on the personal interest as like your are having. The students are varying every year but the subject is same. This made me to change my profession. Thanks for your response.

I'm currently working as an English Teacher for non-natives in Khartoum Sudan. In my early days during my career, it was boring, but now i really enjoy (it). One thing i really enjoy about this job is the interaction with the students since they come from different backgrounds, it makes the class interesting. This is the most interesting career i've ever come across. Come on guys boost up the steam in your class. Students dont make the class boring, teachers do.

Apart from all other facts, the main advantage in this field is we can to study the mind of others, if are really interested in our job. This will help us in our future even if we are not in this profession always. As each end every student is having different character, they used to reflect our society. We will never find any difficulty in identifying the nature of the people we are meeting in our day to day life. Thanks for your response and sorry for my delayed response.

I like teaching. When I was in high school, I had couple neighboorhood's kids to be my pupils, I teach them couple days a week to check their homework, give them tests, something like that. Besides that, I like to buy presents for them when they get good results at school to encourage them. I just like kids, like to teach them, like to play with them!

As you are not doing this as profession, you like it and you find this interesting. But if it is the profession, then our responsibilities are different and we need to teach the same subjects to different students again and again and this need no preparation at all except for first one or two years. By the way please keep your work and dealing the child when they are few in number is the happiest thing. Thanks for your response.

I could see how being a lecturer might seem like a laid back profession, but teachers generally speaking, are hard working. Especailly at the elementary level. I almost lose my mind dealing with one or two little ones. Teachers todays sometimes have up to 30 little kids that they are supposed to teach and make sure they understand and learn. I think it's like any profession, though, it's up to you to make it interesting and fulfilling.

Apart from our discussion,I like to bring this for your kind information,In our country the number of students that the teachers are to handle is more that 60 or 70. As s lecturer I used to handled 90-100 students in a single class. As the strength is more, our most of the time will be wasting in controlling them and even if we try to teach them in innovative way , that may not be possible to do.Even then, the teachers are having time to spend other than teaching. Then see how much time they are spending for the preparation of subject..If they really prepare, then their working hours will not be sufficient for that. From that we can easily understand, they do not work hard.

I am a teacher. I've teaching in secondary school for nearly two years. I don't know what you mean by laziest profession or the most boring job. It's not like we go into class and just read out whatever the books said. We still need to do research and study starting any class. Besides, the joy come from different aspect, not just being promoted here and there.

I feels that we need not do work much in the preparation of materials for teaching as we have to teach the same thing again.Of course we need to have different teaching method and that too once in a year and this is not though one and here I don't degrade this profession and I feel this the most respectable one.I have handled different Engineering subjects for more than three years though I was allocated with the same. As I did not like to repeat the same,I chose different subjects. But as the subjects are limited, I lost my interest in this profession. Thanks for your response.

I certainly don't agree with you that teachers do not work hard. If you wanted the best for your students you'd definitely go the extra mile to make them comprehend the relevant concepts. I've known teachers who prepare for lectures/classes by working extremely hard.

Teaching the same thing again and again don't need hard work at all and also to teach them with different way is not that much harder as we are not changing the way of teaching every day. Once in a year we need to change our way of teaching. Is it so difficult? If we need to elementary students, then it may be hard to manage the child and that too not the subjects. Thanks for your response.

I LOVE Teaching! I have taught my children for over 11 years. They do go to public school, but learning doesn't stop there! I had 3 that couldn't start right away, so I became a teacher here at home! I also teach them in the summer so they don't loose 6 months worth of growth just because it's summer. I absolutely LOVE teaching! I wanted to do this since I was a little one. Great discussion!

Well.parents are our first teachers and the child are learning most of the thing from their parents only. As you are teaching your child, they used to promote every year to higher classes and hence their subject is changing and also you are teaching every year new things and subjects to them. But if you consider the profession of teaching, the necessity of preparing for new subjects is very much less and they have to teach the same thing again and again. If you need to teach the subject again to your younger child, which you taught last year to elder child, you need not prepare much as you did last year. Is it not? This makes this profession very boring. Thanks your response.

I just retired after teaching for 30 years. I taught high school art and social studies. Teaching is not an easy profession, but it can be hugely rewarding. I loved my job.I enjoy teenagers and do a fairly descent job relating to them. But you are not just a teacher, you are also a counselor, a co-parent, sometimes a glorified baby sitter, and given a huge responsibility. If you love kids, and the subject matter you will teach then go for it. But be prepared to be challenged. Keep a sense of humor and don't take student anger personally...it comes from other places. Be prepared to honestly want to help your students, not just stuff information into their heads. Depsite what you hear, young people do want boundries set up and they do want to learn...they will just make you sweat blood to do it sometimes. I loved my years in the classroom...and I had other jobs before I became a teacher at 30, so I had something to compare it to. Good luck

I used to deal more than 90 students from a single class and also 3 such classes in year. For one of the classes I was the adviser which involved maintaining the all the academic records of them. Apart from that, I used to deal with each and every one of them personally and with their family though this was not my duty. I paid attention to their personal issues and concentrated on them individually and I used to get more than 93% result for the whole three years.Even then,as the number of subjects were limited there and as I did not like to teach the same subject again, I resigned the job .Without interest, we can not be a good teacher. Thanks for your advice, which will be very much helpful to the young teachers who entered the profession very recently.Experience is the best teacher.
