Ice in the Freezer

OK, this may seem like a really silly question, but do you keep ice in the freezer at home? I very rarely do because I have a small freezer and I just don't have the room. Not only that, but I don't keep sodas in the fridge either. LOL I know, I'm weird. When some of my friends stop by, they always jokingly complain that they have to drink warm soda or water. Today we had ice in the fridge for once, and one of my friends said, "Ha, it's about time, I think I'm going to hit the floor!" I guess I think I am weird because I notice that everyone always has ice in their freezer. I think I may be the only one I know who doesn't. LOL

Hi princess, I go one further than ice cubes in the freezer, I have bottles of water in the freezer all the time in summer so I can grab one when we got outdoors and guarantee that my bottle of ice will stay cold for a few hours. Without it a normal bottle of cold water will be hot within ten minutes if it's next to me in the car. All the ice cube trays are actually filled with herbs at the moment, mainly mint, which we picked wild just before it got too hot and dried up for the summer. Then I can just throw a mint ice cube into a glass of water (from the fridge) and add a refreshing taste to a cold drink. It's been well over 100 degrees for the last few weeks hence the necessity.

Hi Sandra, you'll be okay here then for ice, as long as you don't mind mint in your vodka.

Hello, Thea. I keep small bottles of water in the freezer too, a friend in Spain put me onto that one. I NEVER run out of ice for my vodka. I've even trained my motorcaravanning friends to bring ice to the rallies with them. I wouldn't say I'm a fickle friend, but the best way to really upset me is to offer me a warm vodka and lemonade.

I have an ice maker in my fridge so I never have to worry about making ice. But I think if I didn't have this I would make Ice I love it in my drinks. I can't stand a warm drink, plus I like crunching on the ice

Now if I had an ice maker attached to my freezer, I would definitely be more of an ice user, as that wouldn't take up any space that I may need. You know, my best friend has an ice maker too, and when I am there I do put ice in my drink, which is funny because I had never thought of it before, using ice at her house that is.

i've got loads of ice in my freezer. the weather in my country is so warm that we need cold drinks most of the time. i cannot imagine not having ice available. most times i keep my sodas in the fridge too. in order to do that, i've got two fridges at home.

i usually do during dry season when the weather is hot. now it is wet season. i don't any more. but i still drink col drink. i just store water on fridge to make it cold enough to drink but not to have an ice. i rarely make ice now. as i am happy with just plain cold water. i do put juices on ref and sodas on the fridge but i put them on the lower section of the ref when it is cold enough so that it will not going to solid ice for me to drink. as we know that liquid gets colder faster on the freezer. and so when i am in hurry to have a cold drink . i put my pitcher of water , other juices insde fridge for some minutes like 30 minutes.

I do that too-if I am in need of a cold drink right now, I stick my glass filled with whatever I want to get cold in the freezer and give it about 20 minutes, and then it is cold enough for my liking! I guess I have just gotten accustomed to drinking things warm that it really doesn't pahase me at all that we hardly ever have ice on hand.

I rarely use ice, so I never have it in the freezer. Some people use ice daily, but I may use it once a year, if that. I usually make it once a year and most of it just evaporates. Yes, exposed ice will eventually disappear. I do keep pop in the fridge after it is opened just to make sure it keeps for a while. I actually drink a lot of iced tea, only the occasional pop, but I have got a taste for them warm. When they are warm they are really sweet, and I crave sweet occasionally. Manufacturers put in lots of sugar so you will still taste some when the beverage is cold, so when it is warm it is super sweet. If you want ice and cold drinks, do not come to my house either. We would get along quite well in the ice and soft drink departments, even I do have a decent sized fridge.

I have 4 ice cube trays in my freezer, and we use them all the time. My husband likes to have the things that he drinks cold. I like to drink water at room temp. so i never add ice to it.

I don't have any room for ice trays in my freezer because I am one of those people who always have a stocked freezer. (When shopping, I tend to load up on sale items, and I always like to have a variety of meat on hand for dinners.) If we ever have ice in the fridge, which is rare, we pick up a bag of crushed ice from the store. It lasts a while, but I don't miss it when it's gone because it takes up a lot of space-LOL.

I like to have ice in the freezer, however, my wife doesn't. I have to make sure the trays are refilled, or we run out. I like ice in my soda.

We don't have ice in our freezer either, but that is because we put the drinks directly inside the fridge. We don't have that much stuff to put inside the fridge anyway since my MIL goes to the wet market almost everyday, its very near our place. I also do not like putting ice in my drinks because it eventually gets this watered down taste after the ice has already melted.

my roomie used to live with a gal who would take her sodas out of the fridge to put her own in - so she got used to drinking them warm - and they never had ice - the fridge was always jammed with lefter over take out that went bad before that other roommate ate it.

Yes I always keep ice in the freezer at all times. I used to have those ice trays where you just freeze water and there's your ice, but i seemed to have misplaced those. So now I just buy a huge bag of ice and try to squish it into my tiny freezer. I never keep drinks in the freezer of refridgerator, because there is never any room, so i usually just buy a lot of can pops in a box, and put them on the floor out of the way.

Not a silly question either. Since my husband and I don't drive, we tend to buy lots of grocceries in one trip, and stock up for an entire month, thus filling our little tiny freezer to the brim. We have to do some pretty fancy packing to get everything to fit in there. So we don't have room for ice, either.
