Like a lot of people I am scared of the dentist. I know i will need at least one filling.. and it has been put off for 4 years because I was either pregnant or breast feeding so i couldnt get the drugs/xrays needed. Well Guess there is no more putting it off this time.. *cringe* On the plus side, i wont have any extra kids tomorrow! It'll be my 3 year olds first actual cleaning and stuff too.. and hubby goes too. I hope getting his dentures fixed up is covered by our insurence.. Friends, Compationate people, I need words of encouragement!! I do not like green eggs and ham i do not like them sam i am. i do not like them with a fox i do not like them in a box, i will not eat them here or there, i will not eat them anywhere!! *twitch*

I also HATE the dentist. I have tmj and they always make it worse for weeks after. Last time I went, I got my sister to drive me and I took half a anxiety pill. Next time I will take the whole thing. Also, a lot a dentists let you have laughing gas, but I have never had that. You should ask if it is an option.

Irish, thanks. I will look in to it. I have been to the acupuncturist but that isn't something I can do on my own. I have also tried acupressure points but that didn't work for me. I have been afraid of the chiropractor and have never tried because I didn't think I could relax enough. It might be worth a try though, I didn't know they could help with anything besides the back.

Well I am not afraid of the dentist! LOL...I don't know about yours...but mine has pretty pictures right in front of the chair......so I stare at it and try to get lost in it and close my eyes and imagine myself lost in the picture! So buck up little one! Times to go off to dream land and leave the dentist to do his job while you pack up your imagination and go off somewhere beautiful!

a filling isn't that bad, really. last time i went,i had to have an abcess drained that extended from the roof of my mouth right into my sinuses. ...although even that didn't hurt as much as the bill.

I'm scared of the dentist, too. I found a wonderful dentist, though, that knows just how to give the novacaine and is very patient with me. Maybe you need to change dentists? It's never as bad as we think it will be!

My uncle is a dentist whom working in the center hospital of my hometown. In my memory, that's my 7 yeas old, there were four tooth should be removed. At that time, my uncle was on business trip and he had assigned another dentist to help me. But when I sat down the chair, that dentist told me that he would give me three injections. I just faint at that moment and run away immediately. lol...

I hate the dentist too! I've been putting off making an appointment because I hate it so much. My mom went to the dentist yesterday and she needs a root canal! Scary! I'm pretty sure I have a cavity so I should go. My mom says I should make the appointment before any cavities I have might get deeper and stuff. I hope all goes well for you tomorrow at the dentist!

Sorry to hear that! It's not a lot of fun! I don't like the novocain but I can live with it. Its usually the numbing that last a long time that bothers me. I just don't like that feeling!

You know... i have a friend that avoid going to the dentist for over 2 years already, she is been in pain, and i am affraid that she gets deeply sick, because she is taking alot of painkillers and now going to the strongest pills to take off the pain, i was in the same situation though, well that's how we did meet by the way... we both had a lowsy teeth pain, for 6 months we did shared pain killers, until one day i got really poorly and went to the doctor.. it was the best thing i did, nothing to be scared of...it took my pain away in 2 days... now... my friend she didnt went... cause she has this fear... but at the same time because of the pills she is taking for so long... she may have liver problems... and it was something that she could solve in a few days... I think you should go to the dentist. It's a few hours to cut off the pain forever.... how much money do you spend in pills to kill the pain and attacking other parts of your body? I am glad i did went to the dentist, if i knew it would be that easy i would of gone sooner. So no more painkillers and i do feel wonderfull. GO TO THE DENTIST... you only have something to lose there... the PAIN!!Plus.... the mouth in each person invitation card.

hello Sissygrl, Whether we like it or not we need to have our dental check-up at least twice a year. This way, we can maintain our teeth with zero tooth decay. Wow! your three year old need not to worry about it for dentist/s is/are friendly expecially at that age. Regarding with the denture of your hubby, the insurance will pay for it.

hi sissygrl ouch and ouch again better you than me. I can twitch just thinking about the needle. that long needle'that the dentist comes at you with, this will just be a little prick. oh yeah says who. I hate hate hate going to the dentist and my teeth show it now as i have a lot of dental work that needs to be done. fear of dentists along with shortage of money has kept me from getting needed care. but if you can quote GreenEggs and Ham you will do just great and once the big needles done with you should feel no pain at all.You will be find sissygrl I guarantee it.

hahaha thanks hatley. . The money thing is a problem for us too, but we have coverage again now thank goodness with hubbys job. now my eyes, that's really where i've been slacking.. the dentist does direct billing to the insurence.. and the optomitrist doesn't.. so you got to pay up front and then they mail you back the money.. i never have that much extra money floatin around in my account!

Its bad to put off the dentist for so long because now there's a lot more for him to do and a lot more that can hurt. Basically, just don't think about anything when you go and don't count the minutes till you finish. Go in and get it over and done with and don't leave anything for another time. Do it all now. You don't want repeats.

I think I'd hate to go to the dentist now too. I don't take care of my teeth as good as I should, and I know several should be pulled out! Ahhh! I want to get braces, but we don't have insurance yet. One of many reasons why I am mylotting and looking for a job! lol! Well I'm assuming you've done been to this dentist, so I can't say good luck... lol... but I hope it wasn't as bad as you originally thought.

Hi ya Sissygrl Wow how weird, I was just thinking of that book just yesterday. Dr Suess (however you spell his name) are not so popular here in the UK and I loved reading them to the little girl I looked after when I worked over in the States as a nanny. Anyway, dentist, tomorrow, you'll be fine, don't worry, put on a brave face for your daughter and you'll be just fine

Good luck! Just think how much better it will be once you have the filling, though! Like when I had to have my wisdom teeth out. It was terrifying as, and painful like nothing else but it was all for the better because I'd have suffered so much more pain if they hadn't taken it out. I mean, they wouldn't be giving you a filling if you didn't need it, right?

I'm not scared of the dentist, but it is not a pleasurable experience, so I too avoid going. I'm not sure that I need any fillings and nothing seems too out of the ordinary, but I haven't been in almost 10 years. Mostly I don't go because of lack of insurance and when I did have insurance I was pregnant. Hopefully all went well for you.
