I have had a couple. I have had my gallbladder removed, sinus surgery, and my last was a c-section to deliver my youngest. Anyone else?

A partial...does that mean they took the uterus? My mom had to have a complete hysterectomy when she was 41. It made me nervous. I'm 28 and now I feel like I need to pop out a kid or I'll lose whatever ability I have to give birth to a child someday. Silly, but that is where my mind goes sometimes.

Ambie I'm not sure what it entails exactly either. But there's usually a medical reason for it. Did your mom ever tell you why she had to have the surgery? That would give you an idea as well as your OBGYN of it happening to you.

A partial hysterectomy is called an oopharectomy which means they took an ovary and not the uterus. Been there on that along with 2 c-sections, appendix, removal of a tumor on my finger and 5 ankle surgeries.

I had a benign tumor removed from my abdomen last March. No c-section for my son, but I did have to get stitches.

Only once many moons ago. It got to where I copuldn't even hold an empty glass in my left hand. So I went to a specialist as my Dr suggested it. Turned out I had bone spurs on tendons and nerves that put pressure on them making them very weak. I had the spurs removed and it has not occured since. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I thought bone spurs only occured in your feet. I guess you learn something new every day.

The spurs were due to a broken wrist I suffered as a child that never healed fully. The broken bone from the wrist rubbed the nerve causing a build up of the marrow/calcium I was told, thus creating the spurs. I broke that arm in 4 spots horsing around as a child. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Oh wow. I hope it wasn't too painful to get it taken care of. Crazy how something from so long ago can affect you as an adult.

I had twice in the same spot. First, I had a cisti removed in my left leg, a little under my knee, but when they discovered that it was cancer they operated again, to eradicate it. now I have a pretty nice scar of 15 stitches. It happened one year ago

I have controls three times a year, and everithings seems to be ok. Its true that we never know where it could happen. I actually thought it was an emathoma, because I hit the very same point agaist a chair a few years before, and it started hurting ever since. The doctor told me it happened in many cases that the cancer started from some kind of trauma. This doesn't mean everytime we bump into something wi will get cancer! My desease was actually a very rare one. Tnx for posting

Very interesting! I fell last year down a couple of my basement steps and landed on my knee onto concrete and that hurt for months anytime something touched it.

I hope everything is fine since discovering it was cancer. Never know where that nasty ol' cancer will show up do we?

I had a tonsillectomy, cosmetic surgery on my upper arm to fix a 2nd degree burn from a car wreck, and back surgery. However, the back surgery, while they cut me open slightly, does not qualify as an all out open you up kind of thing in my opinion. It's terribly painful, but not an all out surgery, even if they do call it surgery.

Only 2 so far. I had my gall bladder removed as well, then a couple months ago I needed surgery to remove an ectopic pregnancy, and while the doc was in there he removed both of my tubes. I'm sure I have plenty more surgeries to look forward to in my life!

I don't know that I'd want to look forward to any further surgeries in my lifetime. But I know what has to be done has to be done to keep going forward.

Yeah not looking forward to the getting older thing either. Somedays I already feel like an old lady. I swear I feel like every pregnancy sucked a lil bit more of life out of me & yet they keep ya going at the same time.

Nobody said you had to be excited about the idea, but every one of us is looking forward to surgeries in our future... they WILL happen as we get older.

I've had my tonsils out when I was very young and also had my spleen repaired when it was damaged in a cycle accident. Then c-sections with my two sons. The scar from the accident is crossed by the C-section scars and up until recently I could look down and see a cross! A hysterectomy later on and just this past May I had my appendix out--that wasn't pleasant as the incision became infected and took a lot of messy care on my part. It also ruined my scars that formed a cross but at least I don't have to worry about appendicitis anymore!

I"m glad you were able to get that infection taken care of that was one of my biggest worries after having my c-section being a bigger gal the odds are higher for it to become infected.

Hi snugglebunnies, I 've actually had two in the last ten years to remove discs from the top of my spine which were causing intense pain, not a lot of fun at all as it actually invloved having my throat cut open twice. Luckily on both occassons, once in the UK and once in Greece, the surgeons were most excellent at wielding the needle and left almost invisble scars, so even though the operatios were not a resounding success at least I don't have to walk aroung brandishing unsightly scars. But never, never again.

That sounds painful. I imagine you had problems with eating & maybe talking afterwards as well?

When I was four years old I had my tonsil out. So far that is the only surgery I have had to have.

I had a gall stone operation when I was 19. That is the only one surgery I have had and I do not want to have any more in future,so bad was my experience! The moment you regain your senses after the surgery is the worst I think when you feel a vomiting sensation and they will not even let you have water.
