There are times when we can't help but doze off, but what do you do when you NEED to stay awake? I could remember the times when we were in college and we were supposed to finish our research project. I was with my groupmates and one of us brought coffee, red bull and all sort of stuff to keep us up. In the end it was her who first dozed off earlier that should be. hehehe.. So, what do you do to keep yourself up?

for me laydee, I am used to slap my face up. I mean like slapping my whole face like what Sumo Wrestlers do. That keeps me awake and be concentrated in some of my works. If I try to lie down and when i am tired and sleepy, that's the end of the story, I'll go to sleep directly. That's why i control myself and slap my face to be awake all the time. Especially on class :D

Hello laydee,Well...when i need to stay awake, first i will take a bath to make my body fresh.Next is to drink coffee or any energy drink. Then find a way to do such things that can make my sleepiness away.for example clapping my hands or jumping jack.Good Luck!

Hi laydee Good to hear from you. Im glad that mylot is back to normal again. I know you are going to think that Im crazy when I tell you this but... When I need to stay awake or feel that sleepness coming over me at the wrong time, I can pop a strong mint in my mouth. I will then be alert again. I don't know what it is, unless it is the mint itself but it works for me. Have a nice day and keep smiling my friend.

Oh, hi there, I know how you feel, I've been dropping by mylot a lot to check if it's okay. I'm glad it's finally here again. Anyhow, I didn't know mint could keep someone up, thanks for the tip though. Unless of course my mouth starts to get numb with the strength of the mint hahaha.. Have a great day!

Hi laydee I don't why it works but it does. I was in group once and it was getting pretty boring. I started to yawn alot. To keep myself awake I started looking thru my purse and found a mint. I popped it in my mouth and the yawn didnt come back. Since then I have tried on several different occassions and it works for me...LOL.Have a great day and keep smiling.

if i have to finish something and i need to stay awake, what i should do is to take a bath. it refreshes me and keeps me up. sometimes, i wash my face and that awakens me. if drowsiness still makes its attempt, i drink coffee. the thought of a deadline, sometimes, just keeps me awake. lol

On contrary, whenever I take a bath before doing something, I tend to feel sleepy because I'd feel fresh and cold! hehe.. But heck if that works for you, then that would work for you. You're right, if one thinks about the deadline, surely that person would be awake. But if the mind is really tired and the will is not too strong, I think I would rather not be able to submit than to lose some sleep. I have noticed that with myself, there are times in college when I didn't care if I was able to study or not, as long as I tried but I'm just too sleepy to continue, then I'd rather sleep - I would be wasting my time keeping myself awake when my brain decides to sleep. hehehe.. Thanks for the response, have a great mylot experience ahead!

i am actually lucky that i don't need any food or drink just so i don't fall asleep.. the tension or the adrenalin rush of having to finish a certain task and the idea that you'll surely get punished if you don't finish that task is enough to make me stay up until i finally finish it.. i am never really used to drinking such energy drinks, etc and i know that if people aren't used to them, the effect would be reversed like what you said. instead of keeping you awake, you'll feel more tired and would rather seek rest

Actually we are the same, I can't seem to sleep until the job is finished, I usually could stay up straight 2 days, but the third day should be spent for long periods of sleep to recover.

yeah i agree..the ideal think to do after a long period of not sleeping is to sleep as much but they say that doing that is actually not a good idea because you'll feel weaker and more stressed because you are shocking your body. they say it would be better if you gradually change your habits. after a long period of not sleeping, it would be better if we try sleeping for a couple of hours first and gradually increasing the length. that way our body doesn't get too stressed and confused..that's what they say but i somethimes don't care lol..i just so love sleeping so much!!!

I just try to keep myself busy. Whenever I know I need to stay up, I snack on food, drink iced coffee and listen to music or watch tv so I can keep motivated and alert enough to stay awake. I've had to pull several all nighters during my college years and that was how I did it. I stayed as busy as I possibly could.

Put yourself in a position where you cannot fall asleep. I either sit down or start doing something or just don't ever lie down because then you'll be lost. It doesn't always work, however, sometimes I just sit there and drop off into sleep anyway.

Coffee or tea usually works for me. Maybe taking a short nap in the times like your refering to would help best. I always found it difficult to complete task like that while tired. Often while im playing sims3 and dont want to stop. I get sleepy and end up standing up to play because im falling asleep at the desk. At that point i figure i better just stop and go to bed. They will be there waiting when i return. They cant live without me.

Hi, laydee My instant energy boost has always been coffee. However, there are times that even caffeine cannot keep me awake. In cases like that, I really do not push it because I would not be very effective anyway. Instead, I take a nap for about 20 minutes. Or, if a nap is not enough, sleep the whole night and wake up early the next day. Cheers!

If I want to stay awake I will drink pepsi which has caffeine and then wash my face until the pepsi starts working. But usually if I drink a pop that has caffeine in it after 3pm ub the afternoon I will be up all night.

If I need to stay awake, automatically my body clock will go to sleep and I will remain awaken until I complete what I need to complete. That was in the past where the passion of completing it is high. lol. Nowadays, I prioritise. I try not to have last minute thingy that I need to be kept awake. I find that intensive exercise past 9 pm is good to make one awake past 2am.
