IT SNOWED! Now what do I do? Winter exercises?

I started losing weight recently. So far I've lost ten pounds and I'm trying so hard to continue to lose weight. It snowed the last couple of days and I am unmotivated and just don't want to go out in the cold to walk or ride bike. So - does anybody have any ideas (besides workout videos and simple crunches) of things I could do to continue my weight loss?

You can always work out more indoors. Try different kinds of videos and exercises that simulate outdoor activity. Get that boyfriend of yours to help out

I really wish I had a stationary bike or something. I'd be on that thing all the time. I have some Jillian Michaels DVDs but I did one 20 minute workout one day from one of them and couldn't bend my knees without it hurting for a week.

If your knees hurt after one workout there are two possibilities: 1) you didn't do enough stretching before and after your workout and 2) you didn't exercise properly and you put strain on a muscle. The problem with videos is that there is no one in the room with you to adjust your posture or make sure you are in the correctly aligned position you need to be in so as not to injure your self. When standing and exercising and beding the knees it is important to keep them aligned with the toes, for instance. Try step exercises from now on for cardio even if you just march in place. Get a jump rope the next time you go to work and put on some music and dance around. Richard Simmons didn't make all that money for no reason sweating to the oldies. You can also lie on your back and imitate the motion of riding a bike with your legs. That will take the weight and the pressure off of your knees.

Are you doing cardio or are you using equipment? I do body exercises....what I mean by that is that I use my body to help me gain muscle and lose weight.

I don't have any equipment but my bike and a couple of Jillian Michaels DVDs. Crunches never worked for me.

Shovel snow! Or build a snowman. Going outside in the cold will help weight loss even more than being out in the heat because our bodies burn calories keeping warm. It may seem uncomfortable at first, but if you're active outside, you'll be warm enough.

You said the "S" word. I would continue with the outside walking and/or running exerices. Its good to get the blood flowing. Its better on the legs as well. Uses more muscles when you walk in snow. Creates natural tension walking in the snow. Keep it up girlfriend! Just wear warmer clothes. dl

hi crazyredhead yes get yourself an indoor exercycle and ride it for thirty or forty five minutes a day that will give you aerobic exercising that will help lose weight. I did that for awhile then went and gained the darned weight all back. got to start over now myself. I do sit on the edge of my bed and do leg lifts and arm lifts to keep my blood glucose balanced and in the right place. ah the life of a diabetic.he he he

Congrats on your weight loss! i have also recently begun to lose weight and am unmotivated when its cold. granted, its 60 degrees here and nowhere near snowing but it is cold enough to make me unmotivated. Have you considered joining a gym?

Walking in the cold won't kill you. Put on a hat and scarf and get on out there. You'd be surprised how quickly you'll warm up and won't even realize the temperature is as low as it is. It takes a few minutes to adjust, but once you get out there and get going, you'll be glad you did.

There are many things that you can do in the house, in fact even folding clothes and stuff burns calories, spend a whole day just going through cleaning everything, I have done that before. When it is raining outside I cant get out and do much, but I do however make sure that I am keeping myself busy all day long in the house. Even if I sweep, and mop all the floors.

Please take a look on the count of calories. If you can make it and balance the calories, then the body can maintain its balanced weight neither less or high.
