I guess many friends here may have such an experience. If you have children, then your house will be full of various toys and it seems difficult to keep it clean. Usually, if your house is large enough, designate a playroom for small children where they will have space to keep the toys confined and not spread through the whole house. But if they don't have enough space, what should you do if you have met such a situation too? So, do you have some experience on how to store the kids' toys and keep your house clean? Any tips on how to control the toy explosion that makes your house in a mass?

hi friend, i have two little kids, and they have so much toys overthere, i keep them into a big bag and keep a side of the kids room, just tell them to keep it back after playing the toys, i know they won't listen but, try to teach them slowing they will definetly now your words. if you have chess board or board games, small small parts over there keep them into one almarh it will be safe. and the kids won't confuse which part is in which place, day by day i had experienced a lot about this. thankyou for the topic, have a nice day.

Keeping these toys into a big bag is really a wise way to save some space and keep the house clean. Of course, it is very necessary to help the kids form a habit of keeping these toys back after playing the toys. Thanks for your reply. Happy myLotting!

When we lived in a really small house I stored toys in boxes that fit under the beds, each child has a different colored box. Of course we were poor and they really didn't have many toys or even cloths at that time.

Sounds good. Although there are not so many toys at that time, it is very necessary to store these toys in boxes. Then, you put different colored box for each child, which is really a good idea to keep the house clean. Thanks for your reply.

In our family the moment a child is born we buy a big basin and keep the toys in that basin. Whenever the child wants to play, it takes only the toys that it wants to play and after playing we will put it again in the basin. So toys are not spread over the house. Big toys like tricycle, rocking horse etc. are either kept next to the basin or in a suitable place in the house.

Children can get lots and lots of toys and a house with kids in it can soon become a mess. My sister has four children and each of her kids have hundreds of toys. My oldest nephew had a sliding cupboard in his room when he was younger. It housed all his toys in many different boxes. These days my younger nephew and nieces have toys all over their lounge. I think the answer would be each child can keep 30 toys. They will be 10 toys in 3 boxes. These will be on a weeks rotation system. All toys must be put in the box before the child goes to bed. My toddler son is getting too many toys. I will do some clutter clearing soon. I bought a toy storage unit with nine colorful boxes. That is great for small toys storage like balls, Lego and toy animals. I have a problem of where to keep the larger toys. Christmas presents will be here next month. I hope to make room for the extra toys before they arrive on 25th December. Good luck with controlling your toy explosion.

My baby brother is 4 years old and we also had a problem tidying up all of his toys. he has been collecting tons of them since birth and there are abround 2-3 new ones every month so imagine how many are there already.. :( What we did was buy those plastic containers and store the toys in them making sure that the toys at the bottom are the ones least likely to be searched by him. We keep the new ones and the nice ones on the topmost of the piles just so we would not take time digging up the whole pile just to look for them. a lot of the nice ones like the diecast cars are displayed so they dont get ruined when piled up. Displaying the large and good ones will also keep them in good condition and easier to look for. Basically, we just really have to make sure that we know where each and every toy is because we'll never know which one the child will look for. Keeping the all together will minimize the hard time of having to search the whole house just to find it. also, teach the child to return the stuff he had taken from the boxes so he or she would know where it was specifically located and to minimize clutter too. :D

Try this......If you have a garage, or somplace you can store things, take all those toys he just doesn't play with and store them there. 4 year olds have a slightly longer memory than 2 year olds, but this shouold work. Store old toys for a month or two, then, instead of buying new ones, periodically bring the old, stored ones back out. It's kind of like getting a new toy, but without the expense. Also, about the best toy you can get a little boy is a great big cardboard box. The box can become anything his little imagination creats it to be. A house, log cabin, car, space ship, anything.

That is true. It is really a problem on keepinthe kid's toys. My child is still 15 months old. She really spreads her toys everywhere, from the bedroom to the living room even the kitchen. What I did is that I bought a very big basket and I made up a game with her like we will have a contest on keeping as many toys in the basket so when I say "I spot a toy under the table or somwhere" she would run to it and I would pretend that I am also after of the toy then when she get it she would right away put in in the basket and shout "I won"... I have done this for a month already and it really work. It would lessen on your time keeping the toys in one place for your child is already helping you. then when everything is already in the basket, put the basket on one side where it would not look messy then that's it.

If you have room under their beds then i would get some small cardboard boxes that will go under the bed or cut them so that they are low enough so that they can slide under the bed to put their toys in.Maybe get a few tus that stack so they can all be stored together, this is what i have done.

Hi.I think,it's normaly to have house that could not be "clean" everyday for people who have kids. But,maybe you need to train your kids to cleared up their toys after playing. It's eduaction for them to responsibility and make our work easy. But,maybe you can choose the toys who still right and good condition for them.Or you try to introduce them to love book.I try to make limit for my son to have toys and choose education toys.and I like to teach them to love book.

I have one of those large plastic container and the toys are kept in it. When my granddaughter was younger I would help her pick up the toys and put them in the container when she was done play. When she got older she was use to putting them in the container so that is what she did when she was done playing.

Hi Getbrowser, Nice discussion you have there. For kids, they will never get enough with their toys. Once they see something new, they will sure sure want to buy and buy! LOL. For my kids, they like toys so I have bought many toys for them. I admit the toys at home now is too many and more ever we have receive more and more hand me down toys from my nephew and niece to my kids. I try to buy those bigger storage box now so all the toys can dump in n wouldn't get mess up the house. Mean time, I need to to get some old and unuse toys for donation or recycle. And I always restrict my kids to play with too many toys at one time. Some times, instead of playing they just throwing! So I have to keep my eyes on them. When they finish playing they will need to keep the toys themselves.

I wish I knew the answer - hee hee. It seems as if a tornado hits our place every hour - so there's almost no point in cleaning up - ha ha. We are having another baby soon, so actually we are trying make room for the baby's stuff. This means we are having to condense the stuff we have now - it's a tough job!! We have a rather small place - so it has been a challenge. We are finding that bigger storage pieces help more than a bunch of small containers and bins. We just got 4 huge bookshelves with doored cabinets on the bottom half - and that has helped greatly. It looks less cluttered! We took our old smaller bookshelves and put them at the bottom of my daugther's closet. Then we could organize her games, and other boxed type toys. We also got bins for her dance/pretend play dresses, hats, and purses. Also, our daughter is now 4 . . . we try to have her clean up her own stuff. Often she can't find what she's looking for, so we're trying to get her into the habit of putting things back in a specific place . . . that way she can always find her stuff. Like arts and craft supplies . . . we set up a table specificially for it - got one big, plastic drawer set to keep her papers, markers, crayons, etc. If everything in the house can have a special place to go to, then it seems like the house can be kept organized. But I should eat my words . . . it's not like my place is sparkling clean - hee hee!

I don't have any kid yet, but I live with my aunt who has 2 little girls. Those girls have plenty of toys. When they're playing, toys are all over the house. My auntie use a lot of containers to store their toys, and taught the kids to place the toys inside containers when they're not playing with them. I think she managed quite well. The house always look clean and not messy when the kids aren't playing.

when our girls were small we had shelves in their rooms with pictures of the item inside (so that if they cant read, they can still put toys away!) and that worked quite well and the rule was, if they wanted a new toy out, the last one HAD to be put away!

I had a nice basket in every room where the kids could put their toys. Sometimes they would play in their rooms, sometimes in the living room or any other room in the house--usually where I was! I did not want to discourage their wanting to be around others in the family, especially me, so I got a basket for each room and when they were done with a toy it went into the basket. It was a good solution for me and my children.

this is the most difficult part when you have childrens we really find very difficult to keep the house clean and we just can hardly manage to do that. even i have a child and going to deliver a second baby may be by this month end. i can really understand your consition and also the situation for whichyou trying to find the answer but it very hard to find one. if we think that a separate room or a seate space for children and their toys where they can play then it is also a bad idea to doas childrens alwys bring their toys to the place where their parents are and then spead it and play there, i had a separate room for my child and his toys but then too he brings all his toys to the living room and play there as i useto spend most of my time at the living room and also he ueto get some of his toys to the ktchen when i am there at kitchen and children usually spread their toys all around and play and always tying to pickup all toys and cleaning home is really difficult.

Keeping toys organized is no easy task. In many houses the playroom would have to be bigger than the rest of the house, especially when doting grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. are involved. There's only so many tables, shelves and boxes to keep everything in. When my son was growing up, I found an old hammock which I suspended in the corner of his room. He used it to store sports equipment and other toys that were larger, but didn't weigh a lot. It helped to organize the rest of what he had. Then before each gift giving event, like his birthday or Christmas, he was told to go through his toys to select the ones he no longer wanted to give to charity. That instilled a good habit too. Between both methods we managed to keep the mess to an acceptable level.

The problem with my children's toys has always been the small stuff. My daughter's Littlest Pet Shops and now my son's Hotwheels and their Little People for both of them. There was a time that no matter where you walked there were little pieces all over the house. The thing that we've done to try to keep this problem under control was to buy each of them one of the three drawer plastic containers to keep these toys in. This keeps them off of the floor so that it doesn't kill our feet and it also allows the children to know where they are as long as they remember to keep them picked up.
