Don't you just hate it when you miss calls from unknown numbers?

I have been missing calls from this 'blocked' number. I get these calls maybe once in a few days. I have a friend who says not to worry, if the person wants to get you badly enough, they will call again. However, these days most calls are from a listed number. so even if that number is not in your database as an identifiable friend, at least you can call back and ask if someone had called. however, if the number is listed as 'blocked' or 'unknown', there is no way you can tell or call that person back to find out what the call was about. it just annoys me somewhat. have you gotten missed calls from unknown numbers? does it annoy you?

I don't even pick up on calls that are blocked. Why? well, there is usually a reason why they block their number. They are almost always telemarketers or bill collectors or someone of that nature. The little scam artists also block their numbers. Your friend is right. If it is someone that really wants to talk to you then they will call back.

But You need to be paying Your phone service provider extra each month for a Caller ID service on your phone to find out that it's a blocked number in the first place, right?

I hate it too; should I get calls from unknown numbers. There's no way of detecting, I'm afraid and if it is really bothersome, perhaps you should consider changing to a new number. Sometimes I wish I could block unknown numbers from calling my cell unnecessarily too..

I have an answering machine hooked to my landline phone in case I'm out or to deter cold callers..My friends and family all have my cellphone #,so I'm not usually missing anything..(but you DO like to know what You're missing, right?!)It seems to work,as most callers won't wait for the robot message to finish playing before hanging up..but it's those that do wait to leave a "message" that puzzles me..I get maybe 15 seconds of call centre background chatter,or some eejit calling "Hello...Hello...Hello.." without giving any info as to the nature of the call so that I might feel inclined or able to reply to the call (IF it wasn't a blocked Number!!) So,When I get to trawl through my missed calls to hear that kind of irrelevant and uncommunicative noise, with no indication of who or why they called in the first place, and no way of replying or complaining,I find it annoying, but I don't miss having not been there to have to listen to it in the first place!

Sometimes I am not able to reply to a call. And I totally hate receiving calls from unknown numbers for that reason. If I am unable to answer, I can simply call back later. If someone hides his number when calling, than its his problem not mine.

At first I was annoyed, but now I am used to it.If I have any miss call and the number is unknown.I just wait until the person calls back again. If it is really important that person will call you if not the person will leave you a voice message.

Yes, it's very very annoying. Once when I was in the shower, my cell phone rang and my wife picked it up. When I press the 'answer', on the other side was cut off. And there is no phone number listed in there, hidden number. Then, a few seconds later, my phone rang again, and I immediately answered. Apparently, a telemarketing a bank wants to offer me to make a credit card. In disgust, I replied "Sorry, you have the wrong number!" then I shut down, and immediately I select mode 'silent'.

It gets on my nerves when people call and they hang up without leaving me a message. Most of those people are telemarketers. I feel if it is important enough, they will leave a message for me to call them back.

Yes you're right! it was a telemarketeer! I just found out today when I picked up a call from a blocked number and it was a lousy bank that had given my details to some insurance agent.

YEah, i hated such calls too!! Especially when i'm in a rush or not convenient to pick up the calls, i need to know know the callers are, so that i can call them back.. BUt there are times, the caller only called once, or always called at the wrong timing, before 'accusing' us of not entertaining their calls, whenever they called.. lol =D

Yes they drive me nuts. I always wonder if it was something even slightly important KWIM? But as your friend had said if it's important they will call back. Or to me if it's important they will leave a message stating they will or you should call them back. That's the one stinky thing about caller ID, you don't always know...

well, in my country both the caller and the receiver has to pay, so the receiver doesn't save money.

Personally, I hate it when I do get number that's blocked or unknown. Because, then I can't tell if it's a telemarketer until it's to late.

I hate it too. But i will never call back bacause maybe it is a scam. I have called back a number unknown and automatically paid for something. So if I miss some calls, i will never call back. If the person wants to get in touch me,she/he will call again or it maybe a scam.I will just let it go. Happy mylotting.

I get missed calls all of the time. Some from blocked numbers. I have a few friends who chose to block their number, and know if they miss me, they can leave a message because chances are I have that number. However if I miss a blocked call that is from someone I don't know, they will eaither leave a message or they won't. If they don't then I know it wasn't meant for me, or it was some computerized telemarketing system trying to sell me something. So in short, missing an unknown call doesn't bother me.

Its just not unknown numbers. we get these calls from some companiesasking us to buy insurances etc etc. You know you dont have to answer those calls and even you dont pick up the call they will keep calling us ntil we lift the phone which is very irritating. Though we have our number in DO NOT CALL LIST we still get these calls. Wonder what to do with them.....

Hi. I have customized my cellphone settings not to accept calls from unknown numbers or numbers not listed in my contact lists. I believe that if the call is important, the caller would send me a text message identifying himself and informing me of the purpose of his call. This is the very reason why I send a text message first before calling anybody for the first time. I always introduce myself first and ask the recipient when is the best time to call him/her. I also mention the purpose or reason why I want to talk to him/her.

yes that's great. just that if they are telemarketeers they will always block their numbers.

to be honest it doesn't really bother me that much. I too have the feeling of if its important they'll ring again. although sometimes i get unknown numbers that i answer and its just my mates anyways that are in my contacts. i don't now why, maybe my phone's messed up or something. But it is annoying when you can't ring them back because it doesn't show their number and you don't know who it is :)

Yeah, I don't like when I check my phone and see that someone called and I don't know who it is. Sometimes I call back but sometimes I just forget about it.

Hello, how to block a number, please tell me? Because I too get so many miscalls in my cell phone. They fall under three category, some are from known friends, relatives, they are in my list, i usually call back and talk, some are known, but i would prefer to call as cheats, they don't want to spend their money, but want you to call back, i normally don't call back Thanks for sharing. Welcome always. Cheers.

As I am in a moment in my life I don't expect calls from unknown numbers I don't have a problem with it.If it was just a friend who wanted to tell me he had changed his number he will try again later. The important thing is if you are trying to find a job let's say and missing a call may mean missing an opportunity.
