Spying neighbors

Well some of my neighbors seam to want to know literally everything that goes on on my block of flats. I mean here is an example: my brother just recently got a new kitty, and he doesn't even live here anymore, and was just visiting, and now yesterday my below neighbor's husband told me that he heard i have a nice cat from his wife... Well i think all this spying around all day might be due to the fallen communist regime that they lived in, when they probably were informants. So, do you have spying neighbors ? How bad are they ? Is this just happening in my country ? Share your thoughts.

My neighbors aren't nosy but we all know what major events are going on. We notice when someone gets a new car or has someone move in with them, who is ill and needs help, we all know the kids that walk to school at least by sight and watch out for them. I don't have any spying neighbors but that's not to say I won't as about half the houses here are rentals. Some people just need to get a life of their own instead of living their neighbors'!

Well my dear Dragon, what you are saying I think is NORMAL, i mean that is an o.k. kind of information that should travel along the neighborhood, but like you said some should GET A LIFE, instead of trying to know any and everything about others.

hiii elitess This is common here in my building as we are hardly 6 members here in building and every one here come to know if some one has affair with someone, who bought new car and who had fight with family members. There are many members who are expert in guessing in whats cooking in our kitchen just from smell. They even do ask us if they were correct in their guess. My neighbor is nosy and every time i open door he straight try to look in to our home to know whats going on.

I so know what you mean. We have one neighbor who walks around just as it is getting dark and anyone who has on their lights she tries to peer in the windows. I mean she actually stops and cranes her head to look in, even walks up the driveways sometimes to get a better look. She stopped looking in our windows because after about 8 years of asking her to stop my husband just mooned her one night out of aggravation. I know another neighbor called the cops and pressed charges for her being a peeping Tom. We also have another one who loves to get into everyone's business and usually asks around about everyone.

Some are like that, they want to know everything happens in the next door. I donot know what they will get with it, i feel they are wasting their valuable time like this. Even we too have such kind of persons. Okey let them enjoy their weakness.

some people have the tendency to sneek and know whats going on in others apartment . So if i was you i would have done the same to them and ask them does sneeking looks good . but if its gone out of the boundaries i think you should ask them to change behaviour or you change your house.

I am sure we do but they never kind of got on to me. I mean, i hardly talk to people who are poking and spying kind. They talk behind my back and my mom is a sweet heart she makes it up for me. Having said that, preoccupations and the busy life styles have made people so busy that even if they want to spy around they can't. Good for us.

I think it is the same everywhere. It is only human nature to be curious and always trying to know what is happening to their neighbors. But again it depends on where you live. In urban housing estates the residence are more reserved and they careless what is happening to their next door neighbors. While those who live in villages are quite busybody. They are always on the alert and they seem to set their antenna high to see what is happening to their surrounding neighbors.

hi elitess that really does not sound like spying to me,just a way for your below neighbor's husband to break the converstional ice. why would it be spying in that your brother had nothing to hide just buying a kitty. No I do not have spying neighbors as we all live in our own rooms here at Gold Crest and if anything not too many are all that friendly so which would you have someone who never ever acknowledges you exist or someone who wants to be friendly? NO my neighbors do not spy on each other but do sometimes try to make conversation and that's not wrong. I think you are overreacting here myself. In my country sometimes it takes time to get to know your neighbors and get to be friendly with them.

She's a nice lady but she's just nosy. We had another one but she had to go in the nursing home so the one next to me has to do it all now.lol. I would just ignore it if i could.

So you think that their time as fallen communist regime informants has rubbed off on their life here? It sounds funny but I can see it being possible that their spying has become a habit and they have developed the habit of being over observant. It would be quite annoying I would imagine. We have lived in our house for ten years and everyone in our street is pretty good at keeping to themselves. Phew!

I live in village in the countryside, and people are quite nosy around here. I have lived in a big city most of my life and I am not used to living at a place where people talk so much about eachother. There are a few people in my neighbourhood who are especially nosy, and one of the men seems to be spying on us. He has got lots of time and he spends most of the time playing a policeman. When someone breaks a rule for instanse by parking a car outside the parking lot, he is the first person to point it out. If a dog is barking a little too much he immediately complains etc.

Having grown up on a farm in Ohio prying eyes were not an issue but when Liz and I came to Atlanta in 1987 we found out just how nosy folks can be. We were the management team at a small sandwich/yogurt establishment in downtown Atlanta. Unfortunately, the owner was too cheap to offer 'Christmas' to his lesser employees so Liz and I had the crew over to the house for our own celebration. The next day all the concerned neighbors came out of the woodwork wanting to know 'Who those black people were?!'. At another place we stayed (in Hapeville) we were told flat out by our elderly neighbor that she '..had the right to know! Afterall it was HER neighborhood and we were ONLY renters!' Similar incidents have occurred in the past 22 years and I've come to the conclusion that the only people who deserve any privacy are those peeking thru their blinds..Enjoy!

Well, I wouldn't call it 'Spying', but definitely nosy. I have a neighbour who knows everything that's happening in my street. She would stop some of our workers and started chatting them up, probably to know more about us so she can relay the information to everyone on the street. That doesn't make her a bad person, but definitely annoying.

Personally when we used to own the Condo that we sold almost 2 yrs. ago we had to put up with a Spying neighbor, and it about drove us crazy. It was unreal. She was always looking out, and knew everything about everyone. Even when I would get home from somewhere at like 1 or 2 a.m. she would be looking out, and say I am just checking on my cats. She knew everything and it really drove us crazy. She did not work so I guess there was nothing better for her to do?

Hi elitess, It happens everywhere , in every country and city.people are naturally curious and want to know what their neighbors are doing etc; It can be very irritating but it has its advantages too....In my city my cousin sister had some very curious and nosy neighbors who wanted to know about everything that went on in her house. Once when they were away on a holiday, some suspicious looking guys were surveying the house and generally showing a lot of interest and the neighbor promptly called the police and had the house patrolled until my cousin sis and her family returned. they were extremely thankful ..But she continues to be nosy and irritating, one cant have perfection ...all the best and happy mylotting

I pretty much think all neighbors are very nosey.Where I live they are, they just don't seem to mind their own business.I'm the type of person that like to keep to myself.I'm very sick of my neighbors asking my daughter what she's doing out of school.I home school her,but that's not their business. It's annoying to me.I do know that people in the United States are nosey and need to get a life of their own.

Hello elitess! Or is it Alex? You are handsome in your picture! I wonder what you were wearing right now? hhhmmmnnn... hehe... I'm saying to you this coz maybe I want to spy you? hehe... Anyway! I'm telling you this because have you watch The Joneses? By Demi Moore and David Duchovny? Maybe you can relate to that movie because that movie is about their neighbor nosing about them... They are a perfect family... Oh! Am I lost in the topic? Well, here it is.... their just nosy neighbors who don't know what else to do in their everyday life.... So don't mind them... If you caught them nosing around... smile at them and ask what are you looking at? hehe...
