ok, so for some of us may will be here in a few short hours, okay about 1 hour. i made a bet with my moms boyfriend for the whole month of may that i will not drink any soda/pop. i bet him $20. ive tried giving up pop before but couldnt do it because i had no prize at the end. so being that i dont have $20 to give him if i lose, i have to do EVERYTHING in my power to not drink pop. to help you create a healthier lifestyle, what is one BAD thing you are willing to give up in the month of may? and do u think u can do it?

Good luck with giving up sodas! Can you drink things like Crystal light or flavored waters instead? For May I am giving up second servings. I eat A LOT. I always have seconds, or even thirds, of my favorite things at meal time. So, for this months I'm just going to fill my plate ONCE, and just reguarl full, not piled high full, and that's going to be IT.

yes i am drinking crystal light, well the walmart brand lol. and a great tip for u, is to set ur fork or spoon down on your plate as ur chewing your food. it takes 20 minutes for your brain to register its full.

Giving up soda is one of the best things you could really do for yourself! The sugar, the caffiene, acids, chemicals.. it's just so bad for us! I like your idea about giving up something. I always joke that I'd give up chocolate... I have for the most part. I may have two pieces a month now... It took me two years though to get that under control! I think I will give up white bread for the month of May. Empty carbs are really bad for our bodies! :)

i know soda is soo bad. but something in it makes it sooo addicting. but right now i am drinking those packets of powder that you pour into a bottle of water and its a great way to get off soda and onto water because its only 5 calories a packet and its sugar free! i use sparkpeople.com and when i tracked what i ate today, i ate under my max number of calories for the day. i am never good for keeping track of what i eat, but now i know that 1 serving of rice has 300 caleries, thats about 80% of your dinner. its crazy. good luck on giving up white bread! it will be easy since there are other types of bread out there, such as whole grain. but some carbs are good. like whole wheat pasta.

You made a good choice when you chose to give up soda pop! This drink is an insidious concoction of sugar, acid, caffeine and water. It is definitely an unhealthy drink, and quite addictive. The prize at the end is a healthier body, and perhaps even weight loss. Did you know that the acid in a can of pop will eat an iron nail up? Scary isn't it? (I hope you win your bet!)

I do not drink pop that much. Actually I think it'd probably be better for me to say that I would drink more water, and eat more healthier then it would for me to say that I was giving up something entirely. That is unless I was given a longer time period, say that I was told "You must give up Soda for instance and you have until the End of December, and for any reward you must not have drank soda for atleast three weeks" that way it's giving me time to stop.

Hi, caydensmom. I would say that giving up milk would be very hard for me to do so. I love drinking my 2% milk and I could never stop drinking it at all. I usually will make me a breakfast shake with it. It has a lot of protein in it, which I could never practically give up.

Select an exercise pattern to suit your life style. All of us have different life styles and professions so there is no sense in trying to follow the book strictly. Try and follow an exercise routine that is suitable for you. You have to understand that even more important than the exercise it is sticking to it. So unless you choose something that can suit your life style, you are not going to stick on to it.

$20 would probably motivate ME to stop drinking pop! . I've never actually been able to quit. I've cut down to about one per day (diet), now, but more than that I don't know if I can do it. What's helped my sister cut out pop (she stopped drinking it over a year and a half ago) is carbonated/flavored water, regular water, and coffee. You'll actually pull out WAY ahead (financially) if you just drink coffee and water instead of soda - you'll save SO much money, plus get that extra $20 bonus! . Just think about all the savings!
